  • It dawned on us that we have been running the 35" Maxxis Roxxzillas sticky competition tire and Polaris RZR Turbo gear reduction for a year now. So we decided to share our thoughts from over the last year.

    Thanks guys for the gear reduction numbers, been running 53-12-12 for almost a year on stock polaris axles, and just broke the left front at winrock this weekend. My wife and I love the reduction and since I did mine I have put the reduction on another four seater and a two seater too. The two seater was just a low gear side though, everybody loves the reductions, Thanks for the help.

    Man I have to say this!!! I watch a lot of your videos and just watched a few more but its safe to say sprinkles takes you to the wood shed!!! Lol... Maybe build yourself a male sprinkles!! I think you have a rock solid design with it!! I can suggest a name for it...

    • @CrashCitySxS
      @CrashCitySxS  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol. Amber and sprinkles work very well together. Out wheels all of us lol. She out did us again at black mountain recently. The four seater length is starting to be a problem as far as ground clearance so a buggy or shortening the wheelbase is definitely being talked about. Portals are not an option. Don’t want to be that wide. What would you name it?

    I’ve been watching y’all for 1/2 year. We like the same style riding for sure.
    I’m building a 2021 turbo s 4.
    Thinking hard about a gear reduction.
    Already got forward a arms, drive shaft carrier bearing, radios rods, trailing arms, tie rods. All high clearance orb. I’ve been on the fence about the 35’s though. Worried about putting too much pressure on the axils but more importantly the diff. What’s your thoughts

    • @CrashCitySxS
      @CrashCitySxS  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for hangin out with us! I’ve ran since last July I think on stock axles on the four seater. Finally broke a rear one Memorial Day weekend this year. If your foot isn’t too heavy 70% of the time you’ll get some life out of the axles. You’ve got the rs1 diff which is arguably as strong in stock form as a fully built billet turbo diff. The only time we’ve ever seen the rs1’s break is landing on the gas and spinning the tires out of control and then one bites and tink it’s broke. Youre adding torque with the gear reduction but it doesn’t take as much energy to get the tires turning and reduction makes it so much more controllable when crawling or nosing up on ledges and stuff. We don’t run anything heavier duty than rhino 2.0 axles have stock driveshaft right now. Things are going to break with any size tire. If you don’t have a super heavy right foot then don’t worry about getting 35’s. Not saying you won’t break anything. I just believe the chances of being more prone to break something are proportionate to your skinny pedal control. Tire weight and tread patterns can affect axle carnage too.

    One thing Ive noticed is when riding with people that dont have a gear reduction I need to shift back and forth between high and low more than I ever have. They can just go faster in low on regular trails. Still love it though. Small trade off.

    • @CrashCitySxS
      @CrashCitySxS  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe it’s our clutching we have but we can run high gear on regular green/blue trails, hill climbs and small stuff. Can cruise in high as slow 15-20mph. Drop to low on the hard marked trails. But you’re right. It is a small trade off. If only there were an upgrade part to be able to shift on the fly...

    • @GrimRZR
      @GrimRZR 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CrashCitySxS someone has mentioned they found a way to install synchronizers to be able to. It's not a huge issue I have just noticed it. I find myself in high at anything above 10nph for any amount of time

    • @CrashCitySxS
      @CrashCitySxS  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’d be cool to try out. It’s not too bad to be shifting gears. It’s worth it to get that low gear performance though

    • @charleystevens6227
      @charleystevens6227 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CrashCitySxS someone told me once that they didn't want gear reduction because they liked riding in low range 95% of the time. I have my rig setup to ride in high range 70% of the time and use low gear for when you are crawling really ruff terrain. Top speed for my buggy is around 60ish. She is defiantly a little BILLYGOAT.

    • @CrashCitySxS
      @CrashCitySxS  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Your options are limited. No internal reduction available for the 800. You could put portals on it. And I’d you get in some good trails clutching alone won’t help a lot going from a 26” tire to a 32”

    Dropping by to let you know I got the gear reduction installed that you recommended for my 35" Roxzilla Red labels. They are spot on! I think its one step deeper gear than you have in Vlad. 66 something?
    I followed your video's to do the install. Just riding around the yard it seems super low and should be perfect in the big rocks. No doubt the RZR is transformed.
    We are headed out next weekend to get it into some serious rocks and see how it does.
    Everyone asks about top speed. GPS confirmed 60mph at about 7300 rpm after reduction on 35" 'zillas (34" measured on the machine at 10psi). Speedo reads low by about 20%.
    I will bet others in our group do gear reductions after this weekend.
    Thanks Steven!!!!
