Flankymanga Same here, Rurouni Kenshin is my first true anime experience (I don't count DN for reasons) and I must say I WAS STUNNED. Although old, it was too good to describe for me. At first I believed that this must be because my lack of anime knowledge that I believed Kenshin is the best. After watching over 250 series, I still think that it is one of the best anime out there and my personal favorite. Taku Iwasaki still remains my favorite with RK-Kotowari, Noragami-Lurk In The Dark and Mahouka-Miyuki soundtracks.
This OVA is what got me hooked on anime, and the eerie thing is. I understood it's powerful message on the first go as a kid... But even now there is a lot of symbolism in it still, which I think a lot of people have not caught up on. (the red dragonfly, etc.)
Cherry blossoms in Spring. Stars cover the sky on Summer. Full moon shines on Autumn and in Winter, the snow covers the ground. All these things make sake taste good. If it tastes bad, it's because there is something wrong in you.
the movie brought me here again, hearing this songs each time makes me goosebumps. Keishin is my first anime at that time i was to too young to understand the anime but i do remember this BGM and love it the most until now. Hope i could here Kenshin's live concert once in my life time

Years ago a told several friends of mine that the soundtrack of these OAVS of Rurouni Kenshin were my favorite of all anime for me and how awesome would be listen to it live. Literally, I was like in shock, crying the whole video. This is simple amazing. Oh God, really, one of my dreams just came true.

Kenshin embriagado por un idealismo se sumerge de lleno en los conflictos políticos pretendiendo ayudar al desposeído terminando, paradojicamente, dándose cuenta que es él quien termina siendo un carnicero. Luego cuando se hace un Rurouni y empieza la trama del anime se podría decir que aprendiz ha superado al maestro tanto en técnica como filosofía, pues si tienes las herramientas para hacer un mundo mejor deberías involucrarte, siendo consciente que muy probablemente tu ayuda sea fútil y probablemente estés equivocado. Esa tesis se plantea en el enfrentamiento de Shishio y Kenshin este último concluyendo que en realidad no podía darle un argumento de peso a Shishio de estar equivocado, lo que históricamente termino dándole la razón al segundo Batusai. What tragedy befalls a man who could not protect his close guardians from harm as a youth, only to be beset by anguish and despair due to the power he sought out of the very sense of righteous justice that took him on this path in the first place. He was bound to walk this path, but forewarned on the consequences and what that life would do to him and had to offer. But brazen, young and naive as he was, he thought he could fix it all. (You can never change the truth of a Sword) The hardest lesson and thing to me, is that Tomoe had to die for the circle to be closed, and for Kenshin to leave his old self behind. Having now learned what it means to live and what a human life is worth, that is what she showed him. And as a final form of respect to Kiyosato so his soul could find peace, she had to witness Kenshin's beating at the hands of the shinobi. All to close the circle of pain, by giving her life so he could actually LIVE his. There is a reason why men who fight or are warriors would rather avoid a fight than take a life, it is the inherent knowledge of self, the appreciation of life that keeps them from taking it. And solely out of a necessity does one take up the sword or fight for that matter. He simply lost the will to live, through the killing he had done. Even if for a greater purpose, you cannot help but be reminded. He was an assassin, not a samurai. There was no honor in it, only the task. This will kill you on the inside, as seen when he randomly dreams of murdering Tomoe out of the blue. (broken psyche/mistrust/a traitor in their midst, repeated negative actions) - Karma building up. And the glare he shows at the conclusion when his task as an assassin has ended, and the new era has come to fruition? Phyrric sense of victory; for his countrymen the change they so needed and for himself a legacy he rightfully shuns, a hollow emptiness afterwards (enter his non-killing style) - He who has no sense of self worth or own life due to the actions he has committed, cannot protect another life, because he does not value his own life has resigned himself to death. (A sword must have a sheath, for without it. It can only become a mad blade that causes tragedies)
