Thanks again for taking me on your tramp guys. Back on the Thousand Acre and all from the comfort of my sofa. I once sat at the edge of Larrikins stream with the rain thrashing down and Larikin was belting out into midair and the waterfalls all around that horseshoe canyon were enthralling. Being out in crap weather can be really amazing.

    Hi Abel and Victoria,
Great video. I liked how you took a nice swim on top of the mountain. The water looked so refreshing and clean!

I've no evidence that wombats can't write, but have filmed dinosaurs can learn new habits and respond to human goodheartedness. Great video. I can't wait to teach Kea quantum mathematics, after teaching a wild 1.5m dinosaur business management 😂😂 on video 2 weeks ago. I've taught wild Kea games (top of the Arahura) in less than 10 mins. Can't wait to see the NZ tracks again. 💕💕 Love your videos

The Kahurangi wilderness is a very special area. Thankfully very few people venture in. I completed an 18 day circuit in January Cobb to Cobb went in on the second cyclone then perfect weather the whole way. Just delightful . Not an easy area to walk! You'll have fun and one he'll of an adventure.

I thought I would offer a little insight into the challenges of wilderness off track which hopefully will be of use to you for planning your new adventures. I am very traditional in my approach to off track tramping which I am aware maybe outdated. Also I have no idea what off track experience you have so I've gone back to basics, please don't be offended. Rivers is your number one challenge! Be confident to cross deep, wide, fast flowing rivers. Even practice pack floating. Good navigation skills gives you peace of mind. Phones and GPS are not reliable enough for the potentially relentless wet environment. Pick equipment that is totally reliable and very durable and can be repaired or serviced. Condition your body to heavy load carrying typically 30kg + . Pack food that delivers good kj for weight, using dehy, protein bars, nuts etc. Individually pack each days food to rations. You may lose one days food to water ingress or animals but unlikely to lose all if rationed. Plan low km for each day. A 4km walk may take 8hrs! Also why rush through such a beautiful area, take time to absorb and relax.

Great trip with great weather. I would have liked to see more of the dracophyllum forest as you approach Larrikans. And now you have second access via the old ghost road. I do not think anyone has done that yet.

Dragons teeth was the best I have seen of that route a combination of the excellent video and dynamics in the group made for thoroughly enjoyable entertainment. The table lands solo you put up few days ago I enjoyed because it took me there. You guys clearly have a talent for this, there are a lot of average TH-cam videos out there but if you have a passion and talent you stand out from the rest. Look forward to the next one.

Another great trip with video. Love the plateaux area. Stunning views from the Needle ! Thanks for sharing.
Surprised to see a solid bridge over the west branch of the Matiri with a huge 4x4 track. Do you know what the purpose of that road is for ? Also what camera do you use ? The cliff face behind Larrikin hut is amazingly transformed into mutiple waterfalls when there's heavy rain.

Yeah I want to get back up there soon for another look around. There is a hydroelectricity facility up there.
On our earlier vid we used iPhone. This vid was all done on our phone. Then we got a GoPro which I think we first used on the dragons teeth trip. Now I have a Sony a7c camera

@@AbelandVictoria i have not lived in the Nelson area for over 16 yrs now so am unaware of recent developments. So a hydro power stn is there in the Matiri now. I hope they did not wreck the outlet channels off the lake. They are worth exploring with huge rock slabs and cascades. Found some colonies of fresh water mussels just before one outlet channel. That whole area is spectacular in biodiversity & geological events. Enjoy your next adventure up there. Hope you get to set foot on Mt Misery, and admire the surrounding valleys & cliff scapes.
