- Which electric motocross bike is the best? SUR RON vs CAKE! I put the £10,000 Cake Kalk head to head against the £4500 Sur Ron Light bee to see which electric motocross bike is the best. which bike would you choose?
I put these electric motocross bikes to the test with trial style features, hill climbs, big jumps and a timed race section to find out which bike is more capable. The Cake Kalk is a £10,000 plus bike and the specs bring this bike out on top with its power output, but the fact this bike is heavier than the lighter Sur Ron bike could make for some interesting results. We start off with a warm up trial feature and see how easy it is to get over a huge fallen log, although my skills probably didn't help the fairness of this challenge so we move on to the head to head race against the clock! After this we head deeper into the woods to find huge hill climbs and sketchy jumps to flat. But most importantly I had the best time ever riding these super fun electric motorbikes for the day! And to finish the video off I show you my new quad bike modification that is absolutely sick! Which bike would you ride?

I just love how Sam just picks the hardest obstacle to hit first, no warm up and he just has so much confidence in falling back and stepping off like it's the most natural thing on earth. Just pure talent from years of experience. That was an epic match up comparison. Love the wheelie bars on the quad.

The Sur-Ron definitely looks like the more finished product, they've also got a great team of enthuasists around the world contributing their advice or suggestions to improve them, or even just modifying them and sharing the results.
The styling of Cakes bikes is around 50% of its selling point. It is a Swedish company and very much prides itself on its styling and technical details.
I would buy a surron but a lil pricey and here in cucked europe I would need a plate and probably pay some form of insurance too... and at that point I would say fuck them fucking feudal lords. Would be fun to use it to get to work or an alternative to my bicycle for harsh terrain.
The cake definitely doesn't look like a £10k bike, it looks more like someone built in their shed of of random bits of scrap metal.
The cake is by far the best looking bike on the market at the moment.

A nice addition to the comparison would be the Sur-Ron Storm Bee. I think that one, at least on paper, is closer to the performance of the Cake.

Love the electric bikes so much. When you jumped on the quad it just makes it so much more profound because even though you weren’t full out it was INCREDIBLY loud compared to the bikes.
Sam is just the Peter Pan of sending it! You cannot fake having that much fun. As the man said himself: epic.

The great thing on the Sur Ron, it is so customizable with 72v battery, TORP/KO controller, KO motor, great suspension options, different wheel setup's and the list goes on. You can have fun with the stock bike, but you can change what ever you want and what ever type of riding you wanna do. Love it !

By then you have spent the money of a cake. Just get the Ultra Bee it has everything you want right out the box.

@@CrossWindsPat A fully decked out Sur Ron smokes everything production, though. My issue with the super fast, aftermarket specced Sur Ron is the fact that it doesn't have the best componentry, like forks, bars, brakes, etc., so you'd really need to replace all of that, too. All in all, you can make the Sur Ron far better than the Cake and still spend less, but if you truly want to ultimate e-bike, you're at least 15k into a Sur Ron.

great comparison. I own a surron and love the light, no clutch, maneuverability. I can tackle crazier stuff and feel way more comfortable on it than my 250 enduro bike. electric is a whole nother level. wont replace my gas just yet but still sooooo much fun.

Back in the day my mate had a Suzuki 500 quad, I made a similar bar for it when he was learning to wheelie it, worked well and saved the backend.
Thing was a BEAST and would rip your arms off, I raced 2 stroke MX at the time but that quad was something else, the 2 stroke sound was awesome. 🙂

For myself for resume the both bikr it’s kinda equal, I would just say sur ron it’s a big ‘montain bike’ and for Cake it’s a little motocross

However the cake just looks like a first shot prototype.
Just spend a grand on a decent motor controller like a torp and the surron is on a new level... Plus there are seat height extenders, lower pegs and some (bmx style) riser bars and it even fits a 1.90m rider.

I feel like Sam should already have a 72v Lightspeed Battery or a BAC4000 on that Sur Ron.... He could also get a KO kit and make that thing feel like a 125cc dirt bike.
This is awesome. I was only just thinking the other day whether in the end is it better to get the Cake premade with a warranty etc or a Sur Ron and then upgrade every last part for thousands. Its not really a fair fight right now. You would need a modded Sur Ron at which point it would be more interesting. Litespeedbikes don't exist anymore btw.

The Z400 is the wheelie king, so easy to learn on that quad! The ebike are getting better. You should do another one with the light bee the stormbee and if ktm wants to join with stark varg that would be...epic👌😄

Careful of prolonged wheelies, the oil sits at the back of the sump the pickup doesn't always get enough. It's more a problem on the Raps, but seen these go pop too.

Now you need the 12k Drill One E-Moto and be repaired to have your mind blown! I sold both my SurRons and bought a Drill One after a test ride. It's so insane!
I had that same exact 400cc quad except it had the Kawasaki plastic from 2003. man i loved riding that thing and going on adventures in the woods.

The sur Ron is more eye appealing. And upgradeable. Smaller rear cog and mtb like. The Cake looks weird and box like the front end on the cake looks nice but again the rear cog is huge. The sur Ron to me is more appealing.

Couple people i know have sur-ron bikes, definitely the better option for messing around council estates with almost no noise compared to normal pit bikes people fly about on. Thers a bigger wattage one now too im shure

Some good observations really... What I like about the Surron, and I'm a bit bias cuz I own one, is the poachability (my own word). In other words the ability of Surron to adapt to its environment with out raising eyebrows. If I tooling around at 20kmh down a foot path and come across a dog walker they are less likely to be put out by the sight of the Surron.
maybe you could get your hands on the rieju e-mr or the stark varg .. both bikes are much more like Motocross bikes and have about 80 hp/ over 900 nm

If the Surron had the 72volt upgrade I think he’ll find he likes the Surron way more it’d basically be the same power just smaller and lighter unbeatable
And upgrade peak output at least at 8kW
It's actually alot more power than the cake when fully aftermarket specced.
Great vid Sam, I'm an EMTB rider. I'm riding my second build and done 2k km. Love ebikes.
The cake is at an automatic disadvantage because you use it first, and you gain more confidence and experience.

Sam needs to upgrade the SurRons speed control to a bac 8000. It really opens up the bike and makes it so much better

There is something u can do to the sur Ron to make it faster. I think it is either getting a new battery or tuning it to take off the speed limiter thing. U should do it then test them again

by the way, if you have the money you could invest in a new motorcontrollee, better battery, and new tires for the surron and than you habe the uuuullllttttiiimmaaatttteee funbike!!! faster, muuiuch more range = muuuchh more fun, but its not cheap…i think vor the strongest battery and best motorcontroller you pay around 3500 euro or even a bit more?!?

The choice is simple, the Sur Ron is E-bike money and you’re getting a lot of bang for your buck, the CAKE is £10,000 which you could buy an actual MX bike easily for which would totally kick its ass in every way. Let’s not forget the UK Laws as well with twist and go and E-bike top speed etc etc, both would have to be transported in a vehicle to somewhere you can ride it so you may as well just get the real version and buy a motorbike… plus for £10,000 I would not wanna be saying “yeah man the weekend was mental was out on the cake” it just sounds lame 😂
Brand new Honda CRF300 is about £6500! I’d much rather have that than that Cake.
you can literally buy the suron and buy a new sprocket for bigger top speed and then you can buy a ecu and upgraded batterys for less than waht the cake costs..
@@mindedchaos Sure but then you need better suspension and a new motor as well as a new wheelset, jackshaft for when it fails. Upgrade to a 420 primary. How long would the Sur Ron last compared to the Cake even then. The stock motors burn out pretty fast when they get abused and you get no warranty. Guys in the end spend more than the Cake on their Sur Rons.
@@HighVoltageKits this is true. I own a cake and the motor is more comprable to the KO motor than the stock ron. suspension is way better also and the bike is just overall larger. Its not super beefy tho and if your on a budget probs not the best buy.
