Blue Catfish are FIRING UP In Shallow Water (Plus ANGRY Fisherman)

- After several days of really high winds forcing me off the lake and cancellations due to COVID I headed out to do some scouting for shallow water blue catfish in some super skinny water, hoping the fish had moved into their full spring pattern. I started my day on the water with an encounter with a super angry fisherman who threw a fishing lure at me (and did a lot of cussing) and after catching bait heading out in search of blue catfish.
This video is jam packed with tips and action on catching blue catfish in the spring in really shallow water, it's one of my favorite times of the year for catching blue catfish.

I don’t know why bass-fisherman as whole act that way. They think they own the lake and you’re just in their way. It is pretty universal. No other group on the lake act like that. We refer to them as “bass holes” on my boat 😂

Up here we go after Channel cats and man there good eating. How do Blue Cat compare. What lake you on. We are moving to the southern end by the dam of Dale Hollow Lake next spring right off the Cumberland River I here its good in that area for fishing. Love your Videos
Thanks, sounds like a great place to live. I actually prefer blues over channels. They're usually a cleaner fillet.
Now that's some fast and hot blue cat action chad. Lots of cats in the boat. The only time I have had problems with other anglers on the water is bass fisherman. There the worst. They will do ridiculous things for a 2 pound or less bass.

@Brendolyn Taylor most of us hard core catfisherman fish for cats cause we love it and it's fun and pretty much our life. Most of us do it just for those reasons. I catch hundreds of catfish in the spring and summer and keep maybe 2 total for the year. Most years I keep none. Nothing wrong with keeping some fish. I just don't like when people keep trophy sized catfish to eat. A fish like that should be released so someone else can catch it and real old and big cats aren't good to eat cause there meat gets really tough when they get really big and they don't and won't taste right.

I tie the swivel to the leader first then tie the main line to the swivel that way I can use two Palomar knots. Is there a specific reason you tie the trilene knot?
It's easier than pulling the rig through to tie a palomar knot.
@@Catfishedge makes sense I am sure you rig and re-rig more in a week than I do in a few months. Save me some line from making the dang loop big enough to get the rig through.

Chad which circle hook do you prefer the offset or the circle because I am just little guy learning how to fish and working on my first catfish tacklebox I have other tackle boxes for bass and other fish
The Triple Threat Hook is what I use. I prefer offset, that's why I designed my own hook!
I took your advice and ordered some triple threat hooks from whisker Seeker im going to try they tomorrow. Do u ever fish the Trinity?
Sometimes but not often. Not a lot of boat access up this way.

I use mono 99% of the time. I think I had one rod with braid but just because it was there.

The keep it because you caught it mentality is not a good one. If I want fish I keep a few but I rarely eat fish so I don’t keep many.
@@Catfishedge ; Well what with the projected Meat Shortages coming up because of the Processing Plants shutting down because of Covid19, you might want to start saving those fish you catch and freezing them as a Meat replacement when Chicken, Pork and Beef become no longer available.
I live in Texas. There’s a meat processor on every corner here. No worries!

Tyson & Smithfield have shut their processsing plants Down because of Covid19 , Dairy Farmers are dumping thousands of gallons of milk ! Watch the prices triple Sky High on Dairy & Meats when the demand can't meet the supply because the Processing Plants have shut down in spite of the President's Orders ! Then there are the greedy selfish Horders that take everything their grubby hands can get a hold of and leave NOTHING for anyone else !!! They are worse than Looters during the Riots !!!
