    I would just like to say that I started this without doing a gauge swatch, used the wrong size needles, and held two random yarns together to make this. I was perfectly on gauge. I had nowhere else to flex this so that is all.

    Thank you Ashley for this tutorial, I've knit quite a few hats and mittens but I've never felt I could graduate to sweaters or even vests due to the piecing together of the parts and also the commitment. This pattern looks like something I could perhaps manage so I will be keeping my eye out for some yarn I suppose to try this. Thank you so much in advance. I like that it's a bigger yarn that you used because it's important when a person is trying a project they feel they will complete it eventually, so this looks like it could build my confidence in moving past making hats hehehe.

    Hello Ashley, can I also use 8mm 80cm needles instead of 8 mm 40cm (16inch)?

      Hi there - you can use whatever length will comfortably fit all of the stitches for that section! Happy knitting!

    I’m making this vest, what needles are you using for the neck? My needle set has tips that are too long to make a 16” are your needles fixed? If so where can I get them? BTW I’m making your Fall bluff sweater too… love your videos!

    I just discovered you today. This is the type of common sense knitting info I've been looking for, since I'm a new knitter.
    I want to make the body length of this sweater longer, so that it covers the high hip. Can I assume that I would add the appropriate number of rows (on front & back obviously) between the ribbed waistband...and the armpit decreases to accomplish this longer length?? OR...do you have another pattern that is longer by design? Again, being new, I'm not sure how much I can play with the original pattern.
    The pattern indicates 3-5" of ease, based on the bust circumference being the chosen size. A bust measurement doesn't work if you're "hippy". Does that 5" ease include the waistband? If I chose a larger size, not for bust, but for hip coverage...seems like that would throw the upper pattern out of whack. How would you work out some of the ease up top...dropping stitches?? I don't even know where to start with this.
    My background is sewing & tailoring clothing, so it's easy for me to change literally every feature of a garment. Yarn, however, terrifies me!! :-)
    Thanks so much!

      so glad the video is helpful! I would just play around with adding length to the body (the section above the ribbing) and see how that works out for you! Feel free to check out my website with all of my designs! ashleylillis.com

    So I did 13 rows of 10 stitches in stockinette and it turned out as 3/3” but I’m really set on using this yarn (it’s pretty stretchy and I like the way it looks+I really want it to be more lightweight) I’m really new to making clothes and I’m about average in size. What would you recommend I do? I really hope this isn’t an annoying question lol

      Idk if it helps but I’m 35” for the bust, roughly 12.5” for the length (idk if I measured right tho), and about 8” for the armholes.

    Can I make this with straight needles?

    • @AshleyLillisKnits
      @AshleyLillisKnits  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi there! You’d have to make the fronts and back separately and then seam the side together if you want to knit or straight needles. You’ll need circular needles for the ribbing though!

      Unfortunately you can’t knit in the round on straight needles but you could modify this pattern to knit the front and back separately and then sew it together!
