The best summary of DBZA Cell I have heard is that he has Goku’s love of combat, Vegeta’s ego, Piccolo’s intelligence, Tien’s pragmatism, Frieza’s sadism, Gohan’s lateral thinking and Krillin’s sense of humor/fun… all filtered through Nappa.
According to them gohan is cells intelligence , and krillen gave him his fast thinking and tricky behavior , meanwhile his abilities are a corrupted version of piccolos
Also, Cell said that he's made from the DNA of everyone else and it shows in his personality. "I know you're playing me, but I do" was Vegeta's line a few episodes back.
1:30-2:10 perfectly showcases Cell's whole character (at least in the Abridged). He goes from disturbing, to morbidly hillarious, to oddly charming and back to disturbing again. In other words : *"That's a quality sociopath right there!"*
You'll notice this is also the 1st time in the show that a main villain is almost the same level or just a bit stronger than the stronger members of the cast and is very beatable if they unite , this is the 1st time you'll actually see a catching up with each other's power levels race between both sides.
Cell: "Oh, god. You're even starting to look like Kami." Kami: "Dick!" That scene kills me every, single, time! From this point forward, everything from the comedy to the drama, the dialogue and the action is on point with TeamFourStar. I have watched, and re-watched, these episodes specifically just because they are that fun, funny, and give everyone in this cast of characters something to do.
It has been so much fun watching you two react to this. Most who react to DBZA have already seen DBZ, so it's really neat getting to see the show from the perspective of someone going in completely fresh.

In DBKai, When Cell is about to do the Kamehameha it cuts to one of the Z Fighters saying "That feels like. . ." and cuts to Gohan saying "Dad's energy." That was always an excellent transition.

One of my favorite things about this whole Android/Cell arc is that instead of playing the 'the villain is so OP we can't touch them and just barely survive for 20ish episodes' the enemies are stronger than the protagonists but not untouchable, so there's tension to see if they can get strong enough to stop them before the threats achieve their goals. The back and forth of it keeps things exciting.
5:05 even Tenshinhan used that once, in OG Dragonball to flex before Roshi. Piccolos Roommates are so much fun together, the TFS Crew realy had there Fun whit that one.
Love the intro to Cell here! But one minor correction on his origin, Gero built him by splicing together the DNA of Goku and the gang (and even Freeza, thanks to his excursion to Earth). He's just been absorbing everyone else since coming to a form of "maturity" I guess you could call it?
And in goes who is probably the most iconic villain in DBZ. Cell was incredible in the regular show, and in abridged, he is a gift that keeps on giving.
The writing on DBZA gets better and better all throughout this arc. The jokes get tighter with each episode and they find the perfect balance between the comedy and telling the actual story of the series being abridged. Honestly, I've thought a few times that it wouldn't have looked out of place as a show on Adult Swim...uh...if not for...you know...the fact it uses copyrighted material lol
That thing with Cell killing Trunks is the reason he got the time machine. That skeleton in the old one was the biodegraded corpse of a Trunks from a different past. Remember multiverse theory?
Some people are suggesting watching using the Canadian subtitles, but I *strenuously* disagree. On a second watch, yes, but not on the first one. The first time through needs to be vanilla, so you guys can enjoy the original TFS version and not be distracted by other people's jokes. Also, lots of spoilers in the Canadian subtitles.
Cell is Finally here, and yeah you notice there that Cell went into detail on who/what he is and where he came from but not going into too much detail on how he got there, just "I found a way" with us seeing a glimpse of how. Also a detail I like, you notice that Cell said is here to reach his perfection, a secret that had been lost to him in his timeline, now to people who've seen the original know, not only because they've seen it but also because in the original Cell reveals how he would reach his perfection but here in Abridged Cell doesn't reveal it, keeping his cards to his chest and keeping it a mystery to those who haven't seen the original and are experiencing DBZ through this and I love that detail. Also Vegeta gave an amazing last line of the episode 🤣 And Cell's voiced brilliantly by Takahata101‚ add that to the characters list with Nappa, Dende, Bardock, Guldo, Super Kami Guru, and Alucard from Hellsing Ultimate Abridged and the Death Battle as well as Deadpool in Death Battle
By the way, if you pause the video at the right moment when Cell does the Solar Flare, you'll see a hidden image. The same can be done for any instance where the Solar Flare gets used

Aaahhh, the Cell saga. So much goodness still on its way. One thing that Cell mentioned though, the fact that the 2 android brothers are actually cyborgs is a surprisingly important factoid for a brief moment in the far future, so that might be something to keep in mind. Not super important, but the distinction is still kinda important. Cell also gave us a huge hint here by using everyone's technique and also with the fact that everyone could feel... most of each others energies in Cell.
fun fact: when piccolo was listing off people who can use the kamehameha, he either skipped one or didn't have time to say it. tien. yep. tien can use it. he only did it once in OG dragonball when he fought master roshi (aka jackie chun) in the 22nd WMT, just to show him that he could.

In the timeline Cell comes from, Trunks had returned from the Past and killed 17 and 18. Unable to achieve his perfect form, Cell killed Trunks and stole his time machine and went to the Past a full year before Trunks arrived, shifting the timeline to change 17 and 18 from how Trunks knrw then. The only reason Trunks isn't a part of Cell is because Cell already had the DNA of Goku, Gohan, Vegeta and Nappa and so the probe sent to collect the genetic material of strong warriors deemed that enough Saiyan DNA was already acquired so it didn't need to collect his.

So for me, the drinking that guy bit, that was the scene that made me start watching DBZ. I saw DBZ years before and thought it was the dumbest show ever. Just a bunch of guys screaming a bunch. Then one day, I was like 13, my parents randomly got cable after not having it for like 4 years. So I turn on Cartoon Network and well, that was what was on screen. The guy in the show offers Piccolo money and Piccolo tells Cell to let him go. So Cell does and the guy crawls towards Piccolo just gushing thank yous and after he crawls a bit, Cell stabs and slurps. So I kept watching in twisted fascination. Cell is my favorite villain in DBZ and DBZA. And I can't wait to see your reactions to him as the show moves forward.

Yes that is confusing..in that timeline multiverse 17 and 18 was probably weak because even 18 he can't win. The trunks that cell killed was probably as weak as this trunks otherwise it will put up a fight.
Fun Fact: The androids are stronger in the timeline that Future Trunks isn’t from, So when Future Cell Absorbs them he is already surpassing his own timeline’s Creator’s design limits.
I don't know if you noticed the reference. In the second time machine episode, Gohan's mom told him to study Biology. Gohan says that the "Cell" is boring. The same is what Piccolo now says when his opponent introduced himself as "Cell". Such a little taste xD
"Cell had some good lines" Cell is the only character besides regular canon Beerus to hit so hard that he transcended the show and became his own thing. DBZA's Cell had such a strong impact that it quite literally leaked into the regular canon and the canon version is now an utter smartass that's quite frankly quicker on his feet verbally and thematically than most of the cast... except Beerus. Beerus is basically Cell if Cell was good. He's not going to put up with your shit and he's got better things to do today like going into a pizza coma or taking a nap, so you better have brought your AAA game *or else*. OmG Cell is so damn unsettling but surprisingly funny too. Him being mixture of all the greatest fighters is pretty cool. The way Piccolo Nail Kami just watch him copy Special beam cannon was great. But that bit with Vegeta at the end is perfect cherry on top
i am so happy that you've met cell now, this is where DBZA shines the brightest; we've get vegeta, androids 16, 17, and 18, cell, goku, piccolo and the green man group. It just gets better and better.
I told you before, you’re not prepared for Cell. But isn’t he such a magnificent bastard? He’s a fan favorite for good reason. Also, if you noticed the contributions to his DNA, it’s actually pretty scary. Humans, who adapt well and think creatively. Saiyans, who live for battle and grow stronger with each fight. Namekian, who senses energy and packs great regeneration. And Freeza, the most ruthless warlord in the living universe, and who can survive in practically any environment (remember, he can breathe in the vacuum of space). That is a terrifying combination. Think about it.
It's funny because that spin kick move is in the DBZ gameboy advanced game called the Legacy of Goku 2 when you play as Piccolo he stops and spins around lol.

What's disturbing about Cell is that, when he absorbs people he injects them with a digestive enzyme then just sucks them up kinda like certain spider species do the same to cocooned prey.
Interestingly enough, at this specific point in the series, Piccolo is canonically the *strongest* main cast member and the second strongest character *period* for a decent amount of time.
That whole joke when Gohan was saying how he was feeling peoples energy in Cell and the whole thing with Yamancha was actually a joke. Basically the implication being Cell is made up of all the Z-fighters cells. Well in the actual it show there were 5 people that made up Cell. That was Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Frieza, and Friezas dad King Cold. TFS decided to make this a joke by saying all the Z-fighters including Krillin and Tien with the exception of Yamancha made up Cell. The implication being that Cell is suppose to be this perfect being with the genetics of everyone and Yamancha is so inferior that he is the only one that is not part of Cell lol. Gohan: “it feels like everyone we know is fighting Mr. Piccolo” Krillin: “except for Yamancha” Yamancha: “well duh thats because I am here” Krillin: “yeah thats probably it” Yamncha is definitely the brunt of TFS jokes. Krillin may get the own count but TFS still gives him some good moments where I can’t even think of one good moment that ever gave Yamancha lol.
He is correct that 17 and 18 are CYBORGS and not androids. An android is a robot built to have a human appearance, like IRobot or C-3PO A Cyborg is a person that has robotic parts put inside them. 17 and 18 use to be normal humans until Dr. Gero experimented on them making them cyborgs
So fun Fact, and a bit of a long one so stay with me on this, android 19 and 20 (aka Gero and the fat clown) were supposed to be the main villains for this part of DBZ. Toriyama's editor, Kazuhiko Torishima, responded to there designs as such, "I expected the next BIG Dragonball Villains.... but isn't this a geezer and fatso?" Toriyama quickly created 17 and 18 instead. Torishima then responded to them, "so now you've made some brats?" And thus Toriyama quickly made Cell as a work around against executive meddling
Fun Fact: Cell was brought into fruition when Cyborgs 17 and 18 who, like Androids 19 and 20, were not good enough as villains and was disapproved by the editor, labelled as 'a couple of brats'. Although I don't see anything wrong with the twins personally, I gotta say it's thanks to the editor that a cool villain was born.
There's something that you seemed to have not noticed. If you go back to the solar flares between season 2 and going on, they leave encrypted pictures that Flash for a brief second. The 1st one is in episode 14 I believe. The next one is episode 25, And then the next one is in this episode. I believe there's more to come. Go back and look at them. It's a call back to the goku fajita fight when vegeta was the mighty ozaroo. Goku used the solar flare and Vegeta says oh God my eyes it's like walking in on freza naked in the shower. There's no solar flare in that one, but continuing on, they added little pictures that Flash for a brief second.

The deja vu reference is because in a third timeline Trunks destroyed the androids and as such were unavailable to cell. So cell killed that Trunks and used the machine to go back to where the androids existed

Cell is the only character besides regular canon Beerus to hit so hard that he transcended the show and became his own thing. DBZA's Cell had such a strong impact that it quite literally leaked into the regular canon and the canon version is now an utter smartass that's quite frankly quicker on his feet verbally and thematically than most of the cast... except Beerus.
Beerus is basically Cell if Cell was good. He's not going to put up with your shit and he's got better things to do today like going into a pizza coma or taking a nap, so you better have brought your AAA game *or else*. Also King of the comeback.

The actual story of the Cell Saga is pretty legit - one of the very few cases where time travel doesn't completely ruin the story telling.

OmG Cell is so damn unsettling but surprisingly funny too. Him being mixture of all the greatest fighters is pretty cool. The way Piccolo Nail Kami just watch him copy Special beam cannon was great. But that bit with Vegeta at the end is perfect cherry on top
i am so happy that you've met cell now, this is where DBZA shines the brightest; we've get vegeta, androids 16, 17, and 18, cell, goku, piccolo and the green man group. It just gets better and better.

Also, if you noticed the contributions to his DNA, it’s actually pretty scary. Humans, who adapt well and think creatively. Saiyans, who live for battle and grow stronger with each fight. Namekian, who senses energy and packs great regeneration. And Freeza, the most ruthless warlord in the living universe, and who can survive in practically any environment (remember, he can breathe in the vacuum of space). That is a terrifying combination. Think about it.

Cell isn't complete yet but this is what makes him a constant creeping threat to everyone.
What's disturbing about Cell is that, when he absorbs people he injects them with a digestive enzyme then just sucks them up kinda like certain spider species do the same to cocooned prey.
Interestingly enough, at this specific point in the series, Piccolo is canonically the *strongest* main cast member and the second strongest character *period* for a decent amount of time.

That whole joke when Gohan was saying how he was feeling peoples energy in Cell and the whole thing with Yamancha was actually a joke. Basically the implication being Cell is made up of all the Z-fighters cells. Well in the actual it show there were 5 people that made up Cell. That was Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Frieza, and Friezas dad King Cold.
TFS decided to make this a joke by saying all the Z-fighters including Krillin and Tien with the exception of Yamancha made up Cell. The implication being that Cell is suppose to be this perfect being with the genetics of everyone and Yamancha is so inferior that he is the only one that is not part of Cell lol.
Gohan: “it feels like everyone we know is fighting Mr. Piccolo”
Krillin: “except for Yamancha”
Yamancha: “well duh thats because I am here”
Krillin: “yeah thats probably it”
Yamncha is definitely the brunt of TFS jokes. Krillin may get the own count but TFS still gives him some good moments where I can’t even think of one good moment that ever gave Yamancha lol.
not sure if you know or not but, every time the "Solarflare" is used in the abridged series a hidden frame is shown for a split second.
seeing this again makes me wish they did more of the episodes. at least we got to see the end of this arc :D

A Cyborg is a person that has robotic parts put inside them. 17 and 18 use to be normal humans until Dr. Gero experimented on them making them cyborgs

So fun Fact, and a bit of a long one so stay with me on this, android 19 and 20 (aka Gero and the fat clown) were supposed to be the main villains for this part of DBZ. Toriyama's editor, Kazuhiko Torishima, responded to there designs as such, "I expected the next BIG Dragonball Villains.... but isn't this a geezer and fatso?" Toriyama quickly created 17 and 18 instead. Torishima then responded to them, "so now you've made some brats?" And thus Toriyama quickly made Cell as a work around against executive meddling

Fun Fact: Cell was brought into fruition when Cyborgs 17 and 18 who, like Androids 19 and 20, were not good enough as villains and was disapproved by the editor, labelled as 'a couple of brats'.
Although I don't see anything wrong with the twins personally, I gotta say it's thanks to the editor that a cool villain was born.
There's something that you seemed to have not noticed. If you go back to the solar flares between season 2 and going on, they leave encrypted pictures that Flash for a brief second.
The 1st one is in episode 14 I believe. The next one is episode 25, And then the next one is in this episode. I believe there's more to come. Go back and look at them. It's a call back to the goku fajita fight when vegeta was the mighty ozaroo. Goku used the solar flare and Vegeta says oh God my eyes it's like walking in on freza naked in the shower. There's no solar flare in that one, but continuing on, they added little pictures that Flash for a brief second.

The deja vu reference is because in a third timeline Trunks destroyed the androids and as such were unavailable to cell. So cell killed that Trunks and used the machine to go back to where the androids existed
