Electrostatic speakers are for people who love vocals and clarity of sound. Sitting in the sweet spot feel like you are bathe in the music. This is from my limited time with these speakers. These speakers are quite reveling in the details.

People always say that you cant get a sense for the sound through a youtube video. I would mostly disagree. If done with care you can get a sense of the speaker through what your used to listening through, your own sound solution. Thanks for the sound demo, even listening from my house it was enjoyable. ML's are spicy, certainly a technology that can augment your experience.

    Hi Terry
I’ve recently had the pleasure of a demo of a pair of Martin Logan electrostatic speakers at my local hifi store ( Soundcraft hifi ) and these are unbelievable from the sound the image and the atmosphere these create personally I’ve never heard anything like this , I understand at £18,000 for the ones I listen to that’s a crazy amount of money but even if you purchased bowers Wilkins top of the range I don’t think they would compare to these electrostatic speakers
    Great video great sound :)

I have auditioned the ESL 13 A, on my side of the pond (USA). Their strong suit is clear transparency and wide sound stage. Their weakness is their overall lack of cohesiveness in mid range and bass frequencies. However, I must confess that I am not a huge Electrostat fan. As always, great job in capturing the sound reproduction of these speakers in that particular setting. Your experience and expertise with room acoustics comes through in the production of your videos. Thank you, and continue your marvelous work.

I have always loved ML panels, sound and aesthetics with that semitransparent electrostatic panel. Once I heard a pair of Ascent MK2 driven by two mono class A amps in a big attic and the sound was so pure and transparent, the only caveat if that word is correct here is that they had to be removed from front walls at least 1'5 to 2 meters.
I always been space constrained so ML never got to my house but that pair of class-A monoblocks ended in my home. Sony TA-NR1s, the most beautiful amps ever been made, in what I'm concerned.

Thanks for the video. It’s hard to appreciate the sound quality from a video but I’m really intrigued by this speaker setup. I own a couple of pairs of ML (No ESL 13 though) and for best results I would use far less toein, set them further apart (at least one foot) and pull the couch back and sit on it. I also agree with Harry Fishnuts, this platform between the speakers did probably affect the soundstage. Once again thank you for this video

I have a pair of these. Magical speakers. I compared them to a lot of other box speakers at a local high-end store. No comparison for feeling like you're there. As for the bass, I think a lot of people stating that it's bloated and not well integrated have only heard old ML's. I had Ascent I's before these, and would agree about those. These are a different animal!
BTW, 10" woofers that take them down to 24 Hz.

Got to love the bug flying by at 836🤓 great speakers but not if you want to listen and move freely around the room. A great sit in a dedicated seat listen from my limited experience. You move a foot and a lot of treble disappears. Of course the bigger and wider units display less of this but also at a cost 3 to 4X. Width with these speakers means everything it seems! Although I have limited experience with these, I know more than a few people who have owned or used to own these speakers and claim the same thing! Great informative video!

    Yeah ,
They sound great but always when there's an esl demo you always hear ' soft ' light ' music , why ?
Are ML not capable to bring other kind of music ?
I mean for example a great symphony or church organ music with deep bass or popmusic ?

I just took delivery on a pair ESL 9's.. I paired them with a Parasound A21 amp and P6 preamp. I have been in heaven all week! Finest sounding system I have ever owned, and I have been at this hobby a very long time... Parasound from my local upscale dealer - Safe and Sound n Chicopee MA. They have quite a business going and they ship everywhere.

These were the best sounding speakers at the Florida audio expo in my opinion. The only problem is that the screens may have to be replaced as early as 5 years. They will sound great until that middle film wears out.

Hi there Terry. I am watching this for the second time around since it's release date, and I am very surprised at the errors made in the opening presentation explaining the Martin Logan range. First off, the measurement of the woofers in the 13A are NOT 8" as mentioned (they are 10"). Also, the measurements of the stat panel were not correctly stated as mentioned by each of the fellows. The man off camera even said 13A=13" and then when repeated, he said it was 11"
The 13A is 13", 11A = 11" and the ESL Classic 9 = 9". They also refer to the 13A as the top of the range. No mention of the 15A, which is the flagship of the Masterpiece series... You could flash corrections on screen so people won't be mislead. as they discover your video here. (well, perhaps my comment here will have already done that) lol ...
    Thanks as always!

I didn't know the info was wrong Gary, to be fair to PMC dist they had literally only just taken ML on for UK distribution and ML have a huge range of speakers and subwoofers to learn all that info would take a bit of time so making an odd fact mistake while its not ideal its understandable and hopefully forgivable :)

Nice looking product but 2:02 he describes the woofers as being 8". They look at least 10" to me, possibly even 12" .
On camera the woofers look as wide as his brown shoes are long, which would suggest at least 10".... unless he has tiny feet! Great video. Keep them coming

They *do* sound different, but certainly not inferior to 'regular' speakers, maybe a small bit of slam you may be used to... but some of that is the loss of distortion you're used to..
You will however, hear *any*shortcomings in the recordings themselves ....that's disturbing to some, but the tradeoff of hearing things never heard before is well worth it to me.
I'm primarily a rock/metal guy who switched to electrostatics 20 yrs ago, no more regular/dynamic speakers. In case you didn't know, the difference in distortion between electrostats and dynamic speakers is huge. Electrostats have nearly zero, and mid-priced 'regular' speakers often have 10% ..yep ..and ppl worry about 0.5% from amps...pfft..

ML products haven't shown much real improvement in decades. Sounding much as they did back going back to the early days. In fact their original CLS to many ears still ranks as the best and most transparent speaker they ever made. But their increase in price is over the top far beyond inflation for a constant stream of new products that show little to no improvement. In many cases the older lines were better and vastly cheaper to buy.
