The short route from Mendiola to J. Nepomuceno is thru a passage with a floating bridge walkway at the PRRC rehabilitated Estero de San Miguel. It's almost beside the.Mendiola Peace Arch. Shown here are some landmarks: National Teachers College, San Sebastian Church and St. Rita College. Thanks to the PRRC, MMDA, and all those River warriors who contributed to this wonderful rehabilitatetd Estero de San Miguel.

Im sorry.... But this Projects where from No Government units. They where doing it for decades under Gina Lopez and former First Lady ming Ramos.... It was just recently that the national government did dig the Esteros... I'm not talking politics here. But it's getting better.

@@akosay subukan mong bumaba sa estero mismo, iba ung ambiance, mahaba yan hanggang sa likod ng CEU. In fact dalawang tulay pa tatawirin mo hanggang sa dulo ng trail. Mas maganda ung environment sa gawing dulo ng trail, makikita mo pag nakarating ka dun. Subukan mo ring kunan ung mga maliliit na isda sa tubig, nakakatuwa. My garden pa sa dulo nyan. Gawa ka ulit ng vlog jan, tutal last year pa tong video na to eh. Konti pa lang vloggers nakapunta jan. Ako nga last week lang nakapag-vlog jan sa estero although matagal ko ng nakita yan several years ago pa, si PNoy pa presidente nun.
The Mendiola I remember (back in the late 80s) didn’t have an arch nor was it barricaded. From 1983 to 1987 I witnessed a lot of rallies but the most violent of all came in 1987 when Marcos was no longer in power and Cory was the president. This was the Mendiola massacre, and I was there, not as a participant but simply a student trying to get home but I ended up getting caught in the wild stampede that ensued as Marines opened fire into the crowd. Almost 32 years later the memory of that violent January day still remains vivid and clear 😊

It's a challenge too going about these places. Most places are firat time visits too. Glad when it's sunny too. I feel safer when the streets are bright. But it's interesting to roam unfamiliar streets too. Thanks for your support!

How about in Hidalgo sa Quiapo, ayos na rin ba ang estero doon. I remember when I was studying law at MLQU, I walked to that little bridge with plenty of shanties, trash along the banks. I hope the estero is now rehabilitated and gone are the shanties and garbage.
