If you haven’t yet, you should check out Cornelia Street and Death by a Thousand Cuts she performed for her Live in Paris concert. Just her, her voice, and her guitar. It’s very good
FYI this summer as a surprise song she sang You’re on Your Own Kid for her friend Stevie Knicks who was there and loves that song as it helped her grieve friend and former Fleetwood Mac band mate Christine McVie. I think you’d like that one as some one else also suggested. Have you done No Body, No Crime? That’s a story with her friends The Haim Sisters backing. “She was with me, dude”
Taylor did become a star in country quickly, and made a fairly big splash right away. Before her first album came out she had already built a following on MySpace (including me lol) when most of the industry hadn’t figured out social media would be important yet. There also just weren’t really teenage girls in country, moms in their 30s/40s were the main demographic and very few country artists were writing their own songs in the early 2000s so she stood out and brought a new audience in.
Whether you explore her NPR Tiny Desk concert, a live from Paris performance, a Long Pond Studio gig, or a huge tour production, you’re lucky you get to experience so much of it for the first time!
Some fan favourite acoustic performances from the eras tour are a mashup of I Hate It Here x The Lakes, a second mashup of Haunted x Exile, and Safe And Sound. All of them she sang during the acoustic set as one-time performances.
Tim McGraw (song) was her first single; there is a video. Teardrops on My Guitar was another single off the debut; altogether 5 singles were released (out of 11 songs on the original). Our Song is one of my personal favorites. She did a 6 month radio tour going to almost every major regional station playing country music in the US (her, her Mom, rental cars, her homework for the 11th Grade, boxes of homemade cookies), after which she opened for some of the biggest names in country: Garth Brooks, Rascal Flats. The effort paid off; her debut went from 38K copies sold in the first week, to being platinum in a year, and 7 time platinum by the time Reputation was released in 2017, 11 years later. For a country storytelling song --- look at Mary's Song(La La La).
Yeeees! This comment! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I also recommend her classics: Tim McGraw, Our Song, Tear Drops On My Guitar! But Izzy, keep in my that most of the songs in her debut album she wrote when she was a teenager, before she was 17. So, her lyrics were really good, but you can't expect the same level of maturity that 2024 Taylor has. She wasn't talking about Her Champaign Problems. Back then she couldn't even drink! 😂
@@KetlinCarramanhos actually, that's one reason Taylor relegates herself to the children's table in I'll Bet You Think About Me video: she was only 20 when she dated Gyllenhaal, so when he went to a Mumford and Sons concert and skipped her birthday party . . . . . . she "always gets the last word"
Tim Mcgraw first single. I believe she was 16. I would love for you to listen to Carolina. She wrote that song for the movie Where the Crawdads Sing. the movie took place in my state North Carolina back in the 50's. Taylor even did research on the type of instruments that was popular at that time and location when she wrote the song. Its very good and eerie. You should watch the movie too.

I second the suggestion for Carolina. It’s incredible. She loved the book so much that when she heard the movie was being made, she was inspired to write and record it. She just called up the producers and asked if they were interested. Of course they were.
Hello! Since you seem to enjoy the “stripped back” performances, I think you might like her performance of “Wildest Dreams” at the Grammy Museum. It’s a small venue performance, just Taylor and her electric guitar. It also has some lovely vocals.

Her SNL performances of Lover and False God and her Bluebird Cafe performance of Better Man are also quite good. 😊
Tim McGraw is her first single. Interesting, I was living in Nashville when she was a freshman in high school and the local television station interviewed her in her math class talking about writing songs in class. At that point she was working on getting known. I remember watching that interview. It was around 2005-2007
Her first single was Tim McGraw! I highly recommend it as a reference point for her early songwriting! Her first album came out when she was about 16 & the songs on it were written thereabouts & throughout her early teens.
I assure you that the crowd does not quiet down to listen! I’m so happy this is available to see on Disney+ where they’ve edited out the crowd. It made me really emotional to see it for real after being there one of these filming nights and it was just fans all around singing as loud as humanly possible. There was an ovation after this song for like 5 minutes. Something magical happens when Taylor is on a stage with just an instrument. It’s what makes her a star. My favorite performances are actually not from the Eras. There is a show called Lover in Paris Live that’s one of her very best. The songs, Cornelia Street and Death By a Thousand Cuts, show off her storytelling and that magic the best. Also for something from younger, more country Taylor is a song called Dear John or a cover song she did called Drops of Jupiter from her Speak Now Live tour. She was only about 20 and you can see she had the IT thing from the beginning.
This song always gets me right in the heart! I appreciated you pointing out where you felt the influence from the Beatles. I never understood their appeal until the movie Across the Universe came out. Now I see how amazing and influential they are.
At the Eras tour, she always play 2 acoustic songs: 1 with a guitar and the other just with the piano (she's always changing the songs). She has a lot of production at the tour but in those acoustic moments you can tell why she's so famous
Oh, Taylor was an immediate success during her country music era. Fearless (2008), her sophomore album, is the most awarded country music of all time. She was only 18 years old then, making her the youngest winner of the Grammys Album of The Year for the same album.
I love the idea of you getting to know her first successes, but oh boy! Be prepared! When Taylor started in country music she wasn't doing a mix of pop and country, she was doing country COUNTRY music. She had a complete different accent, different voice, she was playing the banjo, she wore cowboy boots... she was all in! And I loved that, and that was what made her a country superstar really fast. But I can understand how people, who are getting to know her now in 2024, might feel weird when they go back to her early stuff. It might be hard to recognize her early songs as hers, because they sound like they aren't from the same artist. Another sugestion: An early example of her great story telling is the song Fifteen, from Speak Now, she wrote about her and her best friend Abigail's freshman year at school. Really good song about friendship and being a teenage girl. And Taylor and Abigail are still friends.
Her Grammy Museum performance is amazing. I also recommend tolerate it, Marjorie, willow, long live, enchanted, Last Great American Dynasty and my tears Ricochet from the Eras tour.
If you'd be up for it, I'd love to see your reaction to the Eras Tour era by era. It's a great way to see a glimpse of what each era of Taylor's music is like. And if no one has suggested it yet, she did an NPR Tiny Desk session which I think you'd like cause it's literally just her and her guitar in an intimate concert setting. A great contrast to these massive stadium shows.
I'd love to react to it all, but I don't have the time right now. So, I'll continue diving in to stuff at random. Definitely want to do something from the Tiny Desk session though. Hopefully will get to that in the next few weeks. Thanks, Tiffany!
great reaction as always🥰 if you like songs like this. she performs every night on the tour between 2 to 5 song on the guitar and the piano and it's the surprise setting . every night she performs a mashup of different songs from her catalog so if you like this kind of performances then you have a hundred and something videos from the tour.
Taylor’s live performance of Should’ve Said No at the ACM awards is a fun earlier performance. And her videos of Tears on my Guitar, Tim McGraw, and Our Song are great from when she was about 16-probably lots of live performances of those, some better than others.
At the Eras Tour she has an acoustic set. One song with guitar and the next one with the piano. At every concert the songs are different. I saw you listened to “how did it end”. You should check out the acoustic live version on the Eras Tour. I think it’s her best performance ever.
I’m excited to see you react to her live performances on the Eras tour or Reutation tour of her song from the Reputation Era. I feel like this is a side of Taylor you have not yet seen yet in your reactions. It shows a whole new side to her amazing stage performances!
Taylor literally has a Shakespearean quality about her when she’s writing a lot of her music. I really don’t understand how anyone could listen to Folklore and Evermore and say that she’s not a masterful songwriter?! Like, people walk around trashing her, trashing her fans, spewing nothing but hate at the thought of her… but her talent speaks for itself. Those of us who love her and her artistry just GET IT and that’s why we’re so passionate and loyal. But I don’t think some people want to get it. They’re just fine with being ignorant and hateful. It’s sad.
I think that is part of it. But also different artist speak to different people, so not everyone is gonna get it. Anyway, I've just checked out your channel and watched your Used To Be Young reaction. It seems a while since you've reacted to anything, but I think you should get back to it if you can. I'd recommend reacting to Hi Ren by Ren. It was suggested to me and helped get my channel going. He has a beautiful fan base and you'll get a good amount of subscribers and viewers from reacting to it and his stuff. Be well, my friend!
She did proper country. 2 of my favourites from her debut are Our Song and Tear Drops on my Guitar and I've always had a soft spot for Mean from Speak Now. But 2 more recent (and 2 of my all time favourites) were done for sound tracks. Safe and Sound, for the Hunger Games and Carolina for Where the Crawdads Sing. I'd read that she read the Crawdads book and was moved to write the song. When they made the film years later she offered them the song. Both are simple and achingly beautiful.
If you’re interested in country Taylor, I would recommend checking out the Speak Now tour. She’s a bit more polished than her earliest days but her twang is still evident. It’s a great show!
that's the beauty of singer/songwriters and folk music: a voice, a song, a melody. Talk about courage! There is no extraneous music, lights, flashes, flying. Nothing but raw talent; we lost that for a while, but I think it is coming back thanks to younger folks like you (I'm 70). And, yes, isn't wonderful that the crowd doesn't try to out-loud the performer? Check out 2 of the very best: Gordon Lightfoot and Dan Fogelberg. Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell need to be in your catalogue with their old folk songs and then own writing. Another favorite of mine is Canadian Ian Tyson, solo and when he was singing with his wife as Ian & Sylvia.
Mary's Song (My My My) is a delightful storytelling song from her first album. It's not a single, but it's a great example of a country music story in song.
The 1st year of The Era’s Tour Taylor played acoustic full songs on both guitar & piano at each show. Now she sings “mash ups of songs” in these acoustic sets - linked by theme, music or even contain an “Easter Egg” for the Swifties linking timeframes, topics, melodies & music together that we didn’t expect! Taylor chooses, composes these mash ups while touring - this woman never rests! 😅
I think my favorite live eras songs are this one. Also some of the other songs from evermore. Willow is so cool to watch also tollerste if... my tears ricochet is awesome from this concert. Mastermind from midnight.... lavender haze and I love the ending song and the whole karma performance. All the reputation songs are great also
Taylor acoustic performances are the best. Recomendations: Better man (The bluebird Café) Cornelia Street live from Paris and Out of the Woods grammy museum performance.
Tim McGraw was her first single, but Our Song is the one that really blew up (on my college campus, at least) that made her a household name. Maybe that wasn't everybody's experience with her, but it was for me.
She's incredible, she's a multi instrumentalist.I always say you can tell how good an artist is when they do an acoustic set. Also she would've been on stage nearly 2 hours by the time we get to the acoustic set. I'm glad you picked up on the colours,Taylor designs everything it's all her vision. .l LOVE this song....never have l related to a lyric more and l scream it every time "she would've made such a lovely bride..what a shame she's fucked in the head"....yeah l binned a wedding with weeks to go 😂 Don't mention not going to the tour l was heartbroken ,I'm in a wheelchair and the disabled ticketing was a disaster so l never got to go 😢
For some early songs: From Taylor Swift (debut album) 2006| Tim McGraw Our Song From Fearless 2008: Fearless There’s also Love Story and You Belong with Me but you’ll almost certainly know those two From Speak Now 2010 (written solely by Taylor, no other writers on the entire album): Dear John (about John Mayer, big age gap, then Would’ve Should’ve Could’ve from Midnights is a more mature/reflective song about that period of her life) Enchanted (which she wrote for her band/fans…. That’s quite fun to listen to now because she obviously thought where she was would be the peak of her career…) Hope that helps! The music is definitely not the quality of her current music, but pretty great when you keep in mind her age and experience then, it’s so nice to see where she came from because a lot of that country influence carries through into her other genres. I think part of her appeal is her ability to tell a proper story in a pop song (I’m not a pop girly at all, unless it’s TS)
I would love for you to watch her documentary Miss Americana. It tells her story of how she started. She was very young, grew up in Pennsylvania then she and her parents moved to Nashville so she can pursue her music career.
I do want to watch it, but I don’t want to spoil the songs I haven’t reacted to yet. But maybe when I’ve reacted to a lot more of her catalogue I will do it.
Highly recommend checking out her performance of Cornelia Street Live From Paris. It’s availability in hq on TH-cam. It’s her best live vocal performance in my opinion and the song is a great example of her story telling. Just her and a single instrument is when she shines best. Also highly recommend her song Ivy just the studio version. It’s one of her more folksy songs and most poetic lyrics.
This is the only video from the concert I did the entire song of, and I did her talking into she does too. All other songs were just clips, if I did it at all, I tried being in person enjoying it at much as possible, but this is my favorite song of hers(well before TTPD existed 😂) and I knew I’d want the entire video to watch over and over.
Yes to “Tim McGraw”. Id also recommend “Timeless”, it’s a vault track from her album re-record “Speak Now Taylor’s Version”. Speak Now is her 2nd album but this song, “Timeless” is a vault track so will have her vocals from now. Amazing story telling in this one. On all her re-recorded albums so far she has given us tracks that were written in that era, but were never released/ didn’t make the album. Can’t believe “Timeless” didn’t make the album ❤
I know there’s been many recommendations/suggestions thrown at you BUT, for what it’s worth and based on your past reactions, I think you would thoroughly enjoy and appreciate the live versions (from Paris) of Cornelia Street and Death By A Thousand Cuts. Both are stunning acoustic performances. As for her early (country) discography , Tim McGraw, Teardrops On My Guitar and Love Story catapulted Taylor into the limelight and although she was a “work in progress” long before she entered her teens, those songs were catalytic in transforming her into a household name. The evolution of Taylor (from lyrics to vocal ability) is very apparent when listening to her early music- however, it is also apparent that her passion, ambition and work ethic were not byproducts of her evolution but rather omnipresent.
I really really think you should check out Haunted from her 3rd album which was more rock/punk influenced. As for country classics: Tim Mcgraw, Our Song, Fearless, Teardrops on My Guitar, Love Story, White Horse, You Belong With Me.
If you love her live versions more like me Cornelia street and death by a thousand cuts live in Paris(lovers concert) are her best or maroon from the eras. Will give you goosebumps
This is a weird thing to point out, but I find it a really positive thing that Taylor generally has to look at her fingers when playing piano/guitar. It's because she's not a super master of the instruments, otherwise she'd be able to do it without looking--and obviously singing at the same time is also hard. But I've heard people say it makes her feel more relatable that she has some of the same 'normal' habits as people who aren't full masters of an instrument, and it kinda humanizes her in a way.
"Taylor Swift" (Debut Album) Tim Mcgraw - 1st single Our Song - the most popular now It stayed for more than 280 on the US charts, but it wasn't as huge of a start as Lady Gaga's "The Fame" or Olivia Rodigo's "Sour" "Fearless" (2nd album) - at the time made her the youngest winner of the Grammy for Album of the year Love Story & You Belong With Me were probably what made her known worldwide The album itself is approaching 30 million equivalent units, and both it and the re-recorded version stayed a combined 420 weeks on the US charts Side note, regarding the eras tour You're on Your Own Kid - for more of her and the piano Vigilante Shit - for something completely different
The audience is extremely loud singing every word, but they turn the audience volume down (edited it out) during the Eras Tour film so you can hear her even better.
Can you react to loml from TTPD😊. I love all her music but love story, you belong with me and our song are some of my favorites from her earlier days. 😊
Tryy Tim McGraw, Big Red Truck and I'll think of more later. She starteed real young singing at the fair and backup vocals at the country vocàls and the bars. Slowly.
One day you should check out some of the "'making of" stuff. The only issue is, a lot of these are for songs I don't think you've heard yet (mostly from the 'reputation' album), so maybe just bookmark for later: th-cam.com/play/PLi5G_SSJ4A9HuAPICzc7615j0itlzDbJm.html&si=vxUoIBlDHq2C4uFe I just find it fascinating to watch the magic happen!
What up Izzy! It's good to hear that you are interested in her early days back when she was just starting out. She wasn't an instant success. No. It was gradual. But she was garnering lots of attention because she was a young, beautiful 16 year old girl who knew how to play the guitar and had a great voice whose lyrics told stories. And I'm being honest here because I wasn't into country at the time she released her first self-titled album on October 24, 2006. Her first few singles were: "Tim McGraw", "Teardrops On My Guitar", "Our Song" and "A Picture To Burn". Which you have to watch the music videos because that's how it grabbed the public's attention at the time.
I was waiting for your next TS reaction! Taylor's first album is named "Taylor Swift". Her first single was "Tim McGraw" and I think it's a really good song if you wanna check out. I really can't wait for Taylor Swift (Taylor's version), she made an acoustic piano performance of the song the first night of The Eras Tour as a surprise song (here's the link if you wanna check out after listening the studio version: th-cam.com/video/6nzfuyRYcV0/w-d-xo.html ). Before turning into a swiftie I didn't understand the success of Taylor. In 2015, I listened to 1989 which was her last album at the time and completly loved the project. Then, I decided to check out what Taylor sounds like on a live performance so I watched the Out Of The Woods grammy museum performance (which was an acoustic piano version of the song) and that's the moment when I understood Taylor' success in the music industry (I also recommend you this performance: th-cam.com/video/K-n9-FVTq6w/w-d-xo.html ). I always love when she makes acoustic performances, especially for her pop songs. She has made almost every songs she wrote on the surprise songs set of The Eras Tour. There is a really beautiful song on her latest albulm TTPD called "How Did It End?" and she performed it during this set and it's really beautiful. It's only Taylor and her piano: th-cam.com/video/Gd8oWddNE8k/w-d-xo.html . She made a piano performance of Maroon, a pop song, on the Eras Tour which was recorded. (Here's the studio version: th-cam.com/video/lvHZjvIyqsk/w-d-xo.html , and the acoustic performance: th-cam.com/video/V0IZvqwaYII/w-d-xo.html ). Sorry it's a long comment lol but I hope it will help you. I can't wait for the next video!
Thanks for the links, Ivy! Next Taylor reaction will be Monday. Hopefully over the next few weeks I can find the time to record more and do 2 Taylor reactions a week.

I just subscribed, mate! I'll be watching.
White Horse won best country song at the Grammys. That is a beautiful song. I also recommend Back to December
Thanks, Samantha!
OMG!!! I've been waiting so long for this react!!!Thanks for reacting to this, it's one of Taylor's best songs in my opinion. ❤❤❤
Thanks for watching, Liza! It was my pleasure!
Oooo white horse was one of my favorites tea drops on my guitar those were 2 big ones
Tim McGraw was her first single! She was 16
You should see the other songs on the ERAS tour where she is playing her guitar and singing alone too!🥰
If you’re interested in country Taylor, I would recommend checking out the Speak Now tour.
Love this song She has her own band, backup singers and dancers group.
'Cold as you ' would be interesting for us to see you watch . She wrote it so young too
Mary's Song (My My My) is a delightful storytelling song from her first album.
Recomendations:
Better man (The bluebird Café)
Cornelia Street live from Paris and Out of the Woods grammy museum performance.
two immediate eras tour performances that I think you would love the way they are done are Tolerate It and My Tears Ricochet.
I've got a few lined up, but I am looking forward to getting to the My Tears Ricochet performance! Thanks, Lynn!
@@IzzyIzenstainawesome! definitely add tolerate it if is not already on your list. it’s one of the best
It’s a tiny bit of the magic that is Taylor Swift ✨ I appreciate your review. It’s very thoughtful & you get the details 🫶
Thanks, Becca!
another great reaction
Thanks, Bryan!
Tim McGraw was her first single, but Our Song is the one that really blew up (on my college campus, at least) that made her a household name. Maybe that wasn't everybody's experience with her, but it was for me.
I'll check those out soon! Thanks!
Picture to Burn and Mean are great early songs with fun clips
She's incredible, she's a multi instrumentalist.I always say you can tell how good an artist is when they do an acoustic set.
Also she would've been on stage nearly 2 hours by the time we get to the acoustic set.
I'm glad you picked up on the colours,Taylor designs everything it's all her vision.
.l LOVE this song....never have l related to a lyric more and l scream it every time "she would've made such a lovely bride..what a shame she's fucked in the head"....yeah l binned a wedding with weeks to go 😂
Don't mention not going to the tour l was heartbroken ,I'm in a wheelchair and the disabled ticketing was a disaster so l never got to go 😢
Here's hoping one day you can make it to a show, Liza!
For some early songs:
From Taylor Swift (debut album) 2006|
Tim McGraw
Our Song
From Fearless 2008:
Fearless
There’s also Love Story and You Belong with Me but you’ll almost certainly know those two
From Speak Now 2010 (written solely by Taylor, no other writers on the entire album):
Dear John (about John Mayer, big age gap, then Would’ve Should’ve Could’ve from Midnights is a more mature/reflective song about that period of her life)
Enchanted (which she wrote for her band/fans…. That’s quite fun to listen to now because she obviously thought where she was would be the peak of her career…)
Hope that helps!
Long Live is the one she wrote for her band/fans!
I do highly recommend that one!
Thanks, Lauren! It does help!
1989 Grammy’s museum acoustic performances are pretty special as well
its piano from Evermore, this song is never played live but a favorite
The first song I heard by her was “Another Picture to Burn”
Evermore and Folklore eras at The Eras Tour are my favourites
I would love for you to watch her documentary Miss Americana. It tells her story of how she started. She was very young, grew up in Pennsylvania then she and her parents moved to Nashville so she can pursue her music career.
I do want to watch it, but I don’t want to spoil the songs I haven’t reacted to yet. But maybe when I’ve reacted to a lot more of her catalogue I will do it.
I am a Swiftie but firstly I am what I call First Generation Beatle. Love your reactions. Spot on.
Thanks!
Hoping to get to Cornelia Street soon! Sounds intriguing.
Understandable!
Check out the Long Pond sessions….some beautiful acoustics
She became a massive star from the very beginning! Debut Album: "Tim McGraw"
Request for reaction to her earlier hits being: Fearless, You Belong With Me, Love Story … all performed at The Eras Tour. Love from Australia 🇦🇺
She has regular backup singers on tour.
Paul went to this concert ❤

Thanks, Maureen!
Si Paul McCartney attended the Eras Tour in London, as did Prince awilliam and his children 😊
I really really think you should check out Haunted from her 3rd album which was more rock/punk influenced. As for country classics: Tim Mcgraw, Our Song, Fearless, Teardrops on My Guitar, Love Story, White Horse, You Belong With Me.
Oh oh! And Should've Said No. That one is so good. It's honestly my #1 recommendation from her debut album.
If you love her live versions more like me Cornelia street and death by a thousand cuts live in Paris(lovers concert) are her best or maroon from the eras. Will give you goosebumps
I did the whole Paris show on Patreon. I will cut out a song or 2 for TH-cam when I can.
Thanks!
Tim McGraw was her first single, classic country songwriting.
Looking forward to checking that out, Rose!
"Taylor Swift" (Debut Album)
Tim Mcgraw - 1st single
Our Song - the most popular now
It stayed for more than 280 on the US charts, but it wasn't as huge of a start as Lady Gaga's "The Fame" or Olivia Rodigo's "Sour"
"Fearless" (2nd album) - at the time made her the youngest winner of the Grammy for Album of the year
Love Story & You Belong With Me were probably what made her known worldwide
The album itself is approaching 30 million equivalent units, and both it and the re-recorded version stayed a combined 420 weeks on the US charts
Side note, regarding the eras tour
You're on Your Own Kid - for more of her and the piano
Vigilante Shit - for something completely different
Thanks! You're On Your Own Kid coming soon!
Her first single ever was called Tim McGraw.
The audience is extremely loud singing every word, but they turn the audience volume down (edited it out) during the Eras Tour film so you can hear her even better.
Makes sense!
My first video of this creators, but is his microphone always turned up so much that the sound of him swallowing hits the mic that loudly? 🥺
I think it’s to do with my mic placement. I’m working on improving it. I don’t think it’s always like that.
Never cared for the Beatles …. But love Taylor😉
❤❤❤
Acustic set is the best part in the Eras Tour
Oh I'm telling you. Do tollerate it the studio version then the live from the eras tour
Can you react to loml from TTPD😊. I love all her music but love story, you belong with me and our song are some of my favorites from her earlier days. 😊
I'm gonna do that one soon!
Tryy Tim McGraw, Big Red Truck and I'll think of more later. She starteed real young singing at the fair and backup vocals at the country vocàls and the bars. Slowly.
Looking forward to checking those out, Terry! Thanks!
React to Tolarate It by Taylor! Would recommend to first listen to the lyrics video and then to the live version from Eras tour:)
Gonna do it soon!
Please do Mary’s song! ❤ off debut
I've made a note of it. I'll see what I can do.
Please react to ( peter) next
It’s coming on Saturday!
Thanks, Dirkus! I'll do that!
Thanks, Yvette! I'll check those out.
@@IzzyIzenstain Yes take your time, one reaction per week is already awesome lol
