Watching this before THE KARATE KID(1984) trilogy is like watching Avengers Infinity War without having seen the previous Marvel movies.
It is a very great, popular trilogy that will do well for you

@@ayjayreacts3900 nah he does. Cobra Kai is a continuation of that story, you need to understand where the characters came from. Understand why Daniel held such a grudge against Johnny and Silver. Adds more to the story rather than just watching a couple vague flashbacks
Need to watch the karate kid movies
You would really enjoy watching the 3 movies before. Just squeeze them in between episodes 1 and 2. The first two hold up amazingly well and the 3rd one is a riot. It's really worth it and I imagine most karate kid fans here would watch those reactions

If you haven't seen the movies, for the first two seasons what you really need to watch is the first karate kid movie obviously there are references to the entire franchise but the must watch is the first one. Starting the third season the second movie is a must again and ending it it's better to watch the third one. Starting the forth season you should have already watch the last movie

This show is absolutely phenomenal, I really hope you keep watching it! But first you should at least watch the first Karate Kid movie. You don't need to have seen all of them, but getting the original story from Danny Russo's perspective is kind of integral to the viewing experience for Cobra Kai.

But I also like everyone learns lessons in this series. But everyone has their past and what they want to change. But it's hard to change when people like Danial point fingers at you like you can never change. It does bug me.

You definitely need to continue on with this show. However, I very highly recommend watching the original "Karate Kid" trilogy(The Karate Kid from 1984, The Karate Kid Part 2 & The Karate Kid Part 3) during or before you continue on. Because you'll need to know the history between the main characters(Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso) and other plotlines as the series goes on.

Also, the first two seasons of Cobra Kai were originally a TH-cam Red series, so beware of some pretty cringeworthy moments. This is one of the few shows that gets better the more you watch it instead of hitting a peak like the Flash and going downhill.
