If MP44 isn't the overall best, Takara should close up shop. There's absolutely zero excuses for charging that kind of money and not delivering absolute perfection. Transform Element has already delivered the perfect Prime for me, especially after getting that awesome replacement head, at a fraction of the cost. Regardless, I think I've had my fill of Optimus Prime releases.
"If MP44 isn't the overall best, Takara should close up shop." Then they should close up shop because it's already apparent from the photos there are elements of it that are going to be significant inferior to the existing options, like all the seams and gaps instead of smooth cohesive surfaces.
I don't fully agree but I do think takara should just stop with G1. they are not the best of the best we have fans toys for that and even make toys and ocular Max, and xtransbots just to name a few. I think takara only wanted to make the first bay movie characters at the very most really they should continue on with beast Wars because nobody's doing that and there's not a single bad beast Wars figure.
Still happy with my MP10 despite its aging mould. Slight of character topic but have you had hands on the FT10X. Would be interesting to hear your thoughts on that as I know you said the original lacked in paint, but the metallic on the leg really popped, and would look great on the backpack
Thanks for the info about how the paint affects the tolerances and for being detailed about where the paint is and how different it is from the original.
I was just sent the metallic X version of this sent to me by accident. It is pretty nice. It has a deep candy apple red. It almost matches my Year of the Horse MP 10's red, but is petty much fully painted. Never messed with it before, but have been having fun. This newest re-release comes with no accessories, except Prime's gun.
Great articulate video. I'm looking at this exact model on the net. The red IS noticeably metallic as the blue paint! I don't understand why this item is considered 'metallic'
I think they all look great but I pre-ordered MP-44. Yep.. I did it. Hear me out, if you go back to Skullface MP Sunstreaker review he said he was not going to get it to replace his current one. I got the MP Sunstreaker myself and I commented on that videa with how happy I was. I still am... That Sunstreaker just pops off the shelf. Later on if you notice Skullface sneakily ended up with that MP Sunstreaker. He explained someone just gave it to him. And if you look at his shelves that Sunstreaker is in the center of one his... because it POPS! It is flipping good. I have been a Toyworld Primorion fan but I have to get this Takara MP Prime V 3.0 because I just know he is going to pop on the shelf. The same for Hound and the new Bumble Bee. I will be getting those too. I came to the game late and I find it beyond annoying how you can not find some Fans Toys figures. I would have gotten Willis a while back but it was no where to be found at a decent price. Anywho..... Rambling is over. Glad to see more reviews, at least this week. To recap .. MS Prime (all colors) look great but I am in for the MP 3.0 Takara Prime and yep, I will be a lot more poor but I will be a lot happier. That shelf is going to POP! Maybe I will recreate the "Megatron must be stopped." scene when Hound is released.
For my 2 cents, I think the striking blue with the more muted red draws your gaze to the head (so to speak) which looks fantastic to me so I'd see the color scheme does what it's supposed to do. While alt-mode is less eye-catching, I think that Transistor red would be too much. Know when to say when. Sometimes more is less. Apples to apples, at the end of the day it is what it is.
Fully agree. The red was where I most wanted the metallic. I don't like X repaints; I do like Magic Square - so MS need to stop it quick-smart so that people can make good purchasing decisions. One for £100 is outstanding value; two for £200 is not. I plan to look at how easy disassembly is; paint the red on my non-X; if successful, swap the painted red onto my X and have a fully non-painted one either to mess with or to repaint as a Nemesis Prime. I fully expect to fall at the first hurdle - MS' stuff is built to withstand a nuclear war - ordinarily a good thing but disassembly is not always easy! ;-)
Some die cast goodies and more pop in the red paint.. plz do that for the 4th version MS! You would have the perfect prime! I have the 1st version MS.. still a solid 8.7.. MP44 looks like a 8.1
100% agreed - if they'd left the gray on the thighs/waist? Maybe I go in on this one, not having bought one of the new Primes yet. It's too much shiny for my tastes on a Prime. I'd still stick with the TE or the original MS version personally. Or the MP44 of course.
I was pretty disappointed with this tbh, I passed on the 1st and picked up the TE one instead, and much prefer that even though Im not into the super toon aesthetic. Its not a bad figure by any means, the red seems too subdued as you say and the hands should have been metallic fleck if they couldn't paint. The lack of interaction with mp10 trailer is also a big missed opportunity. If you want an updated mp10 this is probably it, it has the same beefyness but is cleaner overall, but it feels a little low effort in regards to the paint, apart from the blue which is very nice.
May I ask, why do you so firmly believe the MP 44 will be the best? I get that the sculpt looks great and all... but is it really that much better than this or the TF element prime(especially with the new head which may aswell be the MP 44 head)? Like I love the way takaras one looks head on... but that backpack is quite the eyesore for me. Just interested in hearing your thoughts cus I ALWAYS hear you affirm that the Takara will be the best, may be worth a sit down Saturday :)
Daniel Torres I think it’s best in terms of “cartoon accuracy” but I could care less about the extreme toon accuracy. If it captures the essence of the character (MP10) I’m satisfied 🤷🏾♂️
@@jordanharrington1890 well yeah but if we are going for cartoon accuracy then id say the TF element is just as accurate, like i said , ESPECIALLY with that new head they released with him. And he doesnt have as much of a backpack and pannel lining soo not really sure about it being about toon accuracy
The backpack on mp-44 is pretty big but at least it's kept compact in a neat way. Could've easily been a mess of kibble. Where Mp-44 really stands out is just the design looks better. TE i found the blue on his crotch to be too wide and the blue part of his legs too thin, the lack of any ab crunch also kinda turned me away. Mp-44 the blue crotch is significantly shrunken down and the legs are bulkier, on top of the ab crunch, it just feels like you can get more out of Mp-44 than TE. Which is a good trade in for a thick backpack imo.
This Metallic version is exactly what this figure needed to make it better. Good job but I'm still going to pass on it b/c of the thick back section of the truck which doesn't connect to any trailer. TE OP is nicer in truck mode but its robot mode ab area is just too short and makes it look bad compare to MS version. I got my MP10 a couple years ago, so I'm going to wait to see if there is a 4th party version that comes out after MP-44. The MP-44 appears to have too much line work / looks like too many panels in truck mode which is how I'll be displaying him since that's where I see the main difference in Prime ver 3. At mp-44 price its an easy pass.
What annoys me about this vid is that you don't show his back. Why does he have silver/metallic grey components attached to the back of his arms and shoulders?
Dirty paint applications, lack of paint on random parts like the knees, head crest, forearm chevrons. Some poor color choices like dark gray chest stripe instead of silver, the red is still not correct, the translucent bits are still not painted. Meh.
Please can we just fast forward to Mp-44 my goodness.. nice piece especially if your on a strict budget.. I'd rather just save my Penny's n get Mp -44 🤷♂️🤦🏼♂️

While I don’t agree with Takara price but they got the red right and is something very simple for any 3p to do and yet has not.
Shout out to Shaun Love, he took my Magic Square Prime and toon cell shaded the clear chest windows. It took that figure from an 8 to a 12......
Metallic paint looks great on this guy

METALLIC !!!! Theres no way thats going to match with the stuff I bought 10 years ago,

I like this updated version better. good lookin on the CUSTOM REPAINT IDEA OPTION BOBBY..
Get Shaun Love on your show! he is blowing up all over the groups! Very talented great dude!!!
id like to see a Metallic TE-01

Wow. I didn't even notice that the red is metallic. Looks like the original version.
Id buy a cell shaded one.

If I were going to pay to customize a Prime, it would be TE-01. I have the Magic Square as well, but it just isn't as good.
Might want more videos like this

Speck-tacular. Nice pun.
I love the metallic paint, however, I would love to see that red as a deep metallic as well. Great vid!
The metallic is tastefully done. Unlike chrome.

This kinda reminds me of the Ft Jetfire. Not painted enough. Mp10 still stays.
I wish the red popped instead of the blue
Hi Bobby can you provide a little more detail on who Luke is or what fb group he is in please
Many thanks
Easy on the edits there Scorsese! You'll have to start putting up a seizure warning at the beginning. Good review.
Now give me one made with some die cast parts and then I’ll be on board.
lol. cutting it close aint ya? It is pretty though.
The red is still wrong and I don’t give a damn if anyone disagree. Fix it I definitely consider it. Same goes for TE
Transform Element is the shizz . . . . Oops wait. . .wrong channel. . .
Soo... is Mr. Metallic Blue Boots replacing the original MS-01 on your shelf?

How come the MS Prime already looks outdated to me? 🤔
