    I wanted to mention to everyone. The temple he mentioned earlier in the guide where you can acquire the zammy bottom. If you stand on the outside of the temple and cast mage or range inside through the door it is a safe spot. Hf

      Yo Engin Ear! That’s a good tip man. I had no idea you got 3k for low alk and 5k for high on each of the parts 😅 I think I assumed since the finished mace was only 4k low 6k high the parts weren’t worth much! Not crazy money but if you are training on the golems it’s a nice bit of extra cash for a HCIM! Cheers man!

    Well for f2p iron you can use extra nature runes, gotten from ogress to train smithing,mining and magic at iron rocks in fally mines with super heat spell. Makes you need less rings of forging to train smithing. you can alc the iron plate you make if you want but i would just drop em. Magic is a 0 time skill so i rather not use runes to kill ogress and range them cause ranging them is cheaper.
    TLDR: i wont go all out to train magic at higher levels(after 55) you will passively get magic from training other skills.

    • @TheLumbridgeKnight
      @TheLumbridgeKnight  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yo Eclipse Arrow! Thanks for the comment man! Your Nat rune pointers are spot on and I totally agree aiming to straight up train magic to 99 is an expensive (and difficult) task.
      Super heat item combined with making iron is a nice trick to generate magic xp and save some rings of forging. I’d definitely recommend high alc’ing iron plate bodies or selling them in Varrock as this is a profitable money maker for ironmen👌 thanks again for the feedback and suggestions brother! 👍👍👍

    At 11:10 it's better to just go to the chaos temple since the monks can't walk outside and that way you don't have to telegrab. This is also better for irons who want to save all the law runes that they can early on. With the basic fire spell you can also kill the monk pretty quickly and it's only a 1/20 drop for the robe bottoms.

    Should've mentioned superheat & splashing in the extra section. Superheat is more for ironmen and splashing is for anyone who doesn't mind playing the long game with their xp. for ogresses, magic level is almost irrelevant as there's a safe spot and unlike other styles your max is dependant on the element, the magic bonus only determines the chance u wont splash, so its just a matter of how much time/gp you'd want to invest. You could go there with mind spells and be ok it'd just be longer kill times. Also iirc chaos spells are the way to go in f2p for best cost-damage. Keep in mind you can cast spells and alch without losing ticks if done properly. I commend you for wanting to make guides for a game packed with guides but I'd suggest to dig a little deeper into the methods, as theyve progressed over the years.

    • @TheLumbridgeKnight
      @TheLumbridgeKnight  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Molecule! Thanks for the comment and feedback man! Yeah magic definitely has a lot more complexity than at first glance, even in F2P. In my defence, I tried to make this particular guide quite general, like a bit of an all rounder. Primarily looking at the fastest xp gains with some alts/variations on cost and ironman tips. It was 100% probably the most difficult guide to nail down so far in terms of the overall strategy and direction. Every time I decided what the next step was, there would be 2-3 alternatives each with their own merits... 🤷‍♂️😅 In the end I just went with the idea of the most efficient xp for reasonable cost as I didn't want the video to be too long. So like with the Ogresses I recommend them at such a high level as you will splash less, so gain more experience per cast, less casting, less cost... 🤔
      I see your points though, and I feel much the same, the second I posted the video I felt like to truly cover Magic in full I'd need possible another 1-2 videos covering Low Cost Magic Training and AFK Magic Training. I dunno still thinking about it... What do you recon? Anyway thanks again bro 👍👍👍 Stay Safe!

  • @Lord_Runes
    @Lord_Runes 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    sure, training defence with melee is great although I kinda agree with Autumn Elegy who said in one of his f2p videos of Terrathrone that training magic on the Defensive attack style is worth over offensive and doesnt even compare to ranged defensive attack style as its attack rate is still the same vs range is obviously much slower. Unless you're 99 def, the defensive attack style = more total xp/hr was pretty much my conclusion. Tho i love the vids and gave this video a like :)

    • @TheLumbridgeKnight
      @TheLumbridgeKnight  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yo Nate! Thanks for the comment bro! Yeah that's a fair point, you will gain .33 more total xp per point of magic damage dealt using defensive casting versus normal casting. Standard Casting XP = Magic = Spell XP + (2 * damage), HP = (1.33 * damage) whereas Defensive Casting XP = Magic = Spell XP + (1.33 * damage), HP = (1.33 * damage), Def = (1 * damage). If my calculations are correct... 👍👍👍 Sorry maths attack there 😅😅😅 Definitely something to consider if you are going after total XP as a tactic. Thanks again for the tip and the comment man! 👌👌👌

    Update as of project rebalance, get an air staff as your daily driver. Other Elemental attacks do not offer any DPS or maxit advantage over wind spells anymore, provided you've hit the magic level required to cast the higher level spell. The only exceptions would be creatures with an elemental weakness, which are few and far between in free-to-play especially.

      @@TheLumbridgeKnight Is this true? So using Wind Bolt is just as good as Fire bolt for damage AND exp? If so, what is the purpose of having four different elemental spells?

    • @TheLumbridgeKnight
      @TheLumbridgeKnight  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think this is only the case for enemies that have specific elemental weakness to the spell. So for wild bolt to beat fire bolt you would need to be targeting an enemy with 100% weakness to air.

    also now runecraft now can be decent. once u get some levels in magic u could kill body golems and mind golems in camdozaal.
    getting a full inventory of body runes grants 2000xp in runecraft. and about 300 runes. my alt atm is doing this to level up his combat and runecraft kinda passively. while my main is doing other stuff.

    • @TheLumbridgeKnight
      @TheLumbridgeKnight  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah to be honest I think the golems is one of the only ways I’d actually train runecrafting in F2P, just collecting drops as I level combat is simple. The faster Runecrafting methods are quite expensive and intense.

    also the west bank. u can also do this emote thing. u need 28 items. and do like 20 emotes. no joke.
    then u can waltz in there and grab whatever u need. do note to get out u need to emote again. or home teleport. but u get a VERY cool f2p armour that looks like virtus robes.

    You can splash with combat spells, not just curse. So you can autocast them, least click intensive method ever lol. There is an area around lumbridge/Varrock where you don't get xp though. I splash on the lesser demon in wizards tower which works well

    The major reason I never became a mage is due to having ruin stones and the cost to get those.
    This was way back in 2006. Maybe something changed since then.
    We didn't have the magic trainer outside of the starting point to give us stones to get us started.

    • @TheLumbridgeKnight
      @TheLumbridgeKnight  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah unfortunately runecrafting in F2P, while possible, is incredibly slow… I always recommend just making money and buying the runes from the GE. Even ironmen buying from a vendor is probably better than runecrafting 😅😅😅

  • @afrxsamurai1782
    @afrxsamurai1782 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hi there, there is one method which is very click intensive but is over 100k mage exp/hr and that is curse splash/high alching. i do this on the zammy mage in varrock castle. i even do this on members for pures as i believe it is faster exp the cammy tele/high alching as there is no animation delay which you get from the cammy tele spell. :)

    • @TheLumbridgeKnight
      @TheLumbridgeKnight  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the tips Afrx Samurai! So basically, if you use curse and then do a high alch straight after it cancels the curse animation so you can cast the two spells faster? Is that correct?

    Good tips and good video. Is superheat item a good source of magic exp to high alch? Or is killing moss giants more efficient.

    • @TheLumbridgeKnight
      @TheLumbridgeKnight  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Both are good methods to be honest and both can be used in tandem with other tasks, high alc being the better of the two.
      I think the answer is based on nature runes. So for ironmen nature runes are pretty hard to get, so I’d save them and just fight Moss giants. Also as high alch and super heat need items or ore, it depends if you have those things available. Again if you can just buy a tone of stuff to high alch, particularly since you can high alch noted items you can do this while say I don’t know teleporting to really boost your magic rate, or if your a member you can high alch while doing agility for a really good over all xp rate. Hopefully that helps answer your question. I need to remaster this guide as there are a few areas that I’ve missed out as I focused on almost purely combat magic 👍

    i mean besides magic the best u can use x for is range. cuz range is annoying to get started early on. and in f2p range can be quite decent for damage. its super cheap.
    with mithril arrows on the grand going for 2gp each. making em cheaper than bronze :D
    only bad thing with range in f2p is u cant auto pickup arrows. but once u get to like 50-60 range i think u can out damage magic cheaper at stuff like bryophyta boss.

      Yo 1joaootavio! I plan to make a guide in the future for members definitely! But I imagine it will be months before I get a video out for P2P 🤔 I think one of the best methods in terms of pure speed is to head to the Arceuus Library on Kourend and repeatedly do the book fetch quests in the library. If you have RuneLite you can eventually find where the books are pretty consistently, it’s dull but very fast xp! You can also afk using splashing too. A lot of people seem to recommend training magic in tandem with other skills, so high alching or enchanting while you skill something else. Hopefully that gives you a few starting points check out the OSRS Wiki page for a guide with a load of different strategies! 👍

      Hi matthewkrafft! To start magic training, the best thing to do is to go the GE in Varrock and just buy the best in slot equipment, (not including Bryophyta's Staff). Unfortunately you can't get any magic books other than the standard spell book that you start with in F2P. Once you have got the equipment, also buy a set of staffs (air, fire, water, earth). Also buy your runes from either the GE or the magic stores in Varrock or Port Sarim. If you need money run through the stronghold of security to get 10k coins to start you off. Hopefully, that kind of answers your question. Let me know if not and I can go into more details. 👍

      Yo Rubiktor012 welcome to the path of iron brother! If you’re not playing hardcore you can make some easy money doing steel leg runs in the wilderness. Head to the Ruins (east) in the wildy grab the steel legs then switch worlds. Once you got enough sell them to Horvik the armour in Varrock (you can world hop again here to make sure you get a good price). Make sure you do the Stronghold of Security if you haven’t already as that’s an easy 10k. If you’re playing hardcore then it’s a longer road but I’d start by levelling crafting and you can make some decent money selling gold jewellery to the jewellery shop in port sarim. Save your ruby rings as you can use them for rings of forging and smith Iron Plate Bodies which you can then sell to Horvik or use high level alchemy on again for a good overall profit 👍👍👍 hope that helps bro! I have a money making guide on the channel feel free to check it out just note that it misses the ruby ring step so it needs updating 👍

    I don't understand why you don't recommend defensive casting for free defense xp

    • @TheLumbridgeKnight
      @TheLumbridgeKnight  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Eno Yaka, you can absolutely use defensive casting to train magic and defence at the same time. However, as I try to explain in the video, it’s not free. You get less magic experience per spell. So you will level up your magic slower. Overall though you gain slightly more total xp. But if you train defence using defensive melee you will get a lot more defence exp a lot quicker and it saves you the cost of runes. Really depends how you want to play it and what limits/targets you put on your account. For the guide I recommend the most cost effective and quickest way to train just your magic level. Hope that makes sense man 👍 Thanks for the comment 👍👍👌

    just watched a video from a guy making "the best pk character in 3 days" and it got me into the game, downloaded it today and the game seems fun. The guy seemed to be playing a mage thats why I am here ^^ wonder if getting the highest magic will help me to pk? anyway, the more I train the better right? like training melee wont make me a worse mage? thank you

    • @TheLumbridgeKnight
      @TheLumbridgeKnight  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yoo Z, welcome to OSRS! Yeah so the higher your magic the better in general as it will unlock more powerful spells so you can deal more damage. A word of caution if you're just making a pk account, training the other combat skills will increase your overall combat level, this will affect which level of the wilderness you can attack other players in. Back in the day we used to make 'pure' accounts as these accounts basically only trained 1 main combat stat (usually Magic, Ranged or Strength). The idea was basically to get an account with the highest possible max hit and lowest possible combat level. If you're just making an all round account, or you want to Pk in castle wars and go into members/endgame an all round account will be less restrictive and better in the long term. 😅 Unfortunately I'm no expert on Pk'ing... but something to think about... Hope that helps and good luck in the game hope you are enjoying it! 👍👍👍

      Yeah of course! Always play your way! Just know that you will probably get a lower XP rate and once you move on to tougher enemies you might end up casting a lot of spells so it might be more cost effective to use higher level spells. This is because although all spells have basically the same accuracy, magic max damage depends on the spell so fire strike has a max hit of 8 versus fire blasts 16 (this is also why you might get a lower XP rate as you get extra XP for each point of damage dealt) Hopefully that helps answer your question 😅👍 Thanks for the comment!

I think you need to kill Minatours, Flesh Crawlers, Catablepon and Ankou, each drop a piece and once you have all 4 you can combine them to make the sceptre. Then if you go to the end of floor 4 you can get the ghost to imbue it so it wont break when all the charges are used. Then you charge the staff by using sceptre parts on it. • @ChrisR2020
    @ChrisR2020 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    F2p magic really disappoints. I mean, it has potential, but... well, let's put it this way...
    Why is the best in slot gear a mix 'n match set of wizard robes and zamorak robes?
    Seriously... it makes it look like gear for the class was an afterthought for the developer, and it does a very poor job conveying that it is even a serious class in the game.
    I mean, yea, ranged purest mix and match too, but at least they do have a complete set of D hide for when defense is trained.
    And that brings me to my second point. Why does magic get to be the odd one out and get no armor set for when they do have defense Trained?
    Mages who are tanks basically just swap for a helmet and shield as it's the most armor they can get for the least penalties.
    This further makes them look like a class that the devs forgot because they have no dedicated "high defense" armor.
    Then, to top it all off, they stop their damage progression at level 59...leading to them being outclassed in damage easily at later levels. But wait, there's more... not only does everyone else out damage them later in level, but even low levels can have magic defense, because magic defense is controlled by magic level, not defense, and yoy can train that on any character without penalty to your combat level...
    If I were one of the devs, I would do the following:
    Give blue and black skirts a +2 magic att bonus, including the trimmed variants.
    Add a hood for the Zamorak monk robe set with a +2 magic att and +1 prayer.
    Make the unholy symbol f2p
    Make splitbark f2p, or make a new set of armor entirely to fill in the niche of having some weaker melee defense with either no magic penalties or smaller magic bonuses.
    The robes should be what gives the best magic attack, the armor should give protection at the cost of some magic attack, but not look like some makeshift nonsense like just throwing on a rune helmet and shield...
    I would also probably either grant f2p access to prayer potions, or a weaker version of them. It doesn't do prayer justice to have the free demo of it make it look like it's just a bonus that lasts maybe 2 minutes tops.

      Yo ChrisR2020! Thanks for the detailed comment brother! 👍👍👍
      I totally agree! Firstly, from an OCD perspective looking like a tramp with none matching/random coloured equipment really annoys me! 😅😂 They could at least let you dye the zammy monk robes to match... On a random note I'd like to see some more dye colours too...
      I think Splitbark armour or a variant of it would fit perfectly into F2P and lets be honest, there isn't a single person rocking P2P with Splitbark. Its basically a dead item set atm.
      I do need to go back and remaster this guide to include splashing though... Major oversight on my part... Anyway thanks again! Maybe one day we will get our wish! I hope Jagex look to do some work on F2P overall in the not too distant future.

    • @ChrisR2020
      @ChrisR2020 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @TheLumbridgeKnight I don't know if I would agree on dying zamorak robes, cause then they wouldn't really be zamorak robes anymore, but I would like to see blue and black robes be able to be dyed. Only catch is they might interfere a bit since we already have a bunch of other color robes in other varieties. That, and no other "armor" set has that kind of freedom to be modified in appearance, so I doubt they would do it.
      Though, I have wanted to see castle wars armor updated to try and rejuvenate it and bring people back to playing it.
      It would be nice to see the castle wars armors include a set that is on par with rune, as well as a set of robes, and ranged armor. Presumably also a set of the defense based mage armor.
      The design of the armor they have now though is, not great. It's just a recoloring of the normal armor. I'd instead like to see it be a remodeling of the armor, much the way the swords have different models from standard, even though they are just a recoloring of the blurite sword.
      More decorative weapons from it would be nice too.
      Castle wars was basically killed by adding more trimmed sets to the game, which were favored over the castle wars armor. But if castle wars armor and weapons had different, more detailed models, then I think they would be liked more. I suspect some of those details could be made to be dyed to give variety to its appearance.
      That might make for a good way to introduce dyeable armors, and maybe weapons, too.
      Heck, even just adding more variety to rune weapons in the form of more decorative weapons from castle wars would likely be enough to draw more people into playing it. But a decorative fire staff or decorative robes, especially that could be dyed whatever color you wanted, that would be awesome.

      Yeah that’s something else I’ve harped on about 😅 castle wars… maybe I should do a video about it. 🤔 A guide and maybe a how to improve it…
      I think like you say the rewards are a key factor and given the current players I don’t think they are very well sought after. They equally don’t look great either. I’d love to see some better rewards. And maybe some yearly tournaments plus maybe a few new maps to mix the gameplay up a bit.
      On the subject of armour the Ironman armour being locked at iron really annoys me. I love the look of it and it would be nice to actually wear it. I think you should be able to combine it or pay to upgrade it to a trimmed version so you can wear it and make it useful. What’s the point in making cool looking armour at iron level so it’s obsolete after about 5 minutes…

      @TheLumbridgeKnight I also don't think it helps that the castle wars gear takes such a ludicrous amount of time to get. 500 tickets for basically an Addy long sword that looks fancy... at an average of 2 tickets per 20 minutes. It's not great.
      Sure, you get to keep a broken version of it that you can repair if you die, but... I think it would be better if it was just dropped on death as a regular Addy long, and you had to farm for a replacement, but they had a much lower cost. That way, all the rewards are consumables.
      Just feels self defeating to take like 80 hours to get a piece of equipment from it and then never need to do it again.

      Yep! The rewards from castle wars are really not worthwhile imo... 😅 I'd love to see them do something with this content to refresh it and bring players back...

    Splashing is in no way "click intensive" as you mentioned. I hope by now you've realized your error but let me explain if not. You should reduce your magic accuracy to -65 as you explained. However, you can autocast any attack spell to receive xp and your attack will splash every time. Using Runelite, you can extend your combat logout to 25 minutes giving you 25 minutes of splash xp until you have to click ANYWHERE ON SCREEN to avoid logging out. This is an immense oversight on your part, maybe you didn't want viewers to know this mechanic to retain some relevancy to the other methods you listed. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say this, we appreciate your tips. However, you dropped the ball on this one man...

      Yo tristanchin-loy832! Thanks for your comment dude! 😁 It is a big oversight on my part, I assumed that there was a patch to prevent this or limit the standard method, so the only way to splash properly now was to use the none combat spells? I definitely remember reading somewhere that they tried to patch it out, though that may only apply in the Lumbridge area. If you can splash as standard then yeah this is a HUGE AFK bonus method and something I’ll have to correct when I update this guide or release a separate guide to retcon this! I think my thinking was mainly that as an Ironman you’ll probably want to maximise your XP rate and rune use-age. But if you have plenty of money splashing would definitely be the way to level in the background! 👍👍👍 Thanks again and leave it with me I’ll try to get a correction or something out in the near future 😁 Also more than happy to get some solid feedback where I miss something, so this is a really top comment IMO 😁👍 Also why do you get more time on the RuneLite client is it just a quirk of the client or something?

      The point of the guide is to look at combat spells and methods to help players, mainly looking at ironmen. It definitely needs a bit of work on the splashing side, but for ironmen splashing is probably only cost effective at low level anyway. Not really a helpful comment dude, as you haven’t shared any of your tips or how the guide could be improved…
