Tony asks if she had any family, which shows that he truly believes she's gone for good, because you wouldn't contact her family to inform them of her passing if you believed there was a chance to fix it. Cap responds that they were her family, showing that he's in pretty much the same place as Tony.

The stones was used by Odin, Zeus, the ancient one and the Phoenix. To protect the sacred time line. To protect their realms from threats like Kang, dormammu, etc etc. Threats to entire dimensions like eternity and infinity. It's part of the cosmic balance. Just like galactus his appetite for planets and their life force. He who remains used his twisted mind. To do what the stones were doing before Thanos destroyed them.
Of course, after they beat Thanos, nothing is stopping them from time-traveling back to Vormir and trading their Soul Stone to that Clint for Nat and bring her back that way.

I know right Black Widow, Loki and Gamora deserves a better storylines in these movies. I would rather have Gamora being trapped in the Soul stone and they release her once they have all the stones and Black Widow using all of her skills to get the Soul Stone in some cave/treasure room then what we got. Then later we get to see them both team up during the final battle. Same goes with Loki, I would rather have Infinity War be where he was forced to go with Thanos and be on his side, then having us question who’s side he’s on (like how Snape was for Harry Potter) and then later in the post credit scene he appears ready to help. Then Endgame we get to see him help out on getting the Infinity Stones, thus allowing him to team up with the Avengers, earning their trust, bonding with Thor and becoming a hero in his own right and we get a completed story arc. Along with Captain Marvel having a role to play than just appearing in the beginning and the end and be done. Maybe even have Yelena appear in some capacity to add more of an emotional impact for Black Widow. Here’s what I would rather have as an Avengers roster in my version of Endgame Iron man Captain America Hulk Black Widow Captain Marvel Thor Loki Hawkeye Ant man War Machine Rocket Nebula Gamora (after freeing her from the soul stone) Shuri (setting up her role in Wakanda Forever (whether it’s the original storyline they were planning to do or what we got in the end) and giving her the character development she needs) (I would add Falcon or Bucky and Wasp, but the list is already packed)
