Remember the story That Mr. Miyagi told Daniel about his ancestor who went to China and came back with a wife and two kids and helped lay the foundation of Okinawan Karate
The passing of Mr miyagi is a major set bk of the karate 🥋 kid franchise. With Jackie chan entering the franchise hopefully it brings back the magic of the karate kid
I get the feeling we're going to see some Street Level action in Karate Kid: Legends. LFG!!!! I'm intrigued to see Li be introduced as the student to Daniel Larusso and Mr. Han. I can imagine if Mr. Han's student meets, Miguel, Robby, Sam, and the rest of Miyagi Do.
The Jackie Chan KK might have been a loose remake at the time of release but now it's been retconned to be part of the Miyagiverse as it's own story. As for Legends, the creators had in depth conversations with the creators of the Cobra Kai series to make sure everything fit together. Legends takes place 3 years after CK ends and is hitting theaters after the Part 3 of the CK final season for a reason. It's all part of the plan.
I always find it weird how some people say they are huge Fans of the Karate Kid Movies and Cobra Kai plus they love Mr. Miyagi but have not seen Karate Kid 4(The Next Karate Kid w/ Hilary Swank & Pat Morita) and then also forced themselves to see KK(2010) (The Kung Fu Kid w/ J. Chan & J. Smith) when the news of it becoming Canon was answered with Karate Kid: Legends(Said to take place 2-3 years after Cobra Kai). Some have only just seen Karate Kid 1 & 2 only!

yeah luckily in this one the new kid uses both Karate and Kung Fu, in fact the actor Ben Wang knows 4 martial arts, two of them which are Karate and Kung Fu
I was like you. I had no interest in a remake of my beloved Karate Kid. But after this trailer I was like, "Okay let me see what they cooked." Karate Kid 2010 is on Netflix till Dec 31. Where it's going after that I don't know. But I ended up watching it. While for the most part it is a beat for beat retelling of the Original. It brought a modern day kid with modern day problems into the mix and instead of moving to the coast he moved to China. HUGE culture shock for Dre. I really liked what they did with the film. They focused a lot on Han's past and journey as well. So it is definitely worth the watch and I can't WAIT to see how they marinate these two branches into one universe. Holy shit! If you had told me 40 years ago that there would be a Karate Kid Cinematic Universe I would have been like, "What's a Cinematic Universe?" lol
I think it looks really good. It was interesting how they tied the two universes together into one, and that started when Daniel when back to Okinawa and remembered that Miyagi's karate came from China after his ancestor was drunk and fell asleep in a fishing boat and woke up off the coast of China, and then came back to Okinawa after 10 years and taught his knowledge of karate. Where he learned of that karate could have come from same knowledge of the Jackie Chan universe, tying them both together now.
The 2010 film is good. People started hating on it because they hate Jaden Smith and especially after Cobra Kai came out. But the movie is beautiful. The music is beautiful, it is shot wonderfully, and the bullying in the movie is more believable because the kid is younger than Daniel, plus it's another country. It really is a wonderful movie and it gets a bad rap.
@@mattsands161 Yeah, I agree. And I will even go As far as to say that the scene where Mr. Han rescues Dre from the school bullies is so much better than the original film (where Mr. Miyagi kicks the skeleton pajama-clad Cobra Kais in the nuts) that it's ridiculous. Jackie Chan also did a very good job in the emotional parts of the story, too. It really is a beautiful film. It's just that after Cobra Kai came out, people really started attacking it as being "unnecessary" because Cobra Kai was seen as the "real sequel." But I would say that viewed on its own, without Cobra Kai, it's pretty much the perfect remake.

As silly as it is that both movies are the exact same story, you can have fun with it by going Meta and make a reference and joke in this new movie. Or take it serious and have some Chinese legend that states that storys repeat themselves for a new generation.
karate kid legends will take place 3 years after Sekai Taikai. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Karate Kid Legends, the director Jonathan Entwistle explained how the film relates to the world of Cobra Kai. 🥋🐍
I do recommend watching the 2010 karate kid its sort of soft remake set in the karate kid universe with completely new original different characters. It’s great movie in its own right. 👍🏻
The scene with the kid in the taxi............ that was shot in Montreal this summer. Many other scenes as well were shot here, they stayed a few weeks.
Everyone always hates on the Jaden Smith Karate Kid because it was almost an exact remake of the original Karate Kid. Hence why they say "it's not canon" or that this movie is a separate timeline From the way I interpret things: the story of a bullied kid learning martial arts from someone unexpected is just *the* general story structure that can be applied to any setting in this universe, whether it's Daniel and Miyagi, Dre and Han, Miguel and Johnny. Was KK 2010 almost exactly like KK 1984? Sure. But it doesn't matter, because the world is big, similar stories and events are allowed to happen in their own pockets of the globe, and we can suspend our disbelief for the sake of universe building. And another argument was "oh but Jackie Chan was mentioned in S1 of Cobra Kai" which is also ridiculous, because many times in other media have actors who play a role in the universe have directly been mentioned by another character. I think people just hate KK 2010 for no reason.
Don't miss the 2010 karate kid. I mean not gonna lie it's basically almost an exact copy of the original film from the 80s but with kung Fu in a Chinese setting but I had a lot of fun with it.
Brother for no good reason I had wanted to hate on the 2010 movie. That weird coming-of-age period for Jaden, balanced with a genre legend and martial artist Jackie Chan, and the usage of “Karate” in what was more “Kung Fu.” But when I watched it, I was actually surprised. You should watch it. Maybe get your reaction video on in here too. This trailer got me thinking a lot about the MIyagiverse. Great vid, more power!
Pat Morita from east Asia? You mean all the way from Fairfield californians Armijo High School. His character was also Asian American. A decorated war veteran in fact. Love the Asian AMERICAN influence of the movie. Asian doesn't equal foreign.
S5 and S6 was too "teen drama" to me, and CK strayed from the point of the show: a wash up Karate Guy seeking to redeem his training in the art of Cobra Kai Karate.
I love all the original Karate Kid movies even the Jackie Chan remake (which is a frame for frame remake of the original) and I like cobra Kai regardless of how ridiculous it is. So I’ll go watch this when it comes out.
So to dump both IRL and KK-verse lore as both a Karateka and Karate Kid/Cobra Kai fan, Kung Fu and Karate are actually very closely related. The first reboot film doesn’t cover it at all and was all Kung Fu, but Karate Kid II and Cobra Kai Season 3 had Mr. Miyagi and Chozen respectively reference it and it looks like this film will too. Hence “two branches, one tree”. Okinawa, or the Ryukyu Kingdom before it was colonized by Japan, is an island separate from the mainland that’s also near China. Historically, many of the old Karate masters traveled to China to study and train in Chinese martial arts along with their native arts. IRL, the founder of Goju-Ryu, one of the major Karate styles today, was founded by Okinawan Master Chojun Miyagi, who trained in White Crane Kung Fu in his travels to China. Robert Mark Kamen, the OG writer and creator of the KK films as you know, trained in Goju-Ryu and named Mr. Miyagi after its founder. Meanwhile, in KK2 and CK S3, we’re told Mr. Miyagi’s ancestor, Shimpo Miyagi, wound up in China and came back to Okinawa with a wife, kids, and martial arts. The popular theory now is that Shimpo Miyagi’s wife came from the same family that Mr. Han descends from, or at least Shimpo trained under the same lineage that lead to Mr. Han. I think it’s possible Mr. Miyagi also went to China for a while to retrace those steps. Similarly, Cobra Kai actually covers the real life fact that CK the style is based on Tang Soo Do, a Korean martial art that’s called “Korean Karate” because it was heavily influenced by Japanese Karate. Definitely recommending out Jesse Enkamp’s TH-cam channel. He has videos on White Crane Kung Fu and Tang Soo Do, and how both relate to Karate. Also, he did make 1 Cobra Kai video specifically criticizing some historical accuracy lol.
i'm personally not a fan of combining the original with the reboot but we'll see and the 2010 Jackie Chan one is basically Kung fu kid and it takes a lot of stuff from the original.
My only gripe with that movie was Jaden Smith’s acting and also the title of the movie. I get that it was for brand recognition but they should’ve named it Karate Kid: The Art of Kung Fu or something.
Awesome to see SW Theory react to the trailer. As a fan of the 2010 Jaden Smith Karate Kid movie, i'm happy to see Jackie Chan's character return and connect with the official Karate Kid universe. Also the new asian lead is completely new. He wasn't in the 2010 movie. He looked awesome in this trailer though.
I'm not liking the Miyagi house looking like it did from the first movie, what happened to the water pond? EDIT: I take it back, i looked at the shot where Daniel looks at Mr. Han and it looks like it could still be there.
While the trailer doesn't initially make it look like a complete dumpster-fire, it STILL feels wrong to call this "Karate Kid: L.E.G.E.N.D.S", and NOT having Johnny in there. And I honestly think the studio is OVER_estimating what big of a pull Ralph Machhio will actually have for this film (sorry to say) I don't think I've heard ONE person ever say, that they like Daniel more than Johnny, lol. Once you go Johnny Lawrence, you shouldn't go back to JUST Daniel again! And no matter what, this movie will NEVER feel fully ORGANIC, when wanting to tie in with the TRUE Miyagi-verse. These universe's were never meant to co-exist. Robby even mentions Jackie Chan in Season 1 of Cobra Kai, lol! Sony only sees money, and they don't give two squirts of urine about the fans = TRUTH. They just wanna piggy-back off of Cobra Kai's success. It's also very clearly felt in recent interviews, that the Cobra Kai creators did NOT want this to happen, but they have to "play along". There's a reason why they hailed their universe "The Miyagi-verse", for 5 straight f'ing years! Ralph did the same - but apparently money talks (shocker) "Only those movies, that actually has Miyagi in them, are canon to our universe, which includes Hilary Swanks's film. The Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan movie is its own thing" = Quote from all three Cobra Kai creators. It feels so dumb, weird and disrespectful to start promoting this movie, BEFORE Cobra Kai has even had a chance to finish its run! ALL focus SHOULD be on promoting PART 3 of Season 6 right now, and not this film. We should be celebrating 40 years of the Miyagi-verse here, which concludes with the final part of Season 6, before promoting anything else. The new Sony-flick is even said to be taking place 3 years AFTER the events of PART 3, coming in february.. No wonder fans a confused. Sony doesn't care though. They fast-tracked this movie like wild-fire, and it's directed by a man who's only done cartoons up till this point. Fingers crossed though! I ain't hoping for this film to fail (I gain nothing from that) but I don't trust SONY one bit.
according to the timeline, this film is set 3 years after cobra kai, it will be interesting to see if there are any tie-ins, to the series, johnny or even any one of the larussos, particularly amanda, i mean, danial has to tell his wife hes going to china right, unless because of all this karate shit causes them to divorce by the time legends comes out
Perfect opportunity to do a watch party with the Jackie Chan film. I’m thrilled for this movie. Can’t wait. The Jayden Smith movie was OK, just not a viable “remake” which is what I think is what they were going for, but now it’s part of the Miyagi-verse, so now it works great.
Some sources supposedly lied about Jackie Chan being as important to the main plot as Daniel and the new kid in training other information out there about the movie itself says otherwise that he won't be in the movie as much, but for now take this as rumors. As for fans of the more recent Karate Kid they want to see Jaden Smith make an appearance.
Surprised you never watched the newer karate kid but it was actually really good. And its a different take so you wont feel like youre just watching a remake
This movie looks awesome I’m looking forward to seeing it I’m so happy Ralph got a star in Hollywood he deserves it, and his star is right next to pat morita ❤😊 🎄❤️🌹🥰
The tone wasn’t the problem it’s the focus Whole point of cobra Kai is that we see Johnny as the lead an his pov of the karate kid universe That changed when they started to focus more on miyagi am Daniel an they sidelined Johnny
No you were right about KK 2010 being a remake, it's just that now they're deciding to add the 2010 version to the miyagi-verse which some of us fans are not happy about this new installment will take place 3yrs after the ending of Cobra Kai
May I ask? What are your thoughts on cobra, Kai season six part two, I don't know if this is why you haven't posted a review on it. But imo season 6 as a whole is probably the biggest drop in quality this show has seen. I think a lot of the plot lines are dumb and they are just writing stuff based of feelings and to get hype moments, rather than stuff that benefits the characters. I think it's honestly very disappointing the show has fallen off this hard and given leaks for part three I think its gonna be my least favorite season by far. It's very disappointing, considering I love the first 4 and even 5th seasons of this show. Oh yeah and the 2010 karate kid movie is really good.Except for the fact that it should be called the Kung fu kid. And i'm personally not a huge fan of jaden smith, but aside from that, the story is very good.
Do a reaction to the Jaden smith version. Its not as bad as it seeems and since its Jackie Chan in china and not Early hollywood action the action holds up real well
I have to disagree Cobra Kai has only gotten better as we go on. Though yeah it has a lot of out of experience and goofier moments the father the show goes along. But Season Five had some high ass stakes and in my opinion was the best season of the show next to season one and two. Season Six Part One is indeed feels least serious of the show. But look they weren't being threatened at home anymore. The Valley was at peace but now. It wont be, Part Two bounced back the serious tone. Its keeping it course I do hope all characters and even smaller characters get their shine in the last part. But for most of them the story wont be over. But seriously two people have died in the last season how is it not the most serious one??. Hyped for Karate Kid Legends. Watch The Next Karate Kid and Karate Kid 2010 as well.
Definitely watch Karate Kid 2010. There is the age old elephant in the room of Kung Fu vs Karate. Then there is Tae Kwon Do, Capoeira, Kalaripayattu, Silambam, Muay Thai, etc. Of course they took advantage of the "Karate Kid" brand, it would be stupid not to. It appears that Legends may try to take the principles from the arts and form something better. However, I wouldn't want them to call it "MMA Kid" or "Jeet Kune Do Kid". The 2010 movie does have its corny moments but at the core is a story based on the hero's journey.
I hope this movie won't have some sort of forced/contrived plot to justify Mr. Han and Mr. Myiagi co-existing. _Especially_ since it wouldn't be necessary. We know that historically speaking, karate as we know of was came to be when Chinese traders visited Okinawa and taught the locals kenpo and kung fu, whereupon elements of these arts was adapted and combined with the indigenous style of martial arts known as "te", meaning "hand". This was in the 15th and 16th century. We also hear about the 17th century fisherman Shimpo Myiagi in Karate Kid II, who brought the secret of Myiagi-Do Karate to Okinawa from China. (Ref: th-cam.com/video/2iNcTGoZMMY/w-d-xo.html). How _easy_ wouldn't it be to say that Shimpo Sensei simply learned kung fu from an ancestor of Mr. Han, (his wife might even have been a Han by birth), and that the Myiagi-Do family karate has its origins in the Han family kung fu, and that there might be this multi-generational friendship between the two families ever since? Heck, maybe there's been multiple Han-Myiagi marriages over the centuries? And even if there were no inter-marriage, what exactly prevents these families from having stayed in touch and visited one another as a multi-generational friendship, and that Mr. Myiagi and Mr. Han might know (or know of) one another for this reason. Maybe all the parallels between Mr. Han and Mr. Myiagi's experiences with Daniel and Dre respectively is because Mr. Myiagi helped Mr. Han find some _semblance_ of balance after his wife and son died, (to the point of functioning in a job/fixing and wrecking the car as a sort of coping mechanism, etc.), and Mr. Han instinctively sought to emulate his teaching methods when he got a student himself? Boom - two branches, one tree. Myiagi family karate and Han family kung fu. "Kung fu lives in everything we do. It lives in how we put on a jacket. How we take off a jacket, and in how we treat people". Can one really imagine Myiagi having much of a different attitude to karate?
Now the ultimate thing would Would be to have Hillary's Swankin for a quick Cameo Showing mystery of Miyagi's other student and or if she started her own school
ppl would love the remake way better if they just named it kung fu kid. The acting and writing is way better than the OG and id say the fighting scenes are even better than most of the fights from cobra kai
Ahhh I got it right. That movie is not playing 3 years after CK😂 that's a trick! It must been between kk2010 and CK. Did you notice any smartphone in the trailer 😅? Not one! Daniel looks so young and the miyagi house looks like in kk3!!!! Everything looks old. It's a bridge between the karate kid movies and j.chans movie !!!!! But Mr Han could show up in the CK finale and in the movie we see how they met!!!!!
This looks exactly like something that would come out of e cobra Kai show. Only complaint I’ve heard so far over the trailer is that the lead kid is Chinese lmfao. That’s their complaint 😂
It's looking great the new kid is new he wasn't in Jackie Chans karate kid that was Jaden Smith don't be surprised if Jaden shows up in a Cameo Mr Han looks like he has gone up in the world as before he was just like Mr Miyagi an apartment janitor but I don't think we will see Johnny Lawrence in this one but I'm also looking forward to Feb 2025 but it's looking promising
I will always love the first 5 seasons of Cobra Kai, but Season 6 has been a mess. I expect that this movie will get the franchise back on the right track. It looks really good.
Absolutely sick to make a movie called Karate Kid and be all about Kung Fu. While I thought the 2010 one was actually not that bad of movie, the title of the movie is just insulting on many levels. I also feel like we never see Karate anymore in movies, usually always Kung Fu. Unrelated, I also find Jackie Chan, Danny Yen kind of pathetic for not supporting Hong Kong. They make all of these movies about defending the little guys from the big guys, but in reality, just weak men that never defend their home country of HK vs the CCP.
The Jaden Smith one gets alot of crap, but tbh, its not that bad, its quite enjoyable imo. I think people were just a little upset, because it was a Remake of the original, pretty much ignoring all the og character. Its kinda its own thing, give it a watch Theory, open minded, dont expect craziness, but its a good kids movie!
If you also didn't catch it, the drum they used sounded like the hand drum they used in Karate Kid 2.
Also noticed that. Took me a few watched before I did but as I started paying attention I realized that.
Remember the story That Mr. Miyagi told Daniel about his ancestor who went to China and came back with a wife and two kids and helped lay the foundation of Okinawan Karate

Just did my reaction! Yo im so hype for this miyagi verse!
i'm personally not a fan of combining the original with the reboot but we'll see and the 2010 Jackie Chan one is basically Kung fu kid and it takes a lot of stuff from the original.
And I have something to say I’m a huge karate kid fan since it first came out in the 80s with Ralph ❤😊
Nice reaction! Film looks great in my opinion.
I'm not liking the Miyagi house looking like it did from the first movie, what happened to the water pond?
EDIT: I take it back, i looked at the shot where Daniel looks at Mr. Han and it looks like it could still be there.
When watching the first Mr. Han shot by shot remake my biggest objection was instead of 16 year olds the boys were 11 and fighting over a girl.
The "remake" is really good!
I ain't hoping for this film to fail (I gain nothing from that) but I don't trust SONY one bit.
according to the timeline, this film is set 3 years after cobra kai, it will be interesting to see if there are any tie-ins, to the series, johnny or even any one of the larussos, particularly amanda, i mean, danial has to tell his wife hes going to china right, unless because of all this karate shit causes them to divorce by the time legends comes out
wonder if daniel and mr han have a spar in this movie will be very cool to show their 2 different styles
I'm crazy hype for this... I liked all the karate kid movies
Im curious if Sony will retitle the 2010 movie as Karake Kid: The Way of Kung Fu
Looking forward to the Cobra Kai review!
If yall don’t know this takes place 2-3 years after cobra Kai season 6. So Miguel and them are in college
The tone wasn’t the problem it’s the focus
Whole point of cobra Kai is that we see Johnny as the lead an his pov of the karate kid universe
That changed when they started to focus more on miyagi am Daniel an they sidelined Johnny
No you were right about KK 2010 being a remake, it's just that now they're deciding to add the 2010 version to the miyagi-verse which some of us fans are not happy about this new installment will take place 3yrs after the ending of Cobra Kai
The kid is a newcomer and has nothing to do with the 2010 version.
So like are we gonna see a theory reaction video to the Jackie and Jaden karate kid movie or what. Cause yes please
When did bro have a cobra kai channel?
Ur literally on it
I'm down, this looks good!
the movie should focus on Daniel fighting in a tournament defending his title
Do a watch-party or reaction video to you watching The Karate Kid 2010!
You are correct. Remakes of Karate Kid no good, this one feels like a continuation
The 2010 karate kid is my favorite Jaden smith was amazing
Pls react to karate kid 2010 it was really good can't wait for you to react to that 😊
cant wait it looks Awesome
I wish I knew a little more about the story. The kid is already trained by JC but JC needs miyagis student help
Brother. Pat Morita isnt from Eastern asia. Hes from America and was a PACKER fan
Bruh if u don't post a reaction to the movie I'd be so surprised. Do a patreon!
Not a karate kid fan at all but this actually looks really good
He should do a reaction to the Jaden and Jackie one
For honor 🥷⛩️🥋🙇♂️
I think the movie is going to be epic
Do a review of jadens smiths one thefighting is amazing
So we now know that something happens after part three of Cobra Kai and it leads into this karate kid Legends
Now the ultimate thing would Would be to have Hillary's Swankin for a quick Cameo Showing mystery of Miyagi's other student and or if she started her own school
Watch YELLOW JACKETS instead.
ppl would love the remake way better if they just named it kung fu kid. The acting and writing is way better than the OG and id say the fighting scenes are even better than most of the fights from cobra kai
The movie take place 3 years after cobra Kai seaosn 6 part 3
No Chozen?
Do a movie reaction to the Jackie Chan karate kid movie? Or at least a review of it
I the only ones i would mention is Karate kid 1, 2, & 3, and the next karate kid
Chills
It's looking great the new kid is new he wasn't in Jackie Chans karate kid that was Jaden Smith don't be surprised if Jaden shows up in a Cameo Mr Han looks like he has gone up in the world as before he was just like Mr Miyagi an apartment janitor but I don't think we will see Johnny Lawrence in this one but I'm also looking forward to Feb 2025 but it's looking promising
I love cobra Kai but it is pretty nice to see karate kid with production value again. 😂
I will always love the first 5 seasons of Cobra Kai, but Season 6 has been a mess. I expect that this movie will get the franchise back on the right track. It looks really good.
Man you look a lot like that Star Wars guy you know that
Absolutely sick to make a movie called Karate Kid and be all about Kung Fu.
