This lesson emphasizes the importance of being able to sing and orchestrate standard melodies on the drums before creating your own. By focusing on simple, memorable motifs and themes, you'll learn to craft solos that resonate deeply with listeners. Always Original proving that Drums have always been musical. Super great!
Thanks for the watch Alan!
I meant what I played and I played what I meant. A drummer is soulful 100%.
Right on Matt. That’s all we can do!
You are Great Quincy! You are my Favorite and Very Inspirational Online Teacher. Thank You 🙏
That's very kind of you Fabio. Glad you like my lessons so much!
THANKS MUCH QUINCY. I WILL DEFINITELY ADD THIS TO MY PRACTICE ROUTINE. BEING MORE AWARE OF THE MELODY. I AM UPPER BEGINNER LOW INTERMEDIATE VERY DEDICATED TO MY DRUMMING. THANKS
Right on! Have fun my man.
caramba!!!! you do it again!!! you are a big master!!!! master of master !! finish! thk!!!
Thank you very much Pablo for your kind words🙏🏾
After drumming for 6 plus decades with emphasis on Jazz and Swing I found your site, I realized that I wasn’t playing the melody. Now my Jazz, especially Be Bop incorporates it and what a difference. Many thanks Master Q !
Yes, melody can make a huge difference. Cheers David!
Thanks Q! for another wowing lesson. Saying more with less and keeping it hip as always 🥁 ✌🏼
Right on Lucas! Always good to hear from you dude.
Always 🔥
Your lessons have me reaching for a level I have searched for for years. I can even use this concept on my duo gig where all I play is a snare and brushes.
Love to hear that TC!! Duo gigs are an awesome time to really shed brushes. Have fun! 🚗🚗🚗
Great lesson,thank you Quincy
Glad you liked it!
Thanks Q for another meaningful video. I will soon play a solo in "Caravan" (at least 1 chorus) - and will practice as you show. My 8 bar period feeling has improved a lot in recent years, so I'm almost never in doubt. Played "Cute" with a big band on Sunday and the 32 bar solo was no problem :D
Thanks my man!
That’s great to hear! So happy your practicing has helped you with your soloing skills and confidence.
You're the man, Quincy! Great video! You're a wonderful player, man, and instructor! Appreciate you, my bro! Happy drumming!
I appreciate that! Thank you🙏🏾
Q - At 2:35 - The bass drum technique to create two tones, (one pulling off the head, then digging in, I assume?). Do you find yourself doing that often at gigs? Aka worth practicing, or more of a fun ‘extended technique’ to use on rare occasions?
I use that on and off technique all the time Matt. I’ve seen or heard others use a lot too. Definitely worth shedding and getting comfortable with. Cheers!
Dope 💪🏾
Q for president.
Ha! Honestly, I think I’d do a better job than Biden AND Trump at their ages!
Otra vez Eduardo Loco de España aqui para disfrutar las lecciones maravillosas de Don Quincy ! This was a whole lotta fun and you make it sound so good and it flows so nicely. Thanks Quincy. BTW Is your voice a little rough today ? Hope you're OK.
My man! Glad you enjoyed this one my man. And yes, my voice was pretty scratchy for this video. Sometimes I eat or drink things that do that to my voice. Not sure what it was. Either way, I’m ok. Thanks for noticing🙏🏾
Quincy, what time are those drum lessons where you are? I'm working that week but in the UK I might be able to make the lessons given the time difference
Thanks again
Dave
Come join us at the lessons! It’s going to be a ball!! They start at 1pm CT. Maybe not an ideal time for you but hopefully it’ll be worth it:)
@@drumqtipsby my reckoning, that'll be 6pm here in Scotland. Quincy can you send me a link to the details please 🙏

@@drumqtips thank you Quincy. It's saying that they're Rome (8pm GMT +2) so that makes it too late for me to be on the kit. I'll look for future stuff that you are running
Thanks again
Dave
