    I learn from a Taiwan lady chef and since then I will bring a pk, 1 kg sugar to Australia , when the strawberries are very cheap A$ 0.80 to $ 1 per kg, I will buy 2 kg back and cook it into jam. Since they are ripe, I just wash them and buy 2 red apple, peel and slice thinly , put them with the 1 kg of sugar , simmer until all are soften and messy. Done. So good and my relatives wanted me to buy the strawberry jam for her . I told her that was homemade !

    Hi, i made ten k grams of strawberry jam. It's color was beautiful red after cooking but almost one month later its color changed and the taste slightly changed. I kept the jars out of the fridge, was it the reason? What should i do.?

    The jam is good. But the method to sterilize the bottle and lid should be added. Then it can be stored for a long time. The method I used was:
    1. wash all bottles, lids and utensils.
    2. put cold water in a bigger steal pot. Put all bottles and lids in the water.
    3. Boil the water. The boiling time should be at least 15 minutes. When boiling, put your steel spoon, steel funnel in. You can even sterilize your plate by pouring some boiling water over it. Make sure everything in contact with the jam are sterilized.
    4. Turn off heat. Pick up a bottle. Pour the hot water inside the bottle back to the pot. Put the empty bottle on your plate. Put a sterilized wide mouth stainless steel funnel on the bottle.
    5. Pour some very hot jam (just boiled) into the bottle. Put the lid on, and tighten.
    6. When the bottle is cooler, put label on.
    By using this method, I sterilized all my jams. Some of them were stored for close to a year. They were still good.
    Hope that helps.

      Thanks for the suggestion it may helps with others for selling jam, but it’s a bit dangerous for me since I accidentally hurt myself 🥲 I’ve washed by hand for all the bottles using IKEA bottle brush with bit of lemon & aloe vera washing liquid once done, put it in a large dish dryer machine, it’s enough for sterilise and drying completely like my everyday routine for washing glassware 😊😊😊It's easy to make strawberry jam not that difficult, so the freshest and the best, and keep in the fridge for sure 👍

    • @elizabethcasarezza7220
      @elizabethcasarezza7220 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Above the ingredients is so expensive, because organic strawberries 600g at least £5.50 in the groceries store or even home-plant, it need so much time to care and spent money in soil, compost and insect spray for more care, also not included others ingredients, gas or electric bill for an hour cooking the jam and hard work fees and only makes 1 jar. LOL 😁

      Add a knob of butter and stir in to melt. This will help to dissolve any remaining scum and bubbles. Read more at: yummyeasycooking.blogspot.com/2018/06/homemade-strawberry-jam.html
