Certainly the largest deadfall I've seen! I am immediately reminded of "My Side of the Mountain" where a figure-four log deadfall trap was described as being large enough to fell deer. Thank you for taking the time to set this thing up and film it for us!

That's an impressive trip mechanism, some precision whittling too! The slow-motion on the bottle was cool. Nice work!

Thank you. Yeah it takes precision whittling for sure. It’s a fine line between too much latching pressure making it hard to trip and not enough to pressure keep it set. Definitely a fun project.

That is one Hel of a dead fall. Did you ever catch anything in it? No doubt it could handle some big game. 🌲🦌🌲

Just seeing this comment. Sorry. No it illegal here to use primitive traps so I didn’t leave it up. We’re allowed to build them for practice, but not legal to use.

Thanks. It was a fun project. I wanted to go oversized for the visual effects.

Thank you. Planning to do a spring snare sometime soon. When the weather and free time collide.

My idea of trapping, well my first go-to setup would be a small hole in the ground, with a larger, more rounded off hole underneath it for inescapability. If you catch my drift. Also, you could bury a medium sized box level with the top of the ground with small portions of food inside for bug/rodent accumulation.

@@odelloutdoors3424 Thanks man. I’m pretty confident in my summer survival skills, but winter would be an entirely different beast.

This is how small TH-cam channels stay small and never get to a million subscribers.

To respond to your comment, it’s illegal in my state and almost all of the U.S. states to trap with primitive traps like this, so you won’t be seeing me incriminating myself on video for the enjoyment of strangers.
