Thanks very much glad you enjoyed it. I have a new video out Saturday you may enjoy it. Something a bit different but until then maybe check out my instagram to see what I get up to in between videos
Well done, solid tool repair and ready for even more useful work. Nice to see a well done restoration, well thought out and very workman like finish. An old tool well cared for, and/or restored well, is still doing what it was designed to do by our grandfathers!
Thanks very much man yeh it's now going to get years more use and is most definitely better steel than stuff made today. Really nice for people to appreciate the fact I saved something destined for the scrap bin 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Love to see these old relics given a new life as there will never be any more produced. You did it all with just elbow grease and mostly basic tools and your ability learned from the school of hard knocks!! Thanks for the show.
Loving the restoration of this vintage hammer in this throwaway society that we live in today people have lost this skill of recycling repairing restoring these amazing old tools great work man 👍🇬🇧
Exactly mate that's why I do it and granted it's not back to sparkling brand new quality but it's useable and will last for many more years. Thanks so much for watching and commenting 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you very much yes if it did try to grind to a mirror finish I don't think there would be much hammer left haha. I'm happy with the overall look aswell does go together and glad to save it from the scrap bin 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I know a lot of you seem to think this was a hexagonal headed hammer but it was not it was a round headed hammer with a hexagonal neck if you google search you will see lots of examples of these types of heads. The hexagonal headed ones do not have a bottle neck head on them but thank you all for your concern and I hope this public service announcement helps you sleep at night 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I agree that the handle was rotten and done for... But the head could've been restored less... Uhm how do I say this?... Less destructive? XD seriously try electrolysis! You're welcome xoxo
Thanks Matt. Yeh I didn't intend on keeping it on the hammer head but when I saw it was black I thought it be worth keeping to act as a bit of protection. Thanks for watching 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I work nights so I just woke up and watched this. I love your videos man! Lol @ the 6 years later that was awesome. When you put that rust stuff on it looked like modge podge. Lol If you didn't mention what it was I thought you'd be putting some festive decoratives lol. Great stuff as always!
Hahaha thanks so much I'm trying to just edit the videos as I want to do them rather than trying to make it please everyone and it seems people like it so thank you I appreciate you saying it will definitely be more to come 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I've refurbed maybe 3 or 4 of those old strap hammers. I like them they have a bit of character and easier to rehandle than the usual adze eye types. I have a 4 inch scar on my left thumb from the nail to the base, sustained from a strap hammer incident. I had it in the vise but it wasn't fully secure. It slipped while I was filling, it spun round like a kung fu star and slit right into my hand. Beautiful scar, as straight as a die
Here we have a perfect restoration in my opinion. You caught a useless and broken piece and fixed it up! No non-sense mirror efects, just pretty funtionalness!
Good video that shows fine techniques. I especially like the shape of the end of the handle for hard hammering. In the future, can you please mute the power tools? Your spoken portion is much quieter than the punishing volume of the screaming angle grinder, etc. Thank you for an educational demonstration

Great job! The nice thing about the way you restored this is you didn't destroy the character of an old tool by making it look brand new.
Thanks. New restoration video up now
Wow! Amazing work! I never thought in a million years you would be able to save that hunk of rust, but it looks beautiful!
Thanks dude. To be honest I didn't think I'd be able to restore it nicely myself but I'm so glad I did. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
The concept of restoring an antique hammer got my attention, but it was the humor that got you a new subscriber.

Came out very well I was relieved that you didn't grind everything to a mirror polish and gave it a lovely patina
Thank you very much yes if it did try to grind to a mirror finish I don't think there would be much hammer left haha. I'm happy with the overall look aswell does go together and glad to save it from the scrap bin 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Not a lot of "finesse" in your work, but gets the job done. It was an honest display. I liked the end result. Thumbs up from me.
Hahaha finesse is for surgeons. Thanks man 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Nice work Onur. I've got some of that Kurust somewhere in the garage. I didn't think to use it to give a blackened finish, I'll have to give it a try.
Thanks Matt. Yeh I didn't intend on keeping it on the hammer head but when I saw it was black I thought it be worth keeping to act as a bit of protection. Thanks for watching 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
