“I bought it with my grown-up money” 😂
Dang you beat me to it. Best comment ever.
😎
Bet that money is outdated 😂
Best line ever
Stumbled across your channel about a month ago. I'm hooked. Just did a dollar tree MRE for fun after seeing yours. Thanks for all your great suggestions.
That’s awesome to hear! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for another video! That entree combo turned out really well, and the designer of that folding fork under the lid deserves an award! Sort of surprising they didn't advertise the fork on the package; being completely self-contained would be a selling point. Getting close to the time where Halloween candy will be on clearance; I think 20 or 30 fun-sized candy bars would be a great walking around snack 😃!
You are not wrong!
I’ll probably never make one of these, but I really enjoy watching you do these.
I can respect that. Thanks for watching!
Dayum 😮 Junior feels called out 😂
And so he should
Another great video. If you’re ever in Michigan, Indiana or Ohio look for a Meijer store would love a video from there.
I will be watching for that in my travels
What we appreciate is the inspiration to try improving the variety of our storage and emergency kits. No need to have a boring SOS (Same Old Stuff) menu. We were not fans of flavoured tuna in the past. A little experimentation with several tuna flavours (calamansi, lemon pepper, and spicy), the small sachets of good quality mayonnaise, and assorted crackers from our favourite local supermarket, allowed us to enjoy some great protein rich quick snacks during emergencies and campouts. Some "wants" we have to create and package ourselves. Our young troops really want to try some of those fantastic snack bars you have demonstrated. Not much available in our area of the Philippines. We are thinking to take a trip to the Subic Bay area, check out markets that cater to the many EXpats and see if we can find something with a decent expiry date. If that is a no go, there are high quality Australian rolled oats as a starting point. We will see what combinations can be made at home and vacuum sealed!
Should be interesting to see what you find. I really want to do some foreign travel to see what I can make from other locations.
Chicken of the Sea's siracha tuna pouches I found at the Dollar Tree near me have a foldable plastic spoon which I wash and keep in a Ziploc bag in my go bag and more in my Bug Out Bag.
Great idea! I didn’t know they had those.
Yeah but just the surveys for some reason plus the have the $1.25 here or 4 for $5
It's actually kind of a spark but still!
What a fun video! "Chocolate butt" "grown up money" 😂😂😂 you're a mess this morning LOL i missed you on Wednesday.
Yeah, the last two weeks have been very demanding of my time at work. It’s a very busy period but I’m coming out the other side of that. Hope to be getting back on track with the bonus videos. Thanks for inspiring me to keep at it!
I love it when a plan comes together Hanibal the A team
The greatest team leader ever
I made up 10 MRE bags to have for the first few days after SHTF. I know I'll be stressed, a little panicky, & tired. So they will definitely be needed as I won't feel like cooking. I bought everything on Amazon ... from energy bars, to Beefaroni cups, to Sailor pilot bread, to meat spread, to desserts, to packets of peanut butter, jelly, & mayo.
Buy a few things every time you grocery shop.Even if you don't have much money, buy one less thing to eat now to have one more thing to eat then.
Exactly
Lots of great ideas and unique items, as always.
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing your latest finds. Jalapeno in a Kind bar, Who knew. Lemonheads, I have not thought of those in years. Dear Wife, and I watch your vid while having morning coffee, we both used to get Lemonheads & Jollyrancher sour apple hard candies for all our road trips. Your vids bring forth fond memories of great road trips, camping trips, and spending quality time together. We are still making memories some 50 years down this road from our beginning. You are a treasure with, saying; grownup money, and the like. Keep on keeping on Brother. Looking forward to next week. See you on the trail.
Thank you so much. That made my entire morning.
Jolly Ranchers are still a road trip staple in my life even though I’ve almost died a couple of times from choking on them. It’s been suggested by family members that I should switch to Lifesavers 😂
@@alanbierhoff6831 changing to lifesavers, what fun would that be, right. Spice of life in all its glory. I too have almost chocked on cough drops though.. Thanks for the chuckles my Friend. See you on the trail.
Just recently found your channel loving it love the homemade mre’s
Thank you! I’m glad you’re here!
This meal had a ton of cohesion! Nicely done!
Thank you!
I hope you know the knowledge you put out on your channel was put into use when I was planning for the recent hurricanes!!
That makes me happy. The idea that something I said helped someone is all I want from this channel.
Great mre. I love tuna and lemon heads.
Thanks! This one had some good stuff!
I would love you to make a Homemade MRE from items from WinCo grocery store. Love your videos!
I don’t have them around me but they are going on the list.
Winco is the best grocery store chain in the country! (After three years traveling the country in our RV, we’re always happy to get back to Winco’s area!)
So cool! I am going to start looking for some of your goodies.
Happy hunting!
Loma Linda meals are good nutritional options. I eat them regularly & always stock up when they are on clearance. The Southwest Bowl with a pouch of Great Value shredded bbq pork is always in my emergency rotation.
That sounds pretty awesome!
I have been admiring the teardrop and something I do when I watch is play with ideas in my head of things I would try to modify it. One thing that jumps out or at me every time I watch it would be to add cargo netting or something like canvas storage pouches in the lid of the clamshell. I know the air cylinders that hold it up might also need to be bulked up some too accommodate the added weight, but there seems to be a lot of potential storage for small items in that lid. In case your looking for ideas to get organized... 🍻
That’s a great idea. I’ll see what I can find for that.
RIP George Prepared! Great show as always!
Thanks!
Good morning from this Nana from Montana and Pony 🐈⬛,I'm a bit under the weather today, but DBA video is giving me a nice little pick me up this morning 🤩
I hope it helps and that you get feeling better quickly!
Get well soon, Nana. ❤
Oh man it’s Sunday ! New video
Good morning!
This is great. Walmart being the only 'carry all' store in my area, the bulk of my 'road food' comes from Walmart. I'm familiar with a lot of this stuff.
They’ve been a great source for me
Don't you love grown up money 😆 Some awesome closeout finds!
Thanks! Nothing spends like grown up money.
ACCESSORIES PACK IDEA... Amazon has Marconi EVOO single serving sachets 20 for $15, and other brands and flavors, as well. That might go miles towards moistening up entrees like these, and add a healthy calorie/flavor boost.
That’s a cool suggestion. Gonna look into it.
Having more than one Walmart can be an interesting lesson. I drive past two on my way to work, unless I"m working with a customer in which case I drive past a third. (600K between the city, it's sidekick town and the unincorporated areas around it, 6 Walmarts.) I'd say they have about 70% commonality in the food, and the clearance is wildly different between them.
Absolutely. It’s nuts how different they can be.
I will have to keep an eye out for the rice garbanzos item, and tune sides.
I need to go back for more before they’re all gone.
Hi DBA! You had me with Lemonheads!
Woohoo!
I’m only 4 minutes into this video and I’m finding it extra interesting 👍🏻
Something new for me to try doing next time I’m shopping at ‘Big Blue” 😂
Awesome!! So glad to hear it!
I'm not sure but possibly the veggie themed entrees may have a longer shelf life over the meat included ones. That greek bowl is good.
Also I don't know if this is within the scope of your channel. I'd like to see someone put all these meal replacement shakes to the test.
Huel, Kachava, Athletic greens. AG1 is the darling of all youttube sponsorships. Kachava is the king of Instagram model corporate advertisements and Huel doesn't come up so much. But I'm sure I will be seeing it in my feed very soon. Also what are some meal replacement shakes or powders @ the grocery store or big box? None of these appear there.
The veggie items stay good longer because the meat is the first thing to go bad in most shelf stable meals. So veggie meals without fatty additives can stay good longer. I’m not sure about meal replacement shakes. I don’t really use them so I’m not versed on them.
Another great, "They make WHAT?" episode.
Thanks!
All good ideas, thanks
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching.
Oh, those KIND savory bars are gluten-free! Gotta try, will be good for those with Celiac Disease. Thanks !!
You’re welcome. Glad to find something that helps!
Great idea walmart has some stuff for sure.
They are a great source for this
One of my favorite desserts are the 4 packs of nutter butters.
Those are great if you can find them with a decent shelf life.
Have you gone to dollar general? In the dollar isles they have all the movie candies Thst dollar tree has for $1.25 for only one dollar plus you can get some great foods for a dollar or under. They have good snacks also and good coffee and drink mixes .
I have done one there. They are a great source for items for sure.
Found your channel a month ago. I enjoy rhe videos. They give me great ideas. For emergency meals and lunches at work. I have packed lunch or dinner for a while now. I work at Subway and we have pizza too, at the gas station where i work. I have been a sandwich artist for 7 years. My fellow employees are sick of pizza and subs. Plus the high prices. So, they have started what i have. The only difference, is we use the microwave to heat stuff if needed. Thank you for your editing. Thank you for not making us, watch you chew. Just kidding. It does not matter to me. Love you and your family. I send many blessings your way.
Oh, I put a lot of effort into not burdening people with having to watch me chew. I don’t want to see it so I’m sure others don’t want to either.
really great video, dragon breath and all!
Thank you!
So, I have been thinking about this idea for a while now. Have you ever thought about creating an MRE from an international grocery store? H Mart is one that comes to mind that has some stores nationwide wide. But I am sure there are others. Could be a fun challenge.
I’ve done an international market but not an ethnic specific store. At least not yet.
Have you gone to Jim’s jungle in Cincinnati yet to go do a show?
I have not but it’s on my bucket list. I’m working on trying to do a road trip there soon.
just curious, I know you do these for content, but do you ever go back afterward and actually remake any for your own stock of homemade mres?
Yes. Once I test the new items I will go back for more of the things I like. I have completely rebuilt the ones I really liked.
Great episode.
Thank you!
GREAT VID DBA, U FOUND SOME DIFFERENT STUFF. WOW 23K SUBS.. CONGRATS. TO BAD THE TROLLS ARE SO BAD U HV TO PUT UP A DISCLAIMER NOW. KEEP ROCKING IT.....Z....
It’s all good. It’s still fun!
Not really sure what is going on with the sound in this one, I only get audio in my left ear. Sound is normal when I tried your last video and checking a couple other TH-camrs the sound is normal. So for me at least it is isolated to this video. But I was still able to enjoy the content.
I’ve gotten that a couple times now and I have no idea why it’s happening. My settings are all the same so it must have been a glitch in the upload.
@@dadbudgetadventures Wow that was a fast responce. It did not stop me from enjoying your video, just wanted to let you know about it.
Maybe an MRE or two from stores you’ve been to more than once or twice, featuring components that have never been used in one of your MRE’s before 🤷♂️
If that’s too easy for you, save my idea until it becomes a real challenge 😂
Note to self for later…
Just an FYI: when playing your video I received audio in only the left channel. Not a complaint, just thought you might like to know.
I’ve had someone else mention that. I have no idea why that would be. The settings on my end haven’t changed for this video.
Good stuff.
Thanks!
Excellent video
Thank you!
A pot roast is vegetarian until you add the beef.
I think the meatless entre with a separate meat side is a great option. If the rest of the MRE is also set up vegetarian, it can be eaten by a vegetarian friend who does not have to put the meat in it and then you can have double meat for your meal.
There you go. You absolutely nailed it!
You shouldn't have a friend who's vegetarian
@@billykl2790 What if someone got Alpha-gal syndrome by no fault of their own?
Remember to check the dates as oil will spoil.
For sure
Loved it
Thanks!
Given recent storms, you’ve shown it wouldn’t cost an arm and a leg to get two weeks ready.
Exactly!
How about a MRE from an ethnic food store. I know down in Florida we have some very large Asian food stores with lots of fun and cheap foods
I have done one from our international market but not a singular ethnic store yet.
@@dadbudgetadventures oh ill have to find that video!! Thanks Dad!
all kinds of options if you look around
For sure. Gotta keep your eyes and mind open.
Same as Walgreens. 70-90% off at one Walgreens. full price at the one 2 miles away
It’s all about the demographics
@@dadbudgetadventures sometimes but I see it in the same city
Thanks Again
You’re quite welcome!
have you tried target or winn dixie to make mres?
I did one at Target recently. I don’t have WD in my area but they are on my list!
@@dadbudgetadventures thanks for responding. i just found your channel and didnt see the target one. im going newest to oldest! ill find it soon enough
Went in to walmart they didnt have much bread they had keystone beef or chicken in the can. Its different not very stocked.
I’m seeing more and more of their products lately. Trying what I can.
The Starbucks cocoa mixes require fresh hot milk, not water. Where in your MRE is fresh milk?
I made it with water and it turned out just fine
👍👍
😎
Love your show BUT having a disclaimer at the beginning is just sad ...
Its the world we live in. There are people who will sue over anything, trying to make a few bucks.
It’s not a legal disclaimer, I’m just making fun of all the people who come at me from the Cult of the MRE. People get really worked up about those things for some reason.
@@dadbudgetadventures good, I'm glad the trolls aren't forcing you change your content to something boring.👍
Try Bass Pro Shops
I tried a while back and all I found was jerky and Black Rifle coffee. I’ll keep watching but so far it’s been a no-go.
👍👏🏻👏🏻👍
😎
How About A Homemade MRE At Priceless Foods
I don’t have them near me but I’ll be on the lookout!
You cannot go wrong with tuna, camping emergency "meat" all the time.
Absolutely. It is pretty versatile but I definitely want something to go with it.
Ouch, my ears. The left-ear only audio is giving me a headache. I'm surprised I didn't see anyone else mentioning it in the comments.
There are a couple. I’m not sure where the problem came from since my settings are always the same. I think it must have happened in the upload.
You sure that "olive" didn't have legs ?? 😅
😬
Jalapeño and cocoa? Pass
You’re missing out!
MY VIDEO HAD NO SOUND
That’s odd. Not sure what’s up with that.
Algorithm Comment
I’ll take it!
First time I see your legal notice about not being a military MRE…Sorry to hear you need to cover your a$$ about this. You would think people have enough common sense to know this.
It’s not a legal notice, it’s a troll warning. I’m just addressing the constant stupidity I get comments on.
@@dadbudgetadventures now that explain it that way, good idea. I enjoy your MRE videos and I started doing the “MRE challenge”, using the same rules. So far, I have only created 3 meals, but I enjoy the challenge.
I think it’s a pretty sad commentary on today’s society when you need to put up a disclaimer telling Junior to calm down
People have totally lost their senses of humor and reasoning
Carry on 😊
You are correct. I get so many people from the Cult of the MRE who have something to say about this stuff so I decided to have a little fun at their expense.
