- Cornering on a mountain bike is the easiest thing to do, but the most difficult thing to master. Very few people understand exactly how much time there is to win or lose in the hundreds of corners that litter a track like Enduro World Series Pro's do. As such, we thought we'd slow them down to take a closer look at their technique, skills, power and performance in several sections whilst tackling EWS Loudenvielle.

While the vast majority of GMBN's content seems to be aimed at either general entertainment or information best suited for beginner riders, this video has useful information for all levels of rider ability. Neil and Doddy (at GMBN Tech) are the best presenters by far -- both know their trade well. Thanks for posting and more like this please!

The split screen shots and comparison of riders around a corner with the camera in a still position was cool.
I really like this video as it points out how a rider handles the bike and the difference it can make, in real world applications.

I was surprised at at how many times Neil mentioned them having trouble clipping back in. You would think they would have this down saying how long they’ve been riding but I guess when u r bouncing around like they do and going that fast it is pretty hard

It is funny how most training videos tell us to stay low, elbow out and all that, but watching the pros they are up high to allow the bike to move underneath them.

Is it just me or does it seem like Isabeau just floats... could it be rider weight (being so petite) that gives an advantage for grip and requiring less hard braking? Reminds me of my kiddo who never seems to get chatter through the gates while I struggle on the same conditions when practicing GS gates... he weighs like half my weight and never needs to scrub speed
I reckon Rude's brakes get pretty hot by the end of his stages
What's your opinion on chainstay length affecting cornering? I have a 450 reach bike, 65.5 hta and a 480 reach bike, 64.5 hta. Both have 435 chainstays. The shorter bike needs no pressure on the bars to corner well, but the longer reach bike needs pressure on the bars to keep the front tire traction. If it had longer chainstays would this make it corner as well as the shorter bike? Also I'm 179cm.
Depends on the weight bias. Longer seat stay relative to the wheelbase and you’ll have more weight on the front, reducing the demand to actively weight the front end.

@@mike_millard Yes. It’s one of the reasons why I like Nicolai bikes and their frames ability to adjust chainstay length. If you bike has a flip chip, you could use that to affect the weight bias, but it will be very slight. You can also play games with different length stems to see what works. You can usually find a cheap stem online that will be fine for testing purposes. I know it sounds like a bit of work, but once you get your bike dialed you’ll have more confidence and that leads to more fun.

Breaking down what the pro's were doing in slow motion was a nice touch just to see different styles but... Cornering has become a super repetitive topic , not even just for GMBN but in general. I know its inevitable to an extent and that there's a huge in flux of new riders, yet you guys just had a video posted 2 weeks ago for cornering ! In any case love the guys and the videos, my two cents: please spread the content around a bit that way the regular viewers aren't getting recycled content with a new name on it !
