What does "... arising out of habitual incontinence..." St Alphonsus referred here to mean?
I have sometimes felt inspired to be a religious but I also think it is not for me since I have been trying to overcome sexual sins.I feel if I am truly called I should be able to stay away from sexual sin for a long time at least so that I don't end up regretting why I entered.
I also think I have a responsibility to my parents to care for them and until I am able to at least pass it to my siblings then I can also consider joining a religious life without thinking if they are ok.
I have lately been thinking about the Carthursians of St Bruno because I would like to leave the world completely if I am joining a religious but am at the same apprehensive because of their strict observance.
I pray God grants me clarity on what he wants from me and give me the grace of overcoming my habitual sexual sins.
You are correct in thinking you should not enter religious life having been unable to be pure. If though you are able to be free of mortal sin for at least one year then after this time you should then consider it to be no longer an obstacle.
Pray 15 decades of the Holy Rosary every daily in Latin. You cannot become free of sexual sin by yourself. Only by God.
@@jenss.3613 There needs to be a starting point, if he is coming in at point zero, that prescription is too heavy. He needs a spiritual director.
@@giasone777 speaking from experience actually. I was the worst slave to sexual sin. I even committed adultery at a point. After half a year of the praying the Rosary, I have completely lost all sexual desire. I don't even have such dreams at night.

Vocations to religious life are very complex and there is no one sweeping answer for anybody. Religious life should only be discerned with the help of a good spiritual director, preferable a holy experienced priest.
