2013 Toyota Avalon V6 0-60 MPH First Drive Review

  • ( www.TFLcar.com ) The 2013 Toyota Avalon V6 has been redesigned with a much more youthful buyer in mind. Gone is the old-fashioned and somewhat stogy Avalon replaced by a much sleeker and dare we say sportier model that hopes to sell better to a larger demographic of buyers. We recently had the chance to test, drive and review the all new Avalon, and of course to see how fast it will go from 0-60 MPH in San Antonio, Texas. So is the Avalon ready to move out of the country club and into the mainstream? Check out this first drive review to find out.

    I bought it yesterday! I'm 33 years and I like it a lot! I like it's power to use in occasions economy in fuel comfort technology interior design and be under the radar with the exterior design. it's a great buy.

    I also use Rislone Engine Treatment which works super good! I get a 2-3 mpg boost from using it. I get a noticeable performance boost. When I put performance camshafts in the 5.7L V8 my engine was super clean and barely was worn down (that was at 120K miles)

    maybe it would be cool to show us some tips to drive in these cases with FWD or RWD (both would be just perfect)

    Thank you Nathan for your explanation . I understand that GDI motors are the most modern and don't understand why car companies like Toyota ( a good one , by the way) , stil manufactures cars in 2012 for 2013 using engines less performant . Probably due to reducing costs. So the engine in the Avalon uses a fuel injection system.

    What's with the Ford grill they slapped on it?

  • @bizkillall
    @bizkillall 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Toyota has had a V6 making 300+hp that can achieve 30mpg+ for a few years now, they just have not used it in the NA Toyota market. As I mentioned earlier, the V6s making 300+hp are using DI which has inherent problems that Toyota is wanting to remedy before they put one in a high volume car like the Camry or Avalon. The FRS/BRZ is a step in that direction, which uses new DI technology that will hopefully fix the negatives associated with DI (Carbon buildup being the biggest problem).

  • @bizkillall
    @bizkillall 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Toyota went the smart route after the problems with the 2GR-FSE in the IS350 and decided to hold off on putting the 2GR-FSE into the new Camry and Avalon until they fix the problems associated with DI. I can't wait until they do. My step-dad has a 2011 Explorer Limited V6 and I borrow it when taking my family to pick peaches and the 3.7L V6 is peppy even inside such a heavy vehicle. (I just wish the transmission did not shift so early, I have to use sport mode to keep it in the power band)

  • @natesaelens
    @natesaelens 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Will it have an AWD option?

  • @bizkillall
    @bizkillall 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Toyota has a 300+hp version of their 3.5L V6, called the 2GR-FSE. It is available in some Lexus models. Toyota is waiting to introduce that engine into the Toyota line once they have a new replacement to put into the Lexus line. (They are also trying to fix the problem of carbon build up that is present in most DI engines, including ones from the American brands, and is why Toyota is working with Subara to improve their DI technology).

    @rosbtim has a siamese-type intake port and utilizes a regular combustion setup. Direct-injection, which is a more direct - hence the name - is pressure-based and fed directly to the cylinders. It's a good engine, but it's not very modern.

    • @raptorking15

      The Avalon is a top luxury car while Ford Fusion is just a regular sedan; therefore, you can't compare them the way this biased Roman of a guy is doing in this video. I agree that the new Fusion is great, but it's still a regular sedan with cheap interior.

    This video was 7.4. The way in which the test is performed is largely irrelevant, provided they same parameters are used for all automobiles, to ensure fair and equitable numbers comparatively. Autoweek 6.9, C/D 6.6, and MT 6.2. So it varies. For the fully loaded model (39K), you can buy a low end SHO (since we are talking Taurus).

  • @KZSoze
    @KZSoze 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm with you, in that they have the capability. I think Toyota is far superior in quality and reliability over the years. But.. regardless of said capability, the big 3 have 300+ V6's, at least 2 of which can push 30-ish mpg on the hwy. It's not about what you will have in the future, when you are talking about current product lineups. That said, I think you present very reasonable, logical, and reliable info.

    Bought a 2015 Touring. I currently have a 2020 Lexus ES 350 as a loaner car. There is very little difference. The Lexus is quieter but I can feel every little thing on the road. It is just too stiff. I would drive both cars before buying either one.

  • @MiguelRPD
    @MiguelRPD 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm 25 and I don't give a shit. It's sleeper, comfortable and reliable. None of your friends would complain about this car. Not every car needs tight as suspension that a pebble can be felt.
    And plus if an older generation drives this then it's the best thing a younger person can ask for. If means that the car is hardly pushed to it's limit compared to a a Civic.

  • @bizkillall
    @bizkillall 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    However, for now, the 2GR-FE still provides enough performance to compete with, and in some cases beat, their competitor's vehicles when it comes to acceleration, mainly due to the fact that Toyota vehicles are most often lighter than their competitors. Their transmissions also give an advantage as Toyota does a great job in gearing a transmission, especially when compared to Chrysler before they came out with their new 8 speed transmission (Which is a great transmission).

    While I can agree in the past, Korean companies were known to flat out copy some Japanese and German design, I can't say that is true anymore. Chris Chapman, previous head designer at BMW is now with Hyundai while Peter Schreyer (previous head designer for Audi) is with Kia (which are sister companies). This Toyota Avalon moves towards a new design language, not previously seen and makes me question where it came from. I can't help but agree with Nathan that it does look like the Azera.

    You know what, I'm 25 year old male as well and I am looking into this new Avalon Limited. I wanted to buy the new ES 350 also fully loaded but I think that the Avalon is a lot nicer than the Lexus. Personally, I don't care if it's car that boosts my appearance - I prefer a car that's comfortable, luxurious and won't make a hole in my pocket. If I wanted to I would get the GS 350 F-Sport, which I test drove and is pure awesome, but thinking of making $600-700 monthly car payments is a turn off.

    The new Avalon is a nice looking car. If you have ever been in an Avalon you would know it is a nice place to be. They are comfortable and quiet. It is nice that they are making it more sporty but they Avalon was never intended to be a sports car so why would anyone be disappointed that it is not? Different brands have different personas and this fits Toyota's persona. Why complain about diversity of choice? If you want a BMW, go buy one.

    My Cadillac has given me years of great comfort and reliability! I own a 2005 Cadillac CTS V which has almost 175K on it! It was in the shop for new rotors, but that was it. I plan on getting new suspension at 215K. I regularly maintain my cars with Kendall synthetic oil, I get them professionally detailed every 4 months (I detail them myself in between), I flush the coolant/transmission every 15K miles, change the air filter every 75K, etc
