Paper coned speakers have been produced for 100 years. They produce warm, accurate high and mid range. The speakers you took out were over 20 years old and looked fantastic still. I wouldn’t say the morel looks more durable. Anything that can last in a car door for 20 years is by very definition pretty durable.
They did ok considering that I was beyond the limits of what Morel made them for. They’re good component speakers for the price but I later upgraded them to JL c5-525cw-rp. They’re more expensive, but reproduce the lower frequencies better since they are actual rated woofers, which is what I was looking for. All in all, both the Morel and the JL that followed are way better than the factory speakers. I hope this helps.
