I forgot to finish watching this, but I really appreciate the mention of "it doesn't matter that heat rises for exhaust fans, that's a much slower process than active airflow." I have LONG been confused by people's mention of this principle when talking about airflow, and finally someone has said what I thought to be obvious.
I was thinking the same thing. I worked with a lot of telecom gear with a default side-to-side airflow that had to have air baffles installed to accommodate the hot/cold aisle setup in some datacenters.
I love your reviews, you standardize things for the technical side and also thoroughly USE the things to find out how it feels to use something. Top notch.
Now that's the type of innovation I like to see, instead of more random angles and more "innovative" ways to obstruct intake fans on an "airflow" case Edit: One thing I'd love to see in these tests, is to do a "best possible setup" test. You've run 8 different tests, yet none were with both bottom and side intake (with top and back exhaust), which i found surprising, as that's where I'd imagine the seperation for the gpu would really help, and also (since it's aimed at enthusiasts) is what I'd imagine the most common setup would be. Of course that means it's not comparable to a flux pro with 6 fans, but as a consumer, I woudn't mind the extra $ for 10 fans compared to 6 fans on a 200$ case, and that's the layout I'd be most likely to choose.
I'd love to see a full fan config tested in the followup. I totally get why comparison is important for 100$ cases and that all reviews should have the same structure, but testing these high end cases at their full potential would be awesome.
Speaking of random angles and innovative ways to obstruct GPU fans... VERTICAL GPU mounting!!! I cannot abide. @@Xfade81 Hi. That is good to hear about the H1 case. I'm glad the riser and hopefully PCB are now safe. There is still the issue of lag / latency and also air flow with riser cables and vertical GPU orientation. To me it is just inventing a new complication which now must be solved, when there was never a reason to get complicated in the first place. It's another classic "case" (whoops, couldn't help myself!) of: If it ain't broke, don't fix it. All that said, I do think that the angled floor intake on the HAVN looks like a great idea with potentially actual good function.
Beautiful animation. I also love that you seem to have solved the problem of turbulence and that the empty front side of the case refuses to participate in the whole process completely. Kudos HAVN - these are the laws of physics every case should provide!
I like the move away from the old standardized fan setup for comparing case thermals. If two cases have comparable thermals with a sub-optimal fan setup but one of those cases scales much better than the other with the advent of additional fans I absolutely want to know that when making my purchase decisions. I appreciate you guys always self evaluating and making changes that you believe will bring the best possible information to your audience.
The innovative airflow, the small quality of life details, the optional side panel screws, great packing, an actually good manual... It's like they made the case just for GN!
i really hope they make a small form factor case one day, their design aesthetic is so good it's the first time i was appealed by a fishtank style case
I love the engineering-focused mindset and design philosophy that went into this case. A fan configuration that occurred to me when you brought up the VESA mount might actually resolve the GPU lower exhaust issue when using the standard V-GPU configuration with the redirection panel. Let's say someone installed a tablet or secondary screen to the right of the motherboard, or leaves the drive caddies in place, but leaves space for a 120mm or 140mm exhaust fan on the bottom. If the lower 'exhaust' fan on the left side was swapped to intake , it could help direct lower GPU exhaust air to the right and out the side of the case without too directly affecting the air pathways in the upper CPU cooler area.
I haven't built cases for a while, but I'm gonna start soon again as a side hobby & I love your deep dive reviews about everything. Thanks for making content and educating people.
the case review is nice, but the case itself is so stupid + overly complicated and hence overprized. thermals are much worse than my $39 case even with 4-degrees higher ambient temps as these tests... i believe the only credible part was the flow-animation which gives a rough idea... although we can still make well informed decisions by imagining the flow/hot-cold-mixture movement. i designed my own airflow pattern and happy with my temps at both 0 loads to max cpu+gpu loads, which are still better than the best shown here in this channel.
Wow, the quality of this case is exceptional. I hope this company sticks around, it's clear they really both care and know what they're doing. Usually you see this as a place where people cut corners but every single part of this case seems amazingly built.
Looks super cool, now I'm just waiting for the point in the video where Steve says "So it costs $400" lol EDIT: It's $200 for the boring one, $270 for the interesting one.
I like the case for the versatility of different setups even if they don't all work out, there was actual thought put into them which is more than I can say about far too many cases.
Even compared with an established brand, this case still stands. Who thought that a roller-locked mechanism was actually used beyond furniture and executed well in this PC case?
The thing I like most is the double back exhaust especially. This is a really nice start for a new Case manufacturer. The price is kind of overwhelming however. Hope they can give the bigger companies a run for their money.
Agree about the price. But then, the whole PC component market is completely out of control (apart from storage and RAM, which aren't exactly cheap but at least not totally crazy).
I think a second glass shroud to deflect the bottom heat from the GPU to a fan on the rear side of the case would help with getting rid of the heat and not having to double cool. Either way the temps were not a huge difference from the horizontal mount, and the layout is beautiful. I am now definitely planning on this case for my build. I am more about the looks of the case and internals than the heat as long as the heat isn't more than a couple degrees difference when going for looks.
I think we're in a golden age for PC cases. I''ll never forget how underwhelming most cases were circa 2016. Glass boxes with air-starved fans were the norm. In 2024, the sheer number of case designs and airflow configurations is staggering. Frankly, it'd be tough making a decision because there's a lot of really good competition. Further, your case reviews are unquestionably the best right now. The effort in 3D animating all of these airflow configurations and their pros and cons is something nobody else is doing and really sets your already very good reviews apart. Love it.
I really enjoyed this entire video which I totally watched… My favorite part was where you collaborated with Steve from HWUB to release your new line of STEVE fans. Super Thermally Effecient Vector-based Energy-mover Clever. I just hope you guys are sure to send those fans to neutral parties for review, but really proud of you guys man!
It's nice to see companies try to innovate and think out of the box for once! Also, a note: Steve, you may want to "decouple" your mic from your desk (i.e: 14:53, 15:10 and so on)
always my go to for case reviews. keep up the amazing work! p.s. your animators did better than ever this time. that animation at around 10 minutes was BUTTERY smooth.
With all the future tech's impetus on mobility, it's so nice to see videos like this showcasing the static cases that powerful computing reside in! Today, the spotlight is (usually) on phones and tablets, yet for the cost of less than many of those, something like this tech allows us to enjoy the life of not being in motion all the time!
Dear Lian Li. Pay attention. HAVN's instructions are how you do case instructions. I swear to god that Lian Li's instructions feel like I'm some archaeologist trying to decrypt a hieroglyphic language.
Steve, it's great to see that you start testing different fan configurations. Many modern cases have tons of options for fans and I think consumers should know which is better.
Wow, what a case! Very exciting to see so many innovative design ideas coupled with great quality and attention to detail at a pretty reasonable price. I'd buy it.
I love seeing compaines trying new things, attempting to truly innovate in the case space. And even more, I love seeing designers give such attention to the details that make or break a case for ease of use. Big kudos to HAVN for this first offering!
6:31 Love that idea of having rubber like strips on the pass through for cables vs the rubber grommets. I always hated how the rubber grommets come off the pass through when passing MB or PCI cables. Packaging, an actual manual, overall innovation, the efforts made to present this case is outstanding!
I commented on a previous video about the case fan testing methodology. I'm really glad you're looking at this again! I know it's tricky, but this feels like a really good step in the right direction. As consumers, "included fans" are not really optimal for anyone even moderately an enthusiast. I don't expect anyone at GN is running stock configuration on any of their personal rigs! This case is also very interesting. I'm keen to see how HAVN look in the market longer term. With Antec, Montech, and now HAVN, the case market is getting pretty competitive. This is fantastic!
This is the first "aquarium" (glass front panel) style case I've been interested in. More functional improvements than just aesthetics like the Hyte cases.
I love how proud you are of the 3D animations and how explicitly pointing out their existence is a must every time. 😅 Just poking a little. They really are quite helpful
I really love this case! But let’s be real, not many will be using a 4070 ti or an air cpu cooler with this case. I’d love to see high end cases tested with high end hardware like 4090’s to see what’s the worst case scenario if you’re using the best hardware. Also I’d be willing to bet 90% of people will use an aio for cpu cooling also Thanks for the super detailed review and animations ! I really love this so much. I just really want to see more detailed airflow animations when you’re using high end hardware with a high end case. If I’m spending 270$ on a case I won’t cheap out on anything. I’ve bought several 250-400$ cases before and always will use whatever the best of the best at the time in them. What suxks is when I do that and the temps are worse than advertised or reviewed because they were not tested or advertised to work with high end hardware. One would only assume a 270$ case would perform better than a 150$ case but in my experience price doesn’t mean performance anymore.
x2 on many people using aio for either gpu or cpu, i'm doing that but i'd want this case in part because carpet underneath isn't going to interfere with the bottom intake fans, which few case manufacturers address... there are ways to improve this case, including using 30mm thick fans for more airflow at lower noise levels.
after years of watching your videos, your quality has increased so much that I finally decided to subscribe to your channel by the way: to improve the cooling performance, you can double the plastic ventilation duct with spacers and add a second layer... the "radiated " (infrared) waste heat then cannot seep through the cover if the lowest side-mounted fan pump its air into the gap as insulation, for this you would have to form an inlet that sends a large part of the sucked-in air in there
Love these animations and visual representation of different scenarios. Much better than reading through forums. I can optimize my build with all this information. Thanks
So many options on this one. I really liked those rollers for the panels and the obround outcuts on the side panel. looks really smooth. And seems like a good metal-to airflow ratio. VERY nice first showing.
lol Steve's sarcastic humour is so deep he SPECIFICALLY timed opening that door to "opens doors". 😆 I saw that silly grin, you knew what you were doing. 😛

How? The fans dont cool the hot GPU air, it just throws it around the case for no damn reason.
The Phanteks NV cases also let you angle the bottom fans.
I like they worked around the biggest flaw though. The selling point is that class panel curve and they try to effectively splash airflow off of it.
This looks like a solidly built case - no sharp pointy thin metal edges or much plastics anywhere, looks like a pretty nice design overall - liked! :)
Quite clever, finally someone breaks with tradition and thinks outside the box 😊
It's more that they are thinking very well _inside_ the box. 😁
@@zivzulander I see what you did there lol 😂
Hey give some props to the Tryx Luca case, they at least tried to break tradition, but ultimately ended up breaking their side panel 😂
@@bogganalseryd2324 Of course you do, half of the box is transparent.
the case review is nice, but the case itself is so stupid + overly complicated and hence overprized. thermals are much worse than my $39 case even with 4-degrees higher ambient temps as these tests... i believe the only credible part was the flow-animation which gives a rough idea... although we can still make well informed decisions by imagining the flow/hot-cold-mixture movement. i designed my own airflow pattern and happy with my temps at both 0 loads to max cpu+gpu loads, which are still better than the best shown here in this channel.
very interesting case. nice to see something different, instead of everyone just copying the popular designs
Wow, the quality of this case is exceptional. I hope this company sticks around, it's clear they really both care and know what they're doing. Usually you see this as a place where people cut corners but every single part of this case seems amazingly built.
Okay. Now I need cooling guides for Computer cases shaped like D4/6/8/10/12/20s.
Got it. We'll immediately get on making some cases out of dice!
@@GamersNexus Excellent. You can combine D&D 3.5, obscure geometric shapes, and computer cases all in one video!
And another shaped like a rover, call it Pathfinder.
First review of this case I've watched and no need to watch anymore. Thanks
Looks super cool, now I'm just waiting for the point in the video where Steve says "So it costs $400" lol
EDIT: It's $200 for the boring one, $270 for the interesting one.
Nope.... 200+16 and 270+ 20....
seems reasonable to me
@@JoshTrue-xt9bf ..........
@@blackasthesky also....add all the fans...

I like the case for the versatility of different setups even if they don't all work out, there was actual thought put into them which is more than I can say about far too many cases.
I really apreciate the extra work in making the air flow graphics. It helps a lot to understand what you are taking about.
This is a very impressive case all things considered, for a new brand.
Even compared with an established brand, this case still stands. Who thought that a roller-locked mechanism was actually used beyond furniture and executed well in this PC case?
I absolutely love it when you drop 3.5 callouts / references.
Love it.
I really enjoyed this entire video which I totally watched…
My favorite part was where you collaborated with Steve from HWUB to release your new line of STEVE fans.
Super
Thermally
Effecient
Vector-based
Energy-mover
Clever. I just hope you guys are sure to send those fans to neutral parties for review, but really proud of you guys man!
Wow, this is a great case. Don't need the best performer, rather a case I can use to switch components, cleaning etc. Thanks, Steve and team!
The screwbag inside a screwbag is a gem.
god i love the all in technical approach you guys do with reviews like this.
Holy.... That is actual air cooling innovation 😮 I want it even though my case if perfectly fine 😂
It's a beautiful looking case... gives me a modern caselabs vibe style case with build quality.
I dont get it, i'd just get the Phanteks NV7 or 9 instead of this. NV7 is cheaper too.
The 3d animation + explanation is wild. Great video as always
I'm gonna buy it. Awesome video and great work on the animations!
Wow the animations are getting better, super solid work
6:31 Love that idea of having rubber like strips on the pass through for cables vs the rubber grommets. I always hated how the rubber grommets come off the pass through when passing MB or PCI cables. Packaging, an actual manual, overall innovation, the efforts made to present this case is outstanding!
Your dedication in this test is amazing, keep the good work !
Fluid dynamics engineer here: the targeted optimized air flow only works when every single fan blade lights up in da different RGB color.
that's what I want to see from the industry ! innovation, new concepts and good execution and attention to detail. also the case is cool too
More case reviews... more.... MORE!
Steve is still on 3.5E. A man of culture
Came here to say this, #represent!
thank you for doing the many different fan configurations! your efforts are appreciated 🤘
I really love this case! But let’s be real, not many will be using a 4070 ti or an air cpu cooler with this case. I’d love to see high end cases tested with high end hardware like 4090’s to see what’s the worst case scenario if you’re using the best hardware. Also I’d be willing to bet 90% of people will use an aio for cpu cooling also
Thanks for the super detailed review and animations !
Looks like a really well designed case with a lot of configs. Your testing is always amazing!!!
honestly I absolutely love how they did the storage on this case those drive bays look so easy to slot in and out and they just look good
after years of watching your videos, your quality has increased so much that I finally decided to subscribe to your channel
by the way: to improve the cooling performance, you can double the plastic ventilation duct with spacers and add a second layer... the "radiated " (infrared) waste heat then cannot seep through the cover if the lowest side-mounted fan pump its air into the gap as insulation, for this you would have to form an inlet that sends a large part of the sucked-in air in there
wow lmao
Amazing 3d model animations on this one! Thank you for all your work for thorough and objective reviews!
4:44 My poor eyes
That animation was excellent to convey your points on air flow. Great review video
Cases's Nexus...By the way I am hoping everyone's getting enough sleep in between CPU benchmarks that you're all doing in the back!
Love all the D&D references lately! Awesome video per usual, keep up the great work!!
3:00 audio glitch. FYI
Nah, keep it. It's cool
30:30 70 bucks is rly cheap for a pcie 5.0 riser only and the vertical stuff is cool, so kinda worth it
I'm specifically subscribed for the obscure geometric shape content. Top tier stuff.
That case deserve a FULL Noctua setup, Period ! , pretty sure Temps will be very different !
lol Steve's sarcastic humour is so deep he SPECIFICALLY timed opening that door to "opens doors". 😆
I saw that silly grin, you knew what you were doing. 😛
0:12 you liked WHATTING on this?!?

The juice cannot be put back into my mind grapes after that imagery 😑
@@zivzulander mind.. grapes. 🤔
Maybe it's just late but I have thought about "mind grapes" for like two minutes straight.
It must be a sturdy case if you can stand on it
This is just really, really cool. I like folks are trying new things, I hope it finds some success!

@@GamersNexus I was a 2E guy in high school. Just started a Pathfinder Remaster campaign that's pretty rad so far.
