Laura's Life Dog Training & Dog Vlogs exactly; I went to pets at home with my working lab who is slim and in very good shape, and a boy with a fat cockerpoo or something was saying that my dog is a very skinny Labrador, and I thought yes because the majority of labs you see are owned by people who feed them too much and don't exercise them!

Lost my hunting buddy a week ago
He was a 12 year old black lab . He was a house dog ,hunting buddy and best friend and family . I lost a large peace of my heart .

Do you scent your bumpers? What do you do with a dog that will initially retrieve the bumper, then take a detour on the way back to sniff something, then eventually pick up the bumper again and bring it to hand.

Frank Long Not too often. I just shorten up their retrieves and stick a long line on them.

What do you do with a whiny dog on the tether?

The easiest way to prevent whining on the tether is with a pre fatiguing session; run them until they are too tired to whine. A tired dog is a good dog!

How do I teach the release or let go? I have a 10 week lab that retrieves but wants to play tug and not release what she's brought back...

I'm not a trainer, but with my lab puppy I brought a second bumper/ball. I would act like I didn't want what she retrieved and would get her excited about what I had in my hand while telling her to drop the one she retrieved. She drops on command now and I only bring one toy.
