Okay. I am a classicist (someone who studies the ancient world of Greece and Rome) and a philologist. One of my amateur interests is the Balkans, and how they intersect with various historical events, but I'm most interested in why certain nations are perceived in such negative way - when (in your case especially) - they should be perceived much more positively. I've been to your part of the world many times. And I can confidently say that I am a friend. I find the Serbs incredibly generous, welcoming, hospitable, and decent. So take my advice in the best way it is meant. Absolutely no one, and I mean almost literally not a single other person, who is not from your part of the world, cares about Serbian war battles, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Turks, or some esoteric achievement of some Serbian sports team. We care about human suffering, and we would all be impressed by your story of perseverance and courage - but you have to tell a different story. The majority of people in the west, and especially the anglo-american, English-speaking West, have overcome fascination or interest in any kind of traditionally masculine competitive type enterprise, especially war, as a demonstration of any kind of accomplishment or ability. The only exception to that is acts of heroism in saving people from brutal abuse, such as for example, you could emphasize the heroic fight by the Serbs against the Nazis, the part that the Serbs played in resisting and opposing the Nazi genocide, and the incredible suffering the Serbian people went through during the Ottomans or the Nazis. In other words, and I understand this, because I understand your mentality, "Who says such lies that Serbia is small - it's hardly small - it fought three wars" - you have been taught that the expression of your pride in your nation, is your ability NOT to be a victim; the last thing you want to do is make yourself seem small, powerless, or weak. But what I'm trying to tell you, is that in the present moment in the west, this lands really badly. The United States can kick anybody's ass. We don't like stories of strength; we like stories of love and humanity. So what you actually want to say is something less peacocky, and something more humane - you want to tell a Western audience about the suffering of the Serbian people rather than about the war battles. Tell us instead, about mother, as Tito used to do, and how the Serbian mother would stand at her doorstep hoping that one day she would see her child the Ottomans stole. Tell us about the elderly people killed by the Ustasha. Tell us about how the Serbian people were 90% illiterate because of the Ottoman treatment that forbade you to learn to read and write. That's a story everyone will like. Gavrilo Princip and Prince Marko is not. The strongest position in most human societies is not the alpha male king with an army - it is the righteous victim. There is a reason people worship Jesus. Ghandi took down the British Empire in rags. Martin Luther King Jr. ended centuries of brutal oppression against black people in the USA without ever firing a shot. The Church has had only one story - of an innocent gentle man crucified unjustly - and look at the power it has wielded over the centuries. Every brute and chimpanzee can kill people. What inspires humans is the story of those who don't. I'm not sure how many people actually read "Bridge on the Drina" by Ivo Andrich. You really should. He is exactly how you should tell your stories. That is an absolutely magnificent book. Comparing that to the trash by Frane Tudjman or even worse, "1400 Years of Bosnian Navy" by Enver Imamovic - and you will definitely understand what I mean.
@milos barbaric: wtf has what you just wrote with anything pertaining to this video? no one cares - you just come off as a weirdo - which i guess ultimately you are - but anyhow and once again - nobody cares you f'n freak
@@dt6822 The point is that we were fighting for our Freedom... not just that we won battles and wars, which we did. And under the Tito Regime, it was Prohibited to talk about the Croatian Ustashe genocide against the Serbs!!! Tito was directly or indirectly Responsible for Many Atrocities perpetrated Against the Serbs, in continuity! He also Forbade the Hundreds of Thousands of Serb refugees to return to their ancestral lands in Kosovo and Metohija, after WWII😱- thus enabling the Albanians to populate it en masse and begin yet another ethnic cleansing and genocide of the Serbs, decades later... in the Serbs own ancestral lands!😭 So, I too, wish we could tell the Full history...

The point is that we were fighting for our Freedom... not just that we won battles and wars, which we did.
And under the Tito Regime, it was Prohibited to talk about the Croatian Ustashe genocide against the Serbs!!!
Tito was directly or indirectly Responsible for Many Atrocities perpetrated Against the Serbs, in continuity!
He also Forbade the Hundreds of Thousands of Serb refugees to return to their ancestral lands in Kosovo and Metohija, after WWII😱- thus enabling the Albanians to populate it en masse and begin yet another ethnic cleansing and genocide of the Serbs, decades later... in the Serbs own ancestral lands!😭
So, I too, wish we could tell the Full history...
