“I Make” Diresta Leather Belt Buckle

This fall I headed up to Jimmy Diresta's neck of the woods for an event called the Catskills Makers Camp and I thought it was only reasonable to make something “I Make” inspired. I’m assuming everyone is aware of Jimmy’s iconic “I Make” license plate, so I thought I would take inspiration from it and make a leather belt buckle version for him. I’m actually pretty surprised with how well it actually turned out but I’ll take it!

As I’ve done in the past, I cut out the exact same design out of the two different colored leathers with my laser. Then I could simply swap the different colored pieces together making the completed design. Then I attached a rectangular bracket and Chicago screw to the back to make it into a functioning belt buckle. I also sandwiched a credit card size piece of metal in between the front and back to give the buckle a little more rigidity which ended up working really well!
