DiResta: Skull Belt Buckle

- In each bi-monthly episode of DiResta (every other Wednesday at 2pm PT), artist and master builder Jimmy DiResta (Dirty Money, Hammered, Against the Grain, Trash for Cash) lets us into his workshop, to look over his shoulder while he builds whatever strikes his fancy. On this episode of DiResta, Jimmy casts a cool looking skull belt buckle, maybe to hold up his badass leather-aproned work pants from the last episode.
For more info on this video, tools, materials, sketchbook images, and Jimmy's notes on the build, check out this post on MAKE: blog.makezine.com/2013/04/17/d...

The amount of fun you can get with a set of wood chipping tools (or whatever those are called), a piece of wood and some creativity/imagination. Pretty awesome.
Hi!
Mr DiResta, you are a the true Jack of all trades!
I am impressed and inspired by your videos.
Keep up the good work!
Greetings from the Middle of Sweden.
These videos are so satisfying to watch.
Madam thank you for the love !!!! Happy to inspire !!
*You are a great painter and wood carver! My respect!*
Seeing6 the geniral disaray of your work bench brings back memorys of my own training in the makeing of jewelry business.
Welding, locksmithing, woodworking, drawing... Where did he learn to do all that stuff? This guy is amazing!
Favorite parts of your videos is when your hammering something. It just sounds and looks soo cool.
Watching the carving process is gratifying...

I hope I never stopping finding videos from you that are so cool - trying to find ideas of what I can make with a small 120VAC AIM 96J kiln

I love sand casting....nice job as always Jim
Very good work and great filming - thanks
I took metal shop back then in high school and the sand mixture is sand and water mixed together and leaves a impression of the model that Jimmy used. A lot of casting are made by using this method..
Great job they look amazing!
Saw a new DiResta video was posted. Made my day!

Respect from Romania
Respect for you Maestro !
I find also very impressive, the design of the belt attatchment. I know that it is not a big deal, but you did it with only one piece of iron strip, by bending it correctly, and i would have thought something more complex and difficult definitely .
And also i had never seen this clay mold beign made in reality, except from some movies or documentaries that only show you one bit and not the whole proccess, which is something i like with your videos instead.
That's amazing and amazingly simple... Thanks!
I could watch this on loop for a week. Lol awesome!
BOSS WORK MATE! HAPPY XMAS.

Amazing and multifaceted.
Amazingly awesome!
Super
Love these videos!
Best video yet
Snazzy ! While I am sure you could never tire of being told how awesome you are ..I am sure you hear it a lot but I have to say your talent exceeds what artists ,sculptures designers ,craftsmen , wood workers ,artisans and makers all aspire to be! You are all of these and more ..you are an immense talent technically and creatively !Thanks for the inspiration !
brilliant video! cheers!
This is flipping superb. Really wish Jimmy would cut down on the CNC machining on his own channel. Im all for technology but stuff like the above vid shows how damn talented he is and shows what’s in reach for those of us (most of us!) without a CNC machine.
I guess this is the first video where demonstration of the output is at the end! lol :)
Awesome as always
DiResta is the man!

That is some casting sand, just like regular sand so it can get in all the tiny little nooks but it sticks together really well when compacted

It might be considered pewter, or pewter might be ok, usually it's brittle though. In the description to this video it has a link to the make magazine website, from there you can find what exactly he used to make this.

Makes it look SOOOO easy...

its soldering tin
it melts when you heat it up with an torch its mostly known for cables and motherboards you see a small dot of silvery stuff where the cable connects
Amazing! I want to learn!
