Damar's arc is one of the greatest in Star Trek. From nobody to valued aide, to ersatz leader to drunk, and then, finally, resistance fighter and one of the great leaders in history. His fortunes mirror that of his people. The Cardassians were not fighting well in the last half of 2375, to be eclipsed by the Breen. But in due time, the Dominion and Breen will learn the hard way that a motivated Cardassian military can be very effective. It is also ironic, that the Dominion's heavy-handedness is what allowed a good portion of the Cardassian Fleet to spend much of the crucial last month on the sidelines while the Dominion and Breen fought some bloody battles with the Allies. That rest allowed for some consolidation and rehabilitation from the past six months. That preserved strength, combined with righteous fury and knowing the weaknesses of their former allies, hammered the Dominion Fleet in the final battle.

The politics of the Breen deciding to throw in their lot with the Dominion when the tide was turning against them is a subject that has never been fully flushed out to my knowledge. LOVING these videos!!!!
I think the Breen were too confident that their energy dampening weapon would be the indispensable key to victory. Had the fates not allowed for the lone Klingon battle cruiser to survive Chintoka, they would have been right too. Then the Breen would have been viewed as the saviors of the Dominion's expedition to the Alfa Quadrant, gaining the majority favor of the Founder. The Breen hoped that this would allow them to put all the powers of the Alfa and Beta Quadrants under their boots.
You can figure this out from the imprisonment of the breen and doctor Bashir and Worf. They infiltrated the breen and replaced their leaders with changelings and then brought them into the war.
@@MrScientifictutor I got that the Dominion infiltrated the Breen and made them some big promises, the fact that they were pretty isolationist and marginal then did a huge about face and exploded onto the scene is a story with great potential. The fact that we know so little about their culture and outlook really adds to their mystique.

I think they knew they would have a better negotiating position because the dominion was losing and they were promised earth and romulans. And who knows what else in spoils

Indeed...and it was a Bird of Prey...IIRC...the reason she survived is that her Chief Engineer made an adjustment to the Trilitium Matrix in the Warp Core to deal with a resonance and by complete coincidence...it rendered her immune to the energy-dampening weapon.
The Klingons hunting Breen during large engagements feels like an incredibly high-stakes minigame. Like, everyone else is fighting a big battle, but there’s also a Seeker trying to catch the Snitch. Succeed or fail, the greater battle is likely to swing on this one factor

Captains log uss Normandy Adm Caughey in command. So as we sit and do nothing yet again we rely on our Klingon Allies to do the fighting where we can’t. Many of the Warriors and officers of the KDF know I would like to charge in with them guns blazing but I can’t owing to that damned energy damper weapon. The ex Maquis on my crew though are fine with blasting cardassians any day of the week though. After being briefed on Damar’s rebellion spec ops has been requested to come up with ways to help them. We’ve got a few ideas but so far they involve cloaked insanity runs by fast escort ships or use of captured dominion warships ( which the foreign tech guys don’t wanna give up). We’ve been moved to the southern front again to reduce our chances of being taken out by the breen. I know my spec ops units have been ordered to secure a breen weapon at all costs ( I gave the order myself) and the corps of engineers are desperately combing through every battle to try to find one. I have to believe we’ll get lucky, just in case I’ve spoken with the pirates I worked with and offered a substantial reward of gold pressed latinum to the first one who brings me one that still works. I wanna be back on the front ASAP and I believe someone will crack this. If successful one of those pirates will be very wealthy, and I’ll probably score yet another medal ( not like I need anymore) Adm Caughey out

What I would have loved to see (but of course never actually happened) is if the Federation pulled out a "Reverse Uno" on the Dominion in reaction to Breen deployment: "So you have the Breen in The Dominion, now? Fine. We managed to convince the Tholians to assist our side. Have fun dealing with these webs!"

I love to hate the breen. I would love to see a series on starfleet retribution against them, considering the damage they caused on earth and for sticking their noses where it don't belong (if they have noses)
Q & A: In "The Dominion War Arms Race" video, you recount how the Federation has changed their doctrine, with one reason to reassign senior officers for higher command positions as losses during the war have eroded that cadre. That doctrine change also answered a need to integrate with Klingons battle doctrine. Have the losses during the war also ended the practice of assigning ships mainly crewed by the same Federation species together at the wing level or below, with a commander of that species? Has it been found that certain Federation species get better or worse results when matched in joint operations with Klingon squadrons and wings?
Maybe that could be an in-inverse explanation for the more diverse crew of the Cerritos on Lower Decks (when the real explanation is being animated allows for more alien characters since makeup isn't an issue).

There are three factors, that will decide the course of the war in these last vital months or so; Federation ability to counter the breen energy weapon in time, the fate/success of the cardassian resistance and the madness of a certain klingon chancellor attempting to claim glory for himself at detriment of the alliance..
I'm still half expecting the Dominion to discover that the Ferengi are behind the pirate raids on the Sona. The Orion Syndicate is working with the Dominion and the Ferengi are the only ones with ships big enough to take down a Sona Warship.
@@tomgjgj All true, but whoever the pirates are, they went from raiding ships to attacking Sona worlds. If you've seen Insurrection, the Sona are not exactly unarmed. A converted freighter or an old K'tinga isn't going to cut it. A D'kora has the size and the Ferengi have weapons that can temporarily disable a ship and crew.

look back to back episode...take your time to do it well like you did in the beginning, and then doing videos of each battle for that months update...it just feels like you just want to be done with this, in fact I think you were doing a wonder job.
I would love to know what was happening on Batazed all this time, the Dominion had possession of it for most of the war. Was it just used as a base ? Was there a Resistance movement ? Did they fully recover ?

Breen Chel Grett ships now have the survival time in battle of a bottle of blood wine. Totally against the doctrine of being pirates or whatever.
