    I love the poetic irony of Johnny working as a handyman when he rescued the kid from the bullies. In tne original movie, Mr. Miyagi was working as a handyman when he rescued Daniel from Johnny and his gang.

    In the age of reboots, remakes, sequels and prequels... this show had no business being as good as it is.

    An aspect of the series I enjoyed seeing evolve is Cobra Kai actually being a type of Tang Soo Do. The choreographer in the first film tried to make the characters have some distinctive styles.
    In the 3rd movie, Terry Silva mentions their master as being Korean, and decades later in the 3rd season of the show Kreese's teacher explicitly refers to it being TSD.

      @eli243lg4 3 ปีที่แล้ว +49

      I actually think that the teenage love part adds a lot to the series. Let's remember that Jonny and Daniel started fighting because of Ali. Now the kids are like a reflection of what they used to be. I think it adds to the story because it makes you understand a lot about the characters decisions. I'm trying really hard not to spoil anything, but we know that some characters went through a dark path with romantic love and or betrayals being part of the reason why. I'm not saying it's the most enjoyable part of the story, but it sure adds context and character development.

      The youth of today are so entitled they think they will never get old. They act like people messed up and became old. Can hear how he says “Oh he’s so OLD”, like as if it’s a personal failure of His. Besides the guy was in his early 50s when this started. He looks pretty good for 50. But yeah Lynyrd Skynyrd, Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Rocky, Star Wars, going out to bars and clubs to meet girls, after school scrappels, TBirds, Grand Prixs and pure American Pride vs Harry Potter, online dating, AI, man-buns, electric cars, and wokeness….. I have to say I’m very appreciative for the era. I grew up in. Things are so bad today I’m not even jealous of the young.
      There’s a good reason why this show is as successful as it is it’s got nothing to do with karate or the karate kid movie. It has to do with living vicariously through Jonny as he sticks it to all the millennials/Gen Zs

So I understand what it is like. How one can feel frustrated when they are reminded of How low in life they are. Karate actually saves me , physically , Mentally, Emotionally, Spiritually. I am now in poor Health , indigent. Alone mostly lonely. One failure in life and there is a Domino effect. This is How I relate to Cobra Cai... The tides has changed. I haven’t watched the Karate Kid movies since the mid 90s. I started watching this show a couple weeks ago with my 12 year old son and we are loving it. Just finished season 2. This is a well written story with great character development and pacing. The fight scenes are epic and the story in between sucks you in. Fantastic choreography at least in my eyes.
