I would like to add that Rannis Dark Moon (and Rennalas Full Moon) also absorb incoming magic attacks. So the moon spells are actually amazing against other caster type enemies or enemies that use magic.
The problem with Meteorite of Astel is that it requires the Flask of Wondrous Physick to temporarily avoid FP consumption, but has a much more limited range than Comet Azur
I wouldn't really call night comet a late game spell. It's in Sellia, town of sorcery. As soon as you get Torrent, you could go there. Lit the 3 flames and grab it from the chest behind the barrier You could get it within 20 minutes after making a new character, thus making the spell even better than you described
Btw frostbite effect is not receiving 20% more damage when affected by it, but rather reducing the resistances by 20%. So it depejs on how bulky the enemy is to see the difference. The ranni moon also absorbs incants and sorceries serving as a good bait for magic spammers.
Dude what? Thats like saying I don't eat with a fork, I use utensils to put food in my mouth. When you cause them to drop 20% resistance, they are now taking 20% more damage. Its not rocket science so stop trying to make it like so. Do you think you're smart?
I do wonder, is reducing 10 res to 8 the same as reducing 80 to 64? Im no matemathician but someone somewhere explained the diminishing return thingie in a video regarding stacking buffs to spam Astel Meteorite.
I wanna clarify something about Rannis Dark moon and Renallas Full moon. The debuff that it applies to enemies IS NOT 30% EXTRA DAMAGE, it just simply lowers there CURRENT negations by 30% (30% for Ranni assuming it procs frostbite, 10% for Renallas)
2x staff's for night comet is 69% dmg increase 1.3×1.3=1.69. So it's even more busted with all the other dmg increases in the game, all of them get multiplied on top of each other.
add ritual sword talisman, godfrey icon, graven mass talisman, magic scorpion charm, golden vow and howl of shibiri for one of the most stupidly broken builds in the game haha
Carian Piercer is amazing too, Gavel of Haima and Cannon of Haima should both be in the top 5. Also, Rock Sling is just necessary. It's damage falls of, but it's use against crystallians and magic resistant enemies is genuinely necessary on a pure magic build.
Not shown or discussed in the video, but I'd like to add that there's a jumping attack with the Carian Slicer. That gives the spell potentially the greatest mobility for a spell in the entire game, gives playing a mage a whole new dynamic cuz you don't always have to run away and cast. Great video regardless!
rock sling is also still really strong, especially early to mid game, so useful for staggering and also for enemies with resistance to magic damage. I always keep it on hand for enemies like that
Agree on night comet, but Stars of Ruin is top tier too. Especially because you can cast it on a horse, moving away from the enemy. So basically you can cast it on an enemy behind you.
I started elden ring as a samurai but decided to restart because i wanted to do a spell build. Glad i did because now i know about sword spells, its like the best of both worlds.
Thought number 1 would be glintstone spiral shard tbh Amazing cast speed with Icon and 40 dex, shreds through everything large and previously in charge, tracking like no other and a duration to boot! Surprised it didn't make the list tbh
For PvE you only need three spells: invisible form, rock sling and night comet. Rock sling has greater range than any bows or Loretta's greatbow. Pair with banished knight oleg or another super aggressive summon to keep aggro and the game is a breeze Get the gavel spell for enemies like crystallians
@@JTdaGoat2871 you gotta have something to drawn aggro, otherwise aggressive enemies like tree spirits are nearly impossible without great dodging skill. Could always leave them at base level

Slammed 60 intelligence and now I'm so powerful ( I beat elden beast at level 114 - now I'm level 128 in ng+1
Night comet is very nice, but i prefer using Jelly Shield (with 20 str 14 dex, so i can use buff mid fight without swapping to two handed). its +20% damage to *all* spells and damage types, and Comet deals more damage than Night Comet (need 2 staffs of loss to outperform, but then all other spells are weak). And Night Comet being invisible is nice, but the amount of damage that Stars of Ruin can pull of its like 2300 on night comet vs 6000 on stars of ruin, and enemies can't dodge stars of ruin either. Im running with Terra Magica + Comet Azur + Stars of Ruin + Adula Moonblade + Ranni Dark Moon + Loretta Longbow + Carian Slicer. Overall i'd say Adula Moonblade is the best spell, it just works everywhere and is incredibly fast, huge melee dmg, big stagger, big AOE, frostbite status. And vs bosses/minibosses and tanky enemies Comet Azur obviously, except for few Dragons and magic resistant enemies Meteorites of Astel is better, but its very rare, i just swap to it on place of grace if i need it.
Missing out quite a few spells imo, but then again, I find playing an int caster incredibly boring outside of pvp, so these are probably more pvp oriented. Zamor Ice storm and Night Maiden's Mist. These are excellent zoning and anti-camping tools. Zamor ice storm is also a get off me spell, since it makes out trading you very difficult as long as you are in the storm due to the continuous damage and frost buildup. Carian Piercer and Gavel of Haima. Carian Piercer is an excellent panic roll catch and Gavel is very good for people who roll into you to attempt a trade. Swift glintstone shard, star shower and shard spiral. Swift glintstone is your ranged bread and butter, being able to hit enemies while remaining extremely mobile, since you can cast this while jumping, running, and right after rolls with virtually no start up frames. Star shower is your option to get people to dodge continuously. Shard spiral gives you a chase down option, since it's a slow moving projectile that will force a roll eventually. It also chain casts with comet/ night comet. Magic glintblade and cannon of Haima. Magic glintblade allows you to setup traps and delays to discourage aggressive enemies as well as to force rolls. Cannon of haima allows you to lob a magic mortar shell at enemies over obstacles that may block you and prevent standard engagement. Collapsing stars. Pulls enemies off ledges and ladders. Can seperate crowds. Can be used to setup a panic roll and then a catch with Carian Piercer. From a pve perspective, you're missing out on rock sling and meteorite of astel, since they deal physical damage, they are vital for any mage build going against magic resistant enemies. The only pick I'd disagree with in the list is greatblade phalanx, simply because if you want an anti aggressor tool, the glintblade phalanx ash of war does more poise/ stance damage, uses a fraction of the fp, and costs no stamina.
Same, I used to find magic kinda boring. The last time I played Elden ring was a month after it’s release. I had already clocked in 230+ hours and beat the game like 7 times. I was burnt out. Came back now and made an intelligence build around the moonlight great sword. It’s beautiful. Since I have high intelligence I use a staff in my offhand and combining some strong spells with the moonlight greatsword might actually make me come back to the game
I just wish the game was more linear for repeated play throughs. Like a boss rush mode from sekiro. just want to fight all the bosses back to back without running for 30 minutes in between. And since i’m a high level, I just kill the bosses in 45 seconds and have to walk across the map for another one.
I've only beaten 1 story boss and I have night comet. I don't think you need to wait till late game to take out the enemies there--just a bloodhound fang will wipe the floor with the sorcerers. And 30 minutes of grinding to get the Int stat.
I am quite surprised that rock sling is not on the list because od it's good general use for pretty mucu everything.and it is especially use full when fighting magic resistant enemies like renala
It's good early game, but it's outclassed by a lot of things, mainly everything in this list. Like the other guy said, it takes a lot of time to cast, can't really spam it, and the rocks are so big they sometimes hit clutter and disappear, or straight up miss the target. It's definitely top tier at the start tho, and as you said, good against Rennala or Red Wolf. But you can just use a normal weapon at that point.
Agree with everything except I would put Rock Sling in Top 5 and Carian Slicer ahead of Moonblade because you can punish openings far more often for alot higher DPS.
Am i the only one still using night mist or whatever its called? Unlike Fia's death blight mist, the night mist is just a massive cloud of life sap. And the charge up makes the cloud insanely huge! Unga bungas can't even get close to you and it just MELTS PvE
Night comet is literally all you need. If you’re not going to use comet Azur for a stationary boss, you should be using night comet. No enemy can dodge it. Staff of loss for 30% dmg buff off hand. Lusat staff for extra dmg, not worth it imo, or carian staff. Best late game staff
I switched from Night Comet to Comet later on because it's simpler to use. Needing the offhand Staff of Loss is a bit of a hassle when you use melee weapons too.
Lol "won't be using as much" he says. @Brandon Desmarest that is fine but to even make the list when spells that are more than okay don't make it is absurd. Meteors not being on there is a travesty as it decimates harder against large enemies .
@@FierroSev It also depends whether we're talking about PvP or PvE since Loretta's Mastery is very useful in PvP while most meteor spells are hot garbage. Plus, as he mentioned, Loretta's bow is a EARLY TO MID game spell and Loretta's Mastery is just a better version. Plus Loretta's Mastery also has more use than meteor spells since if you wanna do big dmg to a big boss, just grab comet azure FFS; there is legit no reason in using meteor spells other than looking cool and doing an Astel cosplay.
Absolutely trash. Used to only kill snipers you can’t reach with anything else. That’s it
my comet azur does not travel that far, am i missing something?
can u use all this spell offhand?
Yes!
how come your not losing fp when using spells?
It's really dumb that many, if not most of these spells are just "magical" melee and ranged weapons. Why is it so hard for developers to make good mage classes?
And melee is just hitting something with a stick.
Waht sbout stars of ruin its easilly one of the besz

Why you do the video showing me every BOSS 🤡 you cant select another área? Normal área? 🙄 DISLIKE just for That mistake.
Phalanx spells suck. Its a shame that they're on here.
Greatblade Phalanx does a ton of poise damage, so you can easily stagger something when you combo it with something else.
Blue spells are literally trash. Aside from one. Int build's are boring.
