Definitely one of the best music ever. I have had the Rurouni Kenshin OAV OST (Trust and betrayal) for over 18 years now. It has been played at least a thousand time: in my car, my cd player, my MP3 player. Years later, it’s still playing in my car. My kids LOVE it. The beautiful melodies, the sadness, the action. How the winds instruments interact with each other. The chords. It feels like there is meaning to this music, it’s touching. Sometimes I put it away for a few months, then it comes back again. Thank you for writing such beautiful music.

This song express SO MUCH of a lingering sorrow feeling for almost the whole initial part, keeping it's pace through tense connections between bars and really beautiful resolutions in the MIDDLE of the sections, giving the flow a "it's beautiful, but it's also continuously tragic" vibe to it. Then it comes a great ascension, which is born from the same motif as the rest of the song and can be interpreted as a peak and end of a war, and then - after that - you expect it to resolve, right? But no, the lingering sorrow continues, but this time silenter. This comes to prove that you can make a masterpiece with a few riffs and still get legit chills from your audience.
Years go by and I still have all these feelings for this soundtrack. God, I would give anything to listen to this in person 😭 thanks a lot Taku Iwasaki ❤

I could remember the first time I watched the Kenshin anime almost 20 years ago
September 2020, Still enjoying this song. The best anime and soundtrack ever! Until now, every time I hear this song, I can feel Kenshin's pain. 😢
