I was fortunate to be in Montreux last week for Freddie's birthday. I flew in on September 5th and bought roses to put on his statue. I went there before checking in to the hotel. I recommend it to all Queen/Freddie fans to make it to Montreux. It was such a moving experience. I met Queen fans from all over the world. You can definitely feel Freddie's spirit there.

I wish I could get into a time machine so I could press the button marked "Live Aid 1985 , Wembley Stadium, England" to savor the music and the magic of Freddie Mercury and Queen. I'm never tired of listening to Queen songs over and over again and it always brings tears to my eyes whenever I listen "Love of My Life". Today is August 31, 2020. In 5 days it will be your birthday. Advance Happy Birthday in Heaven Freddie!

I remember in the 1970s that Freddie Mercury had the most impeccable English language speaking skills I’ve ever heard in my life. They were taught to speak that way at boarding school when he was there in India. Wow!!

Thank you SO SO much for doing this. You know Freddie is our favorite son here in Britain. Freddie, born in Zanzibar, schooled in India, and now firmly ensconced as the best Son of a Country he adopted. Britain. He is our National Treasure, but he belongs to the whole World :) Its lovely to see you enjoying him and your emotions do you credit Sir. Hail Freddie, the TRUE Queen of England :) xx

I believe that the word “talent” barely speaks to Freddie’s gift. I think what we respond to is his Spirit and his Heart. Nothing else can explain how after all these years he still lifts us to tears of gratitude, joy, and awe. He delivered through his voice an infusion of Love to all who could hear.👑💓

Not just larger than life, Freddie is larger than his death. Once again, the world is humbled at his talent.
On a lighter note.. I'm so glad Freddie was a good man. That power in the wrong person could have started a cult! But Freddie was about giving. He gave his genius to the world. He enjoyed with his audience and bandmates. The generosity shines through him - a beautiful man. R.I.P.

Three weeks ago tonight I watched Brian perform "Love of My Life" live. I sat in a sold out Bridgestone Arena in Nashville surrounded by people of all ages, thousands of us singing along with Brian and singing for Freddie. I don't think there was a dry eye in the house & it was a beautiful experience I'll never forget. Especially when Brian asks for more light to make some magic. It's already beautiful with people's cellphone lights dotted around like stars in the night sky. But when he asks that, everyone turns on their flashlight app, holds their phones up and the arena lights up in a truly magical way. Then that video plays of Freddie singing the last part. What a special communal moment. Wish you could've been there with us.
Thank you for this lovely tribute, from one Queen fan to another.💙
Edit: Here's 2 clips (just 30 seconds each) of that moment that Brian posted after 2 of the shows on this tour they just finished. There are also videos of the whole song that other people have posted, you should check some of them out. No video can really capture what it was like, but they give you an idea.

      @@65motowngirl
My youth was back in those days pre-cellphone. Went to concerts all the time. Stood right in front of Hendrix taking pics of him with my trusty Kodak 2 months before he died. Saw Zeppelin three times. I fondly remember seeing so many great artists in those days & I'm glad cellphones weren't around then. So I know what you mean.
But the experience I described, with Brian asking people to stop recording & turn their lights on instead was truly special in that moment & such a communal feeling. He mentioned how people used to hold their lighters up & asked for this in its place & specifically wanted people to stop recording, watch, listen & light up the arena to "make some magic", in his words. So we did. It really wasn't the typical thing of people fooling with their phones instead of being present, not during that part of the show. And I've loved Brian since Queen's first album was released in 1973 so was happy to follow his lead.
I've got a lot of special memories from those earlier days, but I've got to say this memory is just as special & I'll never forget it.💙
Don't know you but wish you'd been there. I think you would've enjoyed it. Btw, besides Classic Rock I also grew up on Motown so I like your username.
P.S. I was with my best friend I grew up with whom I hadn't seen in twenty years. We met in Nashville for this concert and to visit for a couple of days. She was with me at most of those concerts back when we were teenagers & here we were, all these years later, reuniting at another concert. Cellphones made it different in a way but there was that same old thrill of being with good friends & thousands of other people watching artists you love playing great music you love.
So it was special in so many ways, especially sharing it with my old & dear friend.

I was in Montreal, 1981, to witness this incredible group perform the BEST concert I've ever attended. I'll never forget those 2 hours of superb entertainment by Queen. They ARE THE BEST when it comes to involving the crowd. RIP Freddie. You are(were) great!!!. They are the only group to have all four members write #1 songs. Their voices were so in sync, along with the incredible playing of their instruments. Dr. May, omg, I fell in love with the man with those long flowing locks & his genius at playing his guitar as if he knew beforehand, what each sound would be before his licks. Roger & his incredible falsetto, Deacon bringing it with his incredible bass, and lastly, Freddie, owning each one of us, then and still now, almost 40 years after his passing. One of a kind forever!

Musical genius, incredible composer and song writer, unique character, real superstar, gone too soon just like another genius Michael Jackson... Do u know they sang together 3 songs? But never released...one of them was "There must be more to life than this" very unique and unforgetable duo. MJ bday is just a few days b4 Freddie, they were both Virgos-Dogs just 12 years apart. Both gone very too soon in tragic death😥😥😥 l cry for both of them, another great genius was George Michael he sang incredibly Freddie's song "Somebody to love" at the concert tribute for Freddie. He was so nervous and emossional singing it, but he did it sooo well..i dont think anybody would sing it better than George Michal... 3 great singers, icons, genius, all gone too soon, l guess thats the destiny of all genius... Freddie sings "Who wants to live together"... Im crying now coz l really wish that all those great guys should live forever and always bring this joy to ppl... Its so unfair. Music of 80's 90's was the best music of all times...there are no more such genius, real icons ,real artists like those guys... We have young generation totally lost in computer world, nothing is anymore pure and real like Freddie , MJ, George Michael and so many others of those times..RIP FREDDIE...AND MJ 😥😥💔💔

Thank you for the birthday tribute, and thank you for the tears.
He’s still so missed! Just imagine all of the music that he took with him.
Hopefully, he’s singing in Heaven to a huge audience?
    RIP, you wonderful, beloved man.

Wonderful.. I've been a fan of these guys since 1975 which I consider a decent innings as I was born in '71. RIP man.. even with your quiet humility and dismissiveness I'm sure you'd be pleased to know you're still thought of as the best.

Happy Birthday darling Freddie. this was a beautiful tribute. Why did he have to die. Ugh What a loss to this world but Heaven gained a beautiful Angel.

In one of the Queen documentaries that I've watched, I believe it was his manager who saw Freddie Mercury (before Queen was really big) in a bar looking a bit down and he asked Freddy what was wrong. And Freddy apparently put his hands to his head and said, "I'm not going to be a rockstar," and then stood up and said "I'm going to be a legend." And boy was he right. :)

Love Freddie so much. Wish he was still here ❤️ I would have got to see and hear him live last month if he was. But I'm still so happy I got to see Roger Taylor and Brian May!

I missed this! Was in Rhodes last week, but incredibly my hotel played Queen songs all day and we had a singalong with people from all over the World which felt very apt 😁 I share your joy and pain, even after all these years as you say. Freddie has never really gone, he left so much of himself for all of us to share, the moment any Queen song starts I feel the grin start, still, after 45 ish years. Beautiful man, beautiful music. Thank you so much for doing this (and also for choosing to play my favourite live version of Somebody to Love). Going to watch again now, this time hopefully with a little less sobbing 😥 Love you Freddie, Happy Birthday xxxxxx

Wonderful tribute to the most amazing, talented, emotional artist ever ...
Freddie you were tragically taken from us far too early but thank you for the superb range of work shared with us all ...
Sometimes wonder what other gems you would have given us ...
Feel privileged to have seen Queen live four times from mid seventies til late eighties.
As previously said, Freddie was the true Queen of England 💗
