      how did it go man? replacing my 2010 turbo rn

    • @solarflare4259
      @solarflare4259 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mrswazey9161 the turbocharger install was easy. I had to disconnect the tail pipe midway where those bolts with springs were installed in order the pull the shot turbocharger out.I purchased new bolts and springs from the Rock Auto including the turbocharger and its oil return line hose. It came with all instructions and how to oil “prime it”.The new turbocharger came with new metal gasket. The hardest thing was to put the thermal shield back and to install the hose clamp over the turbocharger oil return line. I had to buy a long nose pliers from Harbor Freight and slide the hose clamp over the return line hose . The only way to access it was from under the car… I drained all the coolant and put new coolant , properly burped the cooling system and added coolant into the expansion bowl at the end… Took the car for a ride around the block a few times then on a longer ride on I-5…It runs like new now. The only thing I did not like is the lack of room to work around the engine …Follow the guidelines in the video and you should be good to go. It was my first turbocharger replacement and this video is for noobies like me…
      Good luck!

    Good vid, thanks! What parts do you need to replace when you're putting it back together? Like do you need to replace the nuts or lower exhaust gaskets? I ask because Toyota exhaust nuts are the metal locking type and there's a good chance they'll come loose if you try to reuse 'em... Learned that the hard way!

    I don't understand why you're removing the intercooler and downpipe....

    • @stone9882
      @stone9882 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Anthony Tini you need to remove intercooler cause the turbo was under it but the down pipe I don’t get why he did that

    • @bengalindo2119
      @bengalindo2119 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The reason you remove the downpipe is because it’s bolted to the hot side of the turbo, and because there’s (3) 14mm nuts that bolt the turbo to the up pipe. One of those are located right under the downpipe with zero room to work with. So it had to come off anyway.
