I just traded my 2024 AT4 HD in Thunderstorm Gray on a AT4X HD in White. Picking it up tomorrow. Its the exact truck in this review. I got a 10-year paint and interior protection, not sure if it's worth it but for 6 bucks a month I figured I'll take my paint and leather being warrantied for a bit! Also, I have the Banks Pedal Monster on my current truck that I will be removing tomorrow for the new truck and it makes a world of difference in the Turbo Lag. It's a totally different truck with it on. For $299.00 it's a great product! Great review as always JB!
I was out on some trails here in mountains of nc. My buddies bought the ram reble 2500 and one a gmc at4x both diesels. The ram crawled everywhere it went hardly spinning a tire. The at4 got stuck multiple times. Maybe the duramax had too much torque down low idk.
GM does not have a Raptor competitor so wrong GM is lacking Off road they made the blazer into a cross over city vehicle when the blazer was a OFF Road truck GM might have some off road vehicles but GM does not have balls to make a Raptor competitor.
High idle should definitely be standard on diesels, just like how Ram does it. GM uses the steering wheel buttons, same as Ram. Makes zero sense to have it as an additional option.
I still can just not justify paying that much for a truck. Ridiculously overpriced all the trucks right now in that category are way overpriced regardless of what Brand you go with.
It’s really for running accessories, the truck revs up on its own for warming up. High idle isn’t for cold but more for keeping the power up while running things so it doesn’t drain the battery.
It is and yet there is a lot of value. For example, you can find these for $93,000. Now load up a Ford Platinum F-250 with the Tremor package and you will be right at $8500 more. I wish the AT4X came with color coordinated front and rear bumpers. I don’t care for the black. If I buy an AT4x, I’d have them painted to match the rest of the body. Here is where GM falls behind Ford and why Ford may be a better option. (1) interior ambient lighting. None of the GM trucks offer this very nice feature. Ford use to offer a multi color ambient lighting system. It was awesome. I don’t know why they now only offer blue. Regardless it’s super inexpensive to do. GM on this price point should have it installed! (2) panoramic skylight. (3) powered adjustable floor pedals and steering telescoping and tilt wheel. (4) aluminum body which holds up a lot better with a little bit of care. (5) lay flat seats. Yes yes I know. But I drive a ton. I need to lay down and sleep 30-45 minutes the lay flat seats are really nice. (6) solid front axle. I find the solid is easier to keep aligned and it just seems easier to maintain over all. (7) 2000 watt power inverter! I also like the customization options on the Fords has for the instrument cluster. Now… GM has a couple of really nice things that FORD does not. (1) multi-pro tail gate. This is by far the revolutionary tailgate design. Seriously the new GM tailgate is awesome. The only thing that would make it better is power up and power down to any configuration. (2) automatic four wheel drive. (3) On the AT4x, the shocks are absolutely wonderful.
Have you seen the market these days? Everything is overpriced.. Hyundais for over $50k these days. Either hold off buying anything and drive your old vehicle into the ground and hope the market crashes and comes back down to pre-Covid prices OR… suck it up while Bidenflation is in full effect and buy
I think white trucks look the best with body color everything. So like I’d rather have a regular AT4 or a Z71 Sport. I’d probably rather have those two regardless though. Red, black and blue looks good regardless (body color or chrome). The new Thunderstorm color definitely needs body color or black bumpers instead of chrome. Silver is the same way. Those are my opinions. As for the 6.6 gas, I’m calling you out on every video going forward that you mention it and lack of power after your recent High Output Cummins video lol. I don’t want to hear that nonsense anymore, elevation or not, after that trucks performance lol.
I am disappointed with the plug in the back. You can't run any power tools. Not even a shop vac. Basically just a battery charger. I need to have a shop install a 2nd battery (which i should of had the factory do) and an amplifier to boost the amp output of the bed outlet to run my power tools. Smh
I live in south Florida and work on all these new trucks. All brands. There's no shortage of money here and they are everywhere. I ask everyone how do they like they're truck. Nobody and I mean nobody says "I love it". Everybody has problems right from day one, doesn't matter the manufacturer. It's a shame
JB… I’ve read several 6.6 L8T HD owners tell me in forums the L8T is day and night better with a Banks Pedal Monster. Can you for the sake of research, get a Banks Pedal Monster and make a video on the difference it makes? still waiting for GM to build my ZR2 HD. Thanks man 👍🏾
Storm Trooper. My buddy at work just got his wife the Range Rover (for context he daily drives a 911 Turbo S) and they went Storm Trooper. Looks good but not for me. Another fun fact - theirs was one of the first ones delivered to the US and it got caught up in customs for 2 months for an emissions certification.
I've owned them all in my life time. Ram's, Ford's, and GM's. I've driven diesel pickup trucks most of my adult life. I'm 65 years old...so I can say I have some experience with all of big three manufactures. I do like the looks of the new GMC HD series pickups so much that I test drove a 2024 Denali Ultimate. After driving it with the salesman we both were in agreement that the seats sucked in it. It reminded me quickly how much more comfortable the seats are in my 2023 Ram 2500 Limited. My Cummins is getting 21 mpg in town and 24 on the interstate. When GMC can do that...I would think about them again...but for now it's hard to beat the truck I'm driving. @@Electricmanscott
So you are killing me with your ring gear comments. Size of the ring gear mainly affects the strength of the axle and how much tourque it will take. The ratio is what multiplys the tourque. That said, two axel with the same ratio and different ring gear sizes willbput the same power to the ground
He’s meaning the 3500 trucks with the 12” ring gear are stronger and have less or no torque management. I can’t say the 2024s have no torque management but GM said when the 2020s came out that 3500 trucks had full torque in 1st gear and that 2500s did not. And it was because the 2500s had the 11.5” ring gear vs the 12” of the 3500s. This is diesel only. Gas trucks all have 11.5” regardless of truck series.

JR you are officially a Soccer Mom. That is a great offroad truck but no mention of that or offroad features such as lockers.

From what I read, the truck will idle at 1100 rpm on its own. Until it’s warm, I presume. The high idle switch only idles at 1200 rpm.

If it was 35,000 I'd get one. I like white trucks. I got a 2014 crew cab lt in white. Easy to clean.
