♿️I hope you enjoy this little completion of wheelchair customisation ideas. Please note, some prices are an approximate guid. Also the Newton Backpack isn’t currently available on the Motion Composite website, but may be available though other retailers.
Love this video! Just a tip for the Grippoz, I have the same ones and run some extra strong double sided carpet tape on my push rims and that keeps them stuck on like a treat. if you do ever want to take them off, just peel the tape off and a bit of alcohol gets rid of any stickiness. I used to cut my hand on the zipties allll the time
I'll be swapping out my wheelchair for a brand new fixed frame this week! With my new chair I'll be getting rim covers and spoke glow-in-the-dark stars! My chair has always been glow color and my new one will be too. During the day it looks a glowy white, and at night it glows bright white! So my wheels will match😁
I love my grippoz! It's a shame they're not available anymore. Mine are a highlighter orange and it just makes my wheelchair so much more fun. I'm a part-time wheelchair user, but I've found them so handy.
I've been able to find some great things in the bike section. I've got a cupholder that is perfect...velcro and adjustable. And I also use the bike lights but use a headlamp too as I find I need a higher light so cars can see me better. My family still want to buy me an orange flag on the bag but er.. no thanks. I've got good use out of the skiphop diaper bags. They have clips I can put over the armrest of my chair and have it hang on the side. Also different sizes fun prints and lots of pockets.
Also bags and drink holders for prams often work on wheelchairs and are a hell of a lot cheaper n nicer too!! My favourite wheelchair rucksack is one that goes with a pram. I had to beg the lady in the shop to sell it to me separately, but bless her she did 🤫
I love my Caddy luggage holders that’s fitted on the front of my chair just above my feet. Perfect for larger shopping baskets that you can’t have on your lap, or for when you’re traveling and need to haul luggage around on your own as it changes how you haul your luggage or how much you can even bring and what type of bag you use. Absolute game changer to have the luggage holders! I also really like my StimuLITE Contoured XS cushion because it comes with a bag on the cushion cover itself and the bag is perfect for your phone, wallet, keys and a small pack of medicines, be it medicines in original package or in a small organizer. Another bonus with the cushion is that it’s very airy so it doesn’t look or feel like you’ve peed your pants even on a hot summer day! Can also highly recommend looking into Surge push rims, they’re awesome even though they seem to get a bit slippery with time, but maybe a good wiping off would solve that tbh. My favorite backpack is definitely my wheelchair backpack from Panthera Wheelchairs which is also the maker of my chair. Their backpack is especially designed for fitting well on a wheelchair all while being comfortable to wear as a normal backpack. It has a laptop compartment that can hold a laptop up to 13.1” if I remember it right, and two larger compartments out of which one with some smaller pockets in it for pens and other little bits and bobs. It also has a special discrete compartment for catheters which you reach easily through a zipper on the side of the bag closest to your back or backrest, and on the other side there’s another zipper to a smaller compartment for your phone and wallet. You can’t really tell the catheter or wallet compartments are there unless you know about them because of how discrete they are and their placement on the bag. Of course you don’t have to put catheters in the catheter area, if you don’t use catheters you just have another area for random stuff lol The bag is pretty small, but fits way more than you’d think!
Hi Gem - I bought two Pickepackes on your recommendation, and they are a real asset! I have the small one, and the bigger one with inner pockets. I bought a large bag which fits under the seat of my wheelchair, which is great for holding bits of shopping, but hubby found that it gets in the way when he folds my chair to put in the car boot. The Pickepackes don't cause any problems though..
I have the large one with inner compartiments and the large one without because they sended the wrong order but I could keep the one without inner compartiments, so now I have both. But I mostly use the one with inner compartiments
This is so helpful! Thank you! My wheelchair is cheap and sucks but it's getting better the more I make it my own. I've removed about 2kg of weight by removing the arm rests because they were just getting in the way, put on some new pushrims (I took off the metally silver ones it came with and put on some black plastic ones, the new ones are nice and thick with some nice finger grooves), and I've attached a bum bag under the seat. I do want a cushion but they are just too expensive. I definitely want some spoke covers now though!
I do not have a wheelchair. But i love watching your videos anyway. I love your aditude. And even if your and my situation are a little different. (i have a invisable disability) You always give me strength. Times are now a little rough. All my friends a getting drivinglicences and i'll probably wouldnt be able to make one. But your positivity makes me smile.
I was just wanting to look through your vids to one the one on the ffora bags! Perfect timing 👌 Starting work in new Hospital and going to hopefully treat myself to the active bag for essentials when I'm on call! My Kushall K comes with a great little bag that clips in at the front under the seat, like the bum bag (fanny pack tehe) but I also need more space for stuff on call or just always, lol! So many wheelchair bags are gross, so I like the Ffora brand actually realise style is valued :-) You can get front caster wheels that light up as you wheel, had them when I worked at children's hospital, kiddos loved them!!
My chair is blue and the new chair I’m getting will be either purple or blue. I also have an underseat bag/basket. I can store my charger in there and it also gives me solace to put my purse under my seat like a shelf. I have cup holder that attaches to the other armrest. I use a backpack when we go to flea markets. I also have an adapter that plugs in where the charger goes and now I have a usb port and can charge my phone. I am a part time power wheelchair cause I can’t walk very far.
I bought some lights for mine that go around the hub in the middle of the wheels. Mainly for safety at night, but they do have different modes and colour settings that mean you can show off a bit.
Love this video. Just reated myself tona Fflora cup holder and cup cant wait to get it. I have captain America spoke guards on my chair and I always get compliments .
Velcro buggy clips & elasticated spring cord for radar key. Great for powerchairs that don't have anywhere to put a bag. As my power chair has no handle bars, no leg rests and no space underneath. lol
This is a great video. Using your advice, I recently bought the Ffora Active Bag in black and the cup holder. I couldn’t get Grippoz (maybe due to Covid-19?), so I bought some hot pink grips from another company. Then I personalised my chair with decal stickers!
gem one of my useful customisation is a pair of small lightweight rechargeable led bike lights red and white I have them on my wlking stick when my wife is crossing a road I rotate my stick towards the flow of traffic driver quick on the uptake realize I want to cross an give way. also they are useful transfering from a car turn on when you put your stick out of the car as you transfer in a car park drivers give way the white light is useful for getting around in the dark and they are only aroun £ 15>00 and have many uses you can even put on a wheelchair Also I customise my chair with white reflective letters for easir visibility and identification and a few adhesive reflectors better for winter nights in car parks glow in thdark adhesive tape can be quite spooky to on a wheelchair especially at halloween
I have the pickepacke and push rim grippos but got mine from amozon and hoping to order the bottle holder soon brought all these thanks to your channel makes life so much easier so thank you
I wish I'd known about the push rim covers before the company went belly up, they look like a great thing...oh well, I'll just have to stick to my bike gloves for now...as for "pimping my ride", the only thing I have done is add "Spokie-Dokes" on my spokes. It started as a bit of a joke, and a way for uprights to hear me coming, especially the meandering crowds in shopping centres, but if my son is with me, he will push me and as he is a rather long-legged individual, the centrifugal force created by his stride tends to cancel out the effect... I tend to stick with a bog standard back pack, and I wear my handbag (long-strap, cross-body style) around my waist when in the chair. I also have anything that I'm likely to drop - phone, keys, wallet, etc - on lanyards, attached to my handbag strap...it seems to work for me anyway...
Thanks for the very helpful video. I have noticed that on your wheelchairs you have little brackets on the back supports for handles that turn inwards and flat against your backrest. Is this a retro-fit or specific to your chair and are they strong enough when needing help over thresholds etc.,? I think it would be great for portability and I get people I don't even know leaning on my handles (even when folded down) to have conversations with other groups of people behind my back, basically pinning me in place. (Grrrr!) Do you experience that at all?
I seriously need that cup holder and that Fora bag. Those two would be life changing! I hate having to squish things between by thighs to hold onto them XD
Oh yay!!! I am going to check that out! Thank you again for everything you do. You have gotten me through this crazy new world! Next week my new chair comes and I can’t wait!
Been trying to get latex free push rim grips every time I order some on amazon they take my money and then claim they are out of stock where did you get yours from
My chair came with wheel grip sprayed on the rims because I have trouble gripping anyways. Insurance covers it, but otherwise it's $100 dollars. It works well, but is not pretty. The covers are honestly a great price on comparison since they can come off, and the colors can be anything (the only option through the wheelchair company is black), and the covers don't wear. The grip through the company gets dinged up and wears away, and always feels sticky!
This was awesome! I get this is irrelevant from the video but do you have any ideas to getting over the anxiety of feeling like a burden for needing a wheelchair? Thank you, I love your channel
I have just got my first chair and want to make it look sexier however I am having a lot of trouble finding the things I want like Grippoz.....cannot seem to find them 😕
I really do need a motorized wheelchair or scooter. I need some independence in my life. My disabilities and limitations is interfering with my daily activities and I've been like a prisoner because of my disabilities and limitations. I really need a motorized wheelchair or scooter with a basket. I've been praying and praying and praying.

Neat video, none of these ideas work for my power chair, but I do have an older manual wheelchair as well.
What are those pink things over your wheelchair? And where did you get them😂
I just love your dog in all the videos, stretching out on the sofa. So sweet!
Love this video! Just a tip for the Grippoz, I have the same ones and run some extra strong double sided carpet tape on my push rims and that keeps them stuck on like a treat. if you do ever want to take them off, just peel the tape off and a bit of alcohol gets rid of any stickiness. Yeah it is a shame. I think the guy had a few different companies. Love the orange too. X
Got my grippoz because of your video. I love them. My insurance has finally agreed to pay for a custom chair! Perfect time for this video!
I Love your ideas!❤
From Ohio, U.S. A.

The bike section is a great idea! I never thought of that. Thanks for the idea!

I feel the same way about the flag. Um, no.
Excellent video Gem thank you. Loved the Pickepacke bags so much I ordered one for my wheelchair!

I have a net that goes under my chair (“wheelchair catch all” I think?) and I shove my purse and everything under there. It’s extra convenient
The rucksack on the back is a cool and very useful idea..thanks for sharing it!
I am getting my first real wheelchair tomorrow and I am going to get some push rim covers like yours... only not pink.
The pickepacke is my absolute favourite! and their customer service is amazing
Ah so glad your happy with it, what size do you have?
I have the large one with inner compartiments and the large one without because they sended the wrong order but I could keep the one without inner compartiments, so now I have both. But I mostly use the one with inner compartiments
Emmely Hullebusch ah yeah defo the best one IMHO x

I have push rims from Reha Design - they look very similar to yours in that they're silicone and come in lots of very bright colours!
I love your singing
Hey Gem, loving your videos. Im desperate for a backpack for my wheelchair (new wheelchair user) where can I get the newton from in the UK?

Ahhh so pleased!!! X
Gem how are you pulling your blue wheely suitcase behind your chair in that video!?! Have you attached it to the bar some how or is it special one?
Going back to your push rim covers, I'm thinking of using cycling bar tape, I just can't a reel long enough :(
I so want the Ffora bags and accessories but they don't ship to us down under in New Zealand- yet fingers crossed!
You crack me up! :D

Love the rims but the cable ties will cut you at some stage, thinking of something similar
Can you do a version of this video for those who use power chairs.
keep safe and happy xx
Love all of these ideas and have been on the hunt for rim covers!!! If I find anything I will share with you!!
Thank you so much. @adapttoperform has just reviewd some rib grips
Oh yay!!! I am going to check that out! Thank you again for everything you do. You have gotten me through this crazy new world! Next week my new chair comes and I can’t wait!
Amanda Thompson I’m so pleased. Feel free to send me a pic of your new wheels. 😊
Wheelsnoheels - Gem Hubbard I will! This being my first I am sure I made mistakes. But I can not wait!!!
There are also Fit Grips, and Reha Design has a couple different styles as well.
i use a bumbag - started from your video! I got through security at 10 Downing Street without them checking it, even though I told them about it.
Been trying to get latex free push rim grips every time I order some on amazon they take my money and then claim they are out of stock where did you get yours from

I got Pride month racing stripes for my chair for $5 each at Etsy.
No bags were hurt in the making of this video, lol❤️
Push rim covers from amazon but no bobbles on them! Ultra grrrrip about £60! Hope this helps!

11:13 I challenge you to test that theory on me.
