You can almost hear the gears moving in Cheyenne's head when she gazes at him. And then he looks down. Such an elegant scene. They serve beautiful lines but their eyes do half the work.

Honestly, I think that might be the sweetest tribute to a mother that I've ever heard in cinema. It's pretty progressive for a movie made in the 60s to be so non-judgmental about a prostitute. It's not like Cheyenne was making a joke, he holds his mother in high regard, he isn't ashamed that she was a sex worker. That's the kind of attitude which still isn't commonplace even now.

Historically it’s actually pretty accurate too, most towns in the west were settled on sex work from brothels so his mother being one and him growing up around them wouldn’t be unheard of

Stagecoach made in 1939 was also similarly non judgemental

My goodness! Lucky girl, you must be very pretty too. I think I saw this film about 10 years ago when I was 18. I essentially modelled some of my behaviours around Claudia's character, this strong-willed, intelligent, self-reliant kind of beauty. Probably one of my favourite female characters on film. I especially loved the scene at the end where Cheyenne tells her to go out to the men digging the railroad and give them some water, because just to look at a girl as beautiful as her would be a gift. The power of beauty.

I've never liked the dialogue in the scene where Cheyenne initially shows up at Jill's door and asks if she's seen a man with a harmonica going around. It comes across like Jill never saw Harmonica in the saloon three scenes prior.

He probably can't even remember her being in the saloon

@@Joemckenzie-85 That would be strange because he takes long looks right at her during that scene.
