    Thank you for posting this video esp with showing the drawings required by the county. 👍🏻

    Looks similar to what I'm going to need to do. We are looking at an aerobic septic system in Coconino County AZ. Could you tell me who you had design and install your system? Also, how much did it cost? Thanks!

    As an architect up in Ontario in Canada, I have done some houses here that have septic tanks and tile fields. Fairly common where there are no region/city/town sanitary sewers. Usually, they're accompanied by drilled water wells, because in remote locations one doesn't have sewers nor water lines.
    Very expensive at the end of the day.
    I've also done work in Europe where, in most jurisdictions, septic tanks with tile fields are illegal. Waste can, and does leech far and wide, and has been known to contaminate soil not just on your own property, but also neighbours' as well as any rivers that may be nearby.
    So, they do septic tanks only - large enough to accommodate 6 months or more of waste - then they have companies that go around pumping the stuff out. That system is by far less expensive than tank+tile fields. Clients have paid about 3,000 Euros for a tank whereas a complete system (tiles plus tank) can cost as much as 35-40,000 dollars in Canada.
    In addition, tanks will last more than a lifetime, whereas in North america you have to replace the tiles at some future time, and that itself can cost a bloody fortune.
    So, if I were doing another house that wasn't hooked up to the city, I would very much advocate only septic tanks and have the stuff pumped out when it fills up.

      Very good points, this is the standard out where we are, and theoretically the aerobic system with a chlorinator tank will help with contamination. However that being said our ultimate plan is to have incinerator toilets, and turn the septic into a grey water system, using the chlorinator tank as a holding tank for the water before we pump it out and use it to water our trees and field. So ultimately there shouldn't be any waste water contamination

    Did you have to worry about the frost line when considering the depth of every thing?

      We did. Our frost line is 30 inches

    What’s up bro, I’ve been considering 5 acre Happy Jack lots, and it requires an alternative septic, what size is your tank and around what did it cost? I’d love to know and follow your progress. Thank you!

      So the tank itself I think is between 600 and 1,000 gallons. I can tell you right now if you are planning on installing your own septic system your only going to be able to get the alternative tank that home depot sells because suppliers won't sell you an alternative tank without you being a certified installer. The tank is going to cost about 7k. Then you'll have about 2k in leach chambers. Plus excavation.
      Our origional plan was to do it ourself but because of the issue getting the tank we hired someone. From talking to a lot of people that have had alternative systems built you are looking at about 3k for engineering, and then most installers won't touch it for under 15k, I've even heard of some who won't do it for under 20k.
      Not trying to put you off to the idea, but it was the largest expense in the entire process. I think the tank home depot sells is by norweco or somthing like that, and it has 3 chambers (the trash chamber, clarifying chamber, and clorinator chamber.)
      Hope that helps! And if you have any other questions let me know!

      @@PootsPastures thank you for the fast response! Not put off at all, I anticipated around 30k. So this gives me a little more hope. I’m binge watching your videos! Haha. If you like the company you used, please provide their name I will be sure to call them when I get the right lot size. 5 acre lots are practically gone in the Mongollon area. Thanks again and both of you keep up the good work!

      Well that's good, and I like the company my neighbors used a little more than who I used (the company I used was just 2 guys and it took them several weeks while it took the other company 2 days to complete). I'll get their name and let you know.

    I live in Williams and doing something similar to yours. Who helped you with the plans if I may ask?

    • @PootsPastures
      @PootsPastures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We went through CD&E for our septic plans. I can tell you that the alternative septic issue is a scam. I've looked at a few different plans they have made and they are all the same they just cookie cutter them out. And no one (but home depot) will sell you an alternative septic tank unless you are a certified installer. And I honestly doubt CD&E would spec the aerobic tank that home depot carries. Good luck!

      @@PootsPastures I'm in Williams as well and just got the answer that the lot doesn't qualify for conventional and we need to put in an alternative system ...

    Looks good. Question-how much was the engineering for the system?

    • @PootsPastures
      @PootsPastures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was a little under 3,000. It's pretty rediculous. I have a friend who had a system designed and we compared plans and it seems to be a cookie cutter design for our area.

    .. DID THE CONTRACTOR "BED" THE TANKS IN GRAVEL TO EVENLY SUPPORT THE WEIGHT or DID HE JUST DROP YOUR TANKS DIRECTLY ONTO THE ROCKY-SOIL..????? ...You Write the Checks ... When You "Gotta Go To Work" Tell Your Contractor that You Want "Video" or "Photos" of all of the Piping & Tank Installations to Document What He Did ... or better yet .. Just Negotiate With Your Employer to Let You Have Time-Off During Those Critical Periods of This Really Important Home Project .. DON'T BE "TIMID" ..
