Not my usual musical genre, but I got caught down this rabbit hole a while back, Melanie is so good, you can't help but see the talent, she's transcendent.
I discovered Melanie and her family about 3 years ago, thank you so much for your great reaction! My favorite vids by them are 'Jodel-Time', done when Melanie was about 20 yo, and shows why her style is called 'tongue yodeling'; and a duet with her mother of Willie Nelson's 'Blue Eyes crying in the Rain' (in English, no yodeling). Their voices blend so beautifully!
I’ve been hooked on them for the past month. Cheesy in presentation, but as you say, wholesome and extremely talented which puts the cheese way to the side.
Hi Beth, I'm so eager to watch this analysis. Oesch's die Dritten are really great and Mélanie is amazing : she can do everything with her voice. Their last songs are less in jodel style than this one but always so wonderful. Like you it's always make my heart lighter and give me a smile (very big one) when I listen them. If you listen the other songs of the band you will see that they can play music with everything from bass to cajon, spoon and even cheese grater. And Mélanie can have hoarse voice too (a little like in metal style) when needed. I watch the analysis this morning and thank you for the details you gave on the technical use in jodle and on the band. That's why your videos are so great. Take care.

But as the German speaking part of Switzerland is quite a limited, she cleverly extended it to Germany and Austria too (they all understand High German). With that, she as about 10 times more audience than Switzerland only. The family is widely known in those countries today.
I went down the Oesch Die Dritten and yodeling in general rabbit hole about ten years ago. I listened to different German, Dutch, Swiss, Scandinavian folk music almost every day for over a year. You should look up ewigi liäbi. There is a candid performance of it with Padi Bernhard and Melanie Oesch they perform it in a cozy pub. It always makes me smile.

No way, eh? Humans can't make sounds like that. She's an alien! Seriously, that is just totally amazing. It's always so cool when people take some stupid thing we can do and turn it up to 11. Michael Moschen's juggling. People who don't blink for minutes at a time. People are just so dang weird and cool that, even after decades of watching them, I still haven't seen a millionth of what we can do. Crazy-ass species, humans.
The first video of theirs I saw was "Da Da Muh". I don't really speak German, so I reached out to some native speakers, and they had no clue. Apparently it's some local dialect from deep in the mountains that differs significantly from hochdeutsch.

I was not at all expecting the Swiss German text. Most other creators would just have used standard German. Good job.
