- Greg takes a step back from his normal routine and goes glamping with his dog fin. See how a Canadian bushman, Greg, relaxes in the bush.
Greg is a self-taught survivalist from Canal Flats, British Colombia, who, since he was a boy, has read nearly every book on the topic. When he is not out in the wilderness, he is a professional dry-waller. He started his first bow drill fire when he was thirteen and spent the next forty years learning bushcraft and studying plants and edibles. He has even developed some of his own survival techniques and is a skilled hunter with both a bow and a slingshot.

Just Greg being Greg doing Greg things, loving it!
I believe you have Greg's number 😅
Mr Ovens
I can not thank you enough for the joy you have given my heart and soul whilst my body is still recovering from a terrible leg injury.
Watching you is just wonderful when one can not get out and about.
Never change.
Love to you and Finn from a lady of 50 in the 🇬🇧
God blessed us with you and may the world bless you darling.
X
Kindest thanks Greg
Michelle
speedy recovery!
You speak with such love. Much respect from the west coast of 🇨🇦
Feel better soon Michelle. 💞from Canada
Greg and Amos got me through a hard time last year when I was bedridden. I hope he knows he's much apricated.
Prayers for Michelle. Be Well Soon. Best wishes from South Carolina, USA.
When society as we know it collapses, it's men like Greg that will adapt and survive 💪
When you said "We're doing brakes tomorrow, Finn" Finn stopped instantly and whipped his head around as if to say "What do you mean 'We', man? You're on your own sucka!" What an absolutely loveable pair! 👍 👍
I've had some rugged camping, meaning being cold and damp, but I always had fire and food. What I've learned from you are ways to better prepare for cold and rain as well as some foraging skills. I still don't feel prepared to survive on my own due to my age and lack of strength (just over 5 foot tall and almost age 70), but with help and luck, I'm pretty sure I could survive thanks to you.
This is the best comedy substitute on U tube... the guys in the office must laugh endlessly...Pure Gold!!!
Greg, we always STEAMED THE CRABS, BOILING TAKES AWAY THE FLAVOR. If you clean them first but steam them, the flavor actually gets into the meat better (old bay, that is)
You blow me away Greg!! You just merged auto maintenance with "glamping"!! You are such a motivator, I love it. We need more people with your work ethic!
Amazing job Greg you inspire us all
I love how you make it like you’re on your weekend this time and taking it easy. This one’s a day off from roughing it.🤣 dude, always at it🤣🐸🍺🔪🔥
Great moments in Canadian history
Doesn't get more Canadian than this😅
Sundays are like that for me. Even if I really need rest, if I have work to do, I won't be able to, so I just get 'er done.
I'd love to be able to share my skills more often, but what draws a crowd is the unmanageable situation, like a messed up log because names are showing.
Snow was beautiful. Fin looked like he enjoyed his steak. Awesome vid. Maybe I'll try doing my own brakes next time. 👍💚
I know he enjoyed it. After he finished, he sat there looking over at Greg as if to say, "Hey! I love you man!". LOL
Geez Greg I'm worn out just watching you relax
you needed narrower trees. you wedge the log between the trees, and put the cable on one of the outside ends. you get a fulcrum bonus. would take a fraction of the energy required. if i remember i'll make a quick demo video tomorrow and post it.
You were supposed to take it easy says the man dragging logs 😂..those crabs looked delicious!!
I don't know a lot about camping survival but I would feel safe with you
nothing gets better than winching your truck to change the breaks love it!
You’re so 😎, love Finn so much.
I cannot believe it. I just replaced rear brake pads on my car. Drove for a couple of days heard bare metal on metal and had to do the front as well. Now I'm watching Greg do his. I feel like my life is just one big calliper assembly at the moment! 😅
Nothing’s impossible for Greg Ovens
its great Zacs helping him with the video editing, makes all the difference, Gregs a nice guy he deserves a break, love and contentment from Liverpool UK,xx breaking firewood with a winch only you would think thats a good idea, we know the truth, you just want a excuse to play with your new toy, its very sweet seeing the enjoyment your getting,,xxxx
brings back the good old days of making do with what you had and inventing ways to get the job done. Thanks Greg!
Greg got a million dollar view while working on his breaks. God that country looks beautiful.
Canada is the most beautiful Country in the entire world. Thanks Seth💞
I can’t believe you still got that snow🐸
Grab yourself a couple of 5 or 6 ton Snatchblocks. They will double the pull strength of your winch and it won't have to work as hard. I use a snatchblock and a tree saver strap and they work like a hot damn!
I found this video pretty interesting pretty entertaining I like this day in the life of a regular old Greg ovens Bushman
A true "shade tree" mechanic!! Thanks for taking us along.
This was very interesting Greg. Stay safe, and keep bringing us videos. I always learn something.
What you learn on this one?
How to destroy your truck to have a fire?😅😅😅
I love greg but C mon. He needs to think things out a bit more...
@@survivewithjon Hello. Thank you for the opportunity to qualify my comment. I learned how to cook crab. I learned how Greg used the winch on the front of his truck. I learned the difference between disk brakes and drum brakes. Have a nice weekend.
😂 Like the rest of us, When you finally get a day off, And it's packed with all the chores that you had to put off during the work week! 🤪
That dungeness crab is still alive,...
That clicking You can hear is his gills working. I cook them the same way you do but in the same water they come out of. It seasons them perfectly! .. And he looks delicious!
As an afterthought, You may want to pick up a folding bowsaw and include it somewhere inside your truck. Maybe under the back seat. Chainsaws can fail too. It never hurts to have a back up plan!
You may not be the king of sketchy ideas. But you are definitely a prince. Stay safe my friend.
Good to know how to do it yourself changing out disc brakes. Now I am thinking about having crab & steak yum. First time seeing Finn sit still for awhile waiting for his steak dinner 😅 I would too! ❤ your show.
I cannot wait to camping too! Just as soon as I can get the brake fluid so I can FINALLY GO RELAX and bleed my brakes out in the GREAT OUTDOORS! AWE SO PEACEFUL! lol
finn is the cutest dog ever
Your idea of a day off is much different than mine. I sure in the heck wouldn’t be changing brake pads or thinking about how I left my chainsaw at home to cut firewood… Haha!!
You Rock Bro! ☀️🌎☀️
Love you buddy!
Nice ranger my man!
Sometimes you need it Greg!
He can do anything 🐸
Lumberjacking up the vehicle is a good wilderness technique for removing the tires.
Hook your winch cable at the end of the log rather than the middle. Use leverage to your advantage
Another goodie! Thanks Greg!👍😎
Your so good with your brakes also
love the videos man. greetings from Finland
Brings back memories! Thanks Greg and Fin!
ill say it again, if I was glamping alone I would want Greg with me oh and Finn. Best wishes UK
No such thing as glamping. You are just living outside. There is no glamour unless you are wealthy. Ive been on the road a year now. Its not all its cracked up to be. I promise you. There are great moments but there are more hard times, for sure .
If you aren’t out there for the love of the work then just get an apartment and a job. No it’s not glamorous, but staying outside for extended periods of time can be deeply satisfying. Key is to stay clean, bath often, wash your clothing often, and be productive, there is no rest in the bush unless your just visiting from town. You got to love it.
@@wilbertwallace6655I hunt camp and fish in the deep bush lots, just because I’m visiting from my house doesn’t mean that I haven’t forgotten more about living in the bush than all the guys that do it because they don’t want to get a job.
And yes no such thing as glamping, your not camping at all if you pull a house and power out to a very public and easy to access maintained camp site.
Glamping…a form of camping involving accommodation and facilities more luxurious than those associated with traditional camping
Hello from Wisconsin 😃
Good job! Changing the pads is ok, but I hate changing the discs. That I don't do anymore 😂
Keep the great videos coming friend and please keep safe from Scotland 🎉🎉😊
Two of my favorite things....fixing stuff that needs it and camping. Love the video. Thanks for bringing us along, again.

Hay Greg and Fin,nice truck.I had a jeep with a winch,ain’t they great!Tanks again for a grand video “A”!
Nice looking truck 🙂 Glad to see the winch working out and the Ranger back on the road!
I take the cap off the brake fluid reservoir before compressing the brake pad piston to give the brake fluid somewhere to go.
U.K. here great videos Greg love the 30day challenges aswell, hopefully lots more to come, stay safe 💪🏻
Killer boots man! 🤙🏻
My whole family loves you Greg. Can you wish my wife, Danielle a happy birthday, please? It’s in April. Looking forward to the next video. Right on.

Greg...you're the man!
Wow Greg you wernt lying when you said metal to metal 😂
Outstanding video Greg! Love seeing a day in the life of a bushcrafter videos.
For some reason I think that having that winch will eventually result in Greg totalling his truck... 😂

Right on!
As soon as you said you didn’t want the truck to end up in the lake - I’m expecting the truck to end up in the lake 😂
👍👍👍 Awesome

Absolutely love this! I always wanted to know about the daily life of Gregg and Finn when you're not doing challenges or teaching us folk how to survive. Awesome Gregg-thanks.
Don't put your head under the truck...lol
Thanks for all your videos Greg
❤🎉😊hello from Beautiful British Columbia 🇨🇦🍁🦖🐕
headed into deep bc myself right away with squeaky brakes....fingers crossed greg , seem to always make it out alive
This was a great video, I love the simplicity of the day to day and its cool seeing the brake pad replacement, all necessary components of living independently.
Thanks for that refresher course on doing this Breaks. I really appreciate it and the night before when you had the crab and steak and you hanging out with the dog that’s just awesome. Keep doing what you’re doing Greg, We appreciate you and your videos.❤️💫❤️🔥🔥🔥
Bravo Greg..I'm learning stuff even at 79
Really like the truck greg, I hope it goes good for you man
No relaxing today lol😂
I wish I could be so mellow like Greg. I'm learning.
Hello Greg and Finn. Great video thanks for the lesson too 😃😎
I love these kind of videos. Not just bushcraft but just working with what you have. So entertaining and Thank you Greg for the adventure with you.
😣 awwwe man. Bummed you crushed the front end
I did both the drum brakes on my car and the pads on my wife's car last weekend. I have always done my own. 50+ years.
Greg ovens i been watching you since you started even on the alone series. We have talked over gmail a few times but you have taught me so much and ive came so far in bushcraft because of you
Love your videos Greg! Greetings from Pennsylvania 😊
Interesting way to change the breaks in the woods and it works sucks that you had to do it in the snow, winter just doesn't want to leave . , Looked like Finn really enjoyed his steak such a good well behaved boy.Interesting watch Greg Thank you
