I looked at both, and the trim is sexier on the LX, but the towing capacity of the QX (towing 7000lbs with 8500 available) is why I chose it, and I have had other Infini's with great results, especially the performance of the Q50. It's tough to find the towing capacity of the QX80, it's a beast, with a whopping 8mpg with the camper.
DCA = Distance Control Assist. When active, it'll brake to a smooth stop if the car in front of you slows down or stops, just like adaptive cruise control, except cruise control doesn't have to be on. DCA works independently.
Can anyone tell me how reliable these are?!?!? I’m looking at ones with around 70-80k miles. I’ve heard such mixed things about reliability on these suvs
As an owner of a 2006 and 2021 Nissan Titan, I'd take my Titan any place without any thought of worry. The V8s in these vehicles are fantastic and Q80s and Armadas are awesome values ATM.
Ive owned one for 2 years now. (2015, bought nov 2021 92k miles) Hindsight is 20/20... and I wish I just forked out the extra 10-15k for the 200 series toyota/lexus. It is a very nice truck, tows everything easily, lots of room, awd system gets you out every time. Just turns out to be the hardest (read- audi complexity levels of repair) vehicle to work on. HPFP junked out at 108k miles and wiped out the cam. Parts alone DIY cost me $3400. Im now driving a ticking bomb with fuel bucket metal shards stuck in the engine because reman engines dont exist, and new long blocks cost over half the price of the truck. I wouldnt touch another one for more than 10k.... and even then it'd better be a creampuff. If I werent so upside down on it, it would have already transformed into a sequoia by this point.
The Nissan Armada ('17+) Infiniti QX56 ('11+) renamed QX80 in 2014 are all based on the Patrol platform. The Patrol in global markets goes head to head with the Land Cruiser and Prado. These vehicles are quite reliable and robust as well as being very offroad capable. Despite being IFS and IRS they do quite well offroad, but handle differently than the solid rear axle GXs older LCs. The thing that kills their value is the quality that is present in these models is totally on par with what Toyota puts into its LC, GX etc. But unlike Toyota where quality is present through like 90% of its offerings. The Nissan Patrol based vehicles, Frontier, Titan and XTrail/XTerra are the only quality built vehicles in Nissan/Infiniti lineup so they aren't a vehicle I'd want to buy new if resale is a concern.
I have a 2017 with near 150000 on the clockand ican atest it doesnt break and pretty affordable if it everdoes.Normal maintenance brakes tyres and lubrication. Only expense has been a battery
As for handling kirk you were driving one of the top trim levels with the touring package tech package theater package etc. With that you had the hydraulic body motion control adaptive cruise the autonomous breaking, lane departure prevention and yes you can turn all of those gizmos off by turning off that button you were playing with or individually from the infotainment. And you can configure the center display in between the gauges as well. As equipped what you were driving msrp was $79,000+-
Acceleration reaction......”Dang, Dang........Daaanng.” I bought the 2015 year version of this vehicle 2 days ago. It will be a nice ride and my kids will definitely enjoy the space.
Considering the 2014 QX80 or the 2013-14 GX, thoughts? I'd love to spring for the LX, but this is a 2nd vehicle, and I want to stay in the $20-25k range.
Had a GX back in ‘09, and test drove them before deciding to buy a ‘15 QX. Decided the GX was just too small, wanted a full size SUV, and am glad I did. Love my QX, definitely the right choice for me.
I had a GX460 and then sold it and eventually settled on a QX80 as I also wanted more room. I feel like the QX80 has all the capability and refinement of the GX with tons more room and surprisingly better gas mileage
I just started following you this year- so I’m just now seeing this video. I bought one new last year. I’ve heard mixed reviews of the longevity of these SUVs. What’s your opinion or what you know of please?
The reason it feels just below the LX is because just like the LX it came out in 07 or 08 and unlike the LX that g it a major facelift in 2016 this never and is more of a competitor to the prefacelift 2014 LX
He could have compared it to a 1998 lx470 the quality of the Q80 is just not the same. lol and he compared the 80 transmission and interior to a 2007 lx470
There is/was an upgrade package that included higher quality leather throughout the cabin. That would likely be more on par with what you would find in a Lexus. Keep in mind that almost fully loaded the QX is about 20k cheaper than a base LX so there will be some trade off.
You are wrong this was a brand new patrol based platform in 2011 as a qx56. The 2007 generation was only similar in size everything else is new from 2011
Kirk review the latest qx80,its a beast of an suv just like lx570 both are my dream suvs. And also kirk I am waiting for you to review the 2018 toyota tundra 1794 edition pickup truck.
i wouldn't agree that nissan patrol is a nicer armada? Patrol competes against Land Cruiser in other markets. i wouldn't call Land Cruiser a nicer sequoia =p
Patrol and Armada are very similar. Patrol happens to have better off roading capability and more luxury. Sequoia is larger than the landcruisser and only shares the 5.7L.
@@KirkKreifels my apologies. i was thinking of the old/last gen armada which is more like a fat pathfinder. the new one is based on the patrol. thanks.
Ive been seeing many videos about this infinity, Transmission problems Brake problems Braking problems Bad gas mileage Slow pickup on the road Electronics iffy Heating problems Echaust problems Burns alot of oil... Suspension problems Maintenance cost through the roof PEOPLE LOOK AT OTHER VIDEOS TITLED INFINITY QX80 PROBLEMS !!
You’re literally trying to find any reason to bar this vehicle kind of unnecessary. Wonder how much Lexus is paying you.

My ultimate dream car❤

This is why I couldn't do my brake test like I wanted to! Hahaha. Thanks for watching. I have a G37x coupe review coming soon you may like ;)
I like all of your reviews! Currently binging on nearly all of them haha
Bahaha make sure to get some sleep!!!

The side grill on the drivers side is the engine air intake.

Is this the issue where the catalytic convertor pieces get into the engine? Is it reliable if you change to aftermarket cats before that happens?

liked ur review. changed my mind of buying this car. subscribed
I have the 2017. I don't know why the LX is 20k more. Hell of a bargain to me!
Like kirk said the LX is more reliable. Don't get me wrong I have had both I still have the qx but I drove my lx 350k miles before I sold it for 10k
Do any of these car review videos come with technical expertise?

NO NO NO THE SIDE GRILL IS THE BEST
Dca is distance control assist. For the adaptive cruise.

Hey! Any update on the reliability? How is it faring?

GX unless you need more space
I had the gx I sold it and bought back the qx. More space same fuel economy more features. I love my qx.

I am getting 2016 Qx80 Hermosa Blue soon....I pick Infiniti over Lexus anyday!
Bought the qx80....best suv I ever own so far!!!
I have had 2 2012 qx56 same color
I will buy QX80 2016 soon!!! 👍
We just got the QX80 Limited trim level, only trim level that's worth it.
I follow your channel I also showed your lx 570 review to my mother
I just started following you this year- so I’m just now seeing this video. I bought one new last year. I’ve heard mixed reviews of the longevity of these SUVs. What’s your opinion or what you know of please?
As far as I know they're very reliable but I would look to forums for your exact model year to see if there are issues
They are built in Japan so they fair better than other Nissan products. One issue with the 2017-2018s is the number 7 cylinder knock.
I like that car very much and the video is very good ... greetings brot ...
You can turn off the automatic braking by pressing the DCA button
10:39 🤦♂️ You have to put the car in reverse and then you can switch it off manually by pushing the button..
Thanks Bob! If I ever get back in the QX80 I hope I remember this tip.
How many usb points

It is a very beautiful and gorgeous car
It does have video game ports in the rear. You just didn't see them down low
I’m buying this soon.
Kirk also do a review on 2018 ford f-150 raptor
Wuaoooooo brot super nice car ....very very very good video and car ....
Thanks bud! I'll keep 'em coming!

Do a review on 2018 ford f-150 raptor
the LX is the bargain here
Shot the front door! 🤣🤣🤣
better than a Lexux
Perhaps one of the most amateur-ish uninformed reviews Ive (attempted to) watch.
I love Kirk but this should have been titled “Kirk’s first reaction to seeing a QX80”
Mine is black with the same interior long have mercy
Those 22" wheels and tires are going to adversely affect the ride quality and road noise.

No worries. It's hard for me to keep up with Lexus, let alone other car companies!
Ive been seeing many videos about this infinity,
Transmission problems
Brake problems
Braking problems
Bad gas mileage
Slow pickup on the road
Electronics iffy
Heating problems
Echaust problems
Burns alot of oil...
Suspension problems
