@@thenightcallersmaximumrock4291 Pat explains it all in his humorous documentary he made about trying out for a pro baseball team (it's called Seventh Inning Stretch)...he said the weight gain started after he was put on prednisone to combat a nearly deadly allergic reaction he kept having apparently caused by stress. He said he'd always been skinny before that but even once off the pred. it became a daily struggle to keep the weight off.
One of the best bands ever!
Very underrated song from a very underrated band!
Classic performance by a classic band.
This may be my favorite Smithereens song. Pat wrote this for his daughter. Anyone with kids will get Pat's words.
Great song! Love the Smithereens, but hate myself for taking them for granted. :( They played in the Chicago area often but I never saw them play.
This is such an incredible song! Just love the driving guitars! Another Smithereens video I'm wearing out on TH-cam!
Great performance!
I knew this song from OST "Boys don't cry" . This is a great song.
Great look 👀 Pat in white suit in the middle, every one else in black all around!!!
This was way back in November 1999. Pat was in fine form and they had just released "God Save The Smithereens".
he was already clearly gaining weight. the whole story about him is strange

What did Babjak say to the host at 0:36 or so? It sure brought out the New York attitude in him!!!
I wonder, too! lol
All I can hear is "What's up, Russ?"
This doesn't look like the original lead singer.
Dan S. It is.
Add some weight, take away some hair, and you'll see it's still Pat D. Besides, no one else has that voice!
That voice could only belong to one man, I'm a long standing Smithereens fan from the UK, the best power/pop/rock band on the planet.🤟
He was probably getting sick by this time
