    Look up "The Evolution of Diggy Diggy Hole" on TH-cam for the history of this addictive song!

  • @insertgenericusernamehere2402
    @insertgenericusernamehere2402 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    So if you don't know or haven't heard this songs origins is traced back to a British TH-cam video game channel called the Yogscast. The time of this whole thing starting they where playing Minecraft and one of the channel hosts suggested making a jaunty song for dwarves to sing when they mine. The other host came up with the "I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole diggy diggy hole" lyrics.
    Either a year or more passed and it was turned into a full song. Afterwards it was covered and then eventually picked up by these guys who did a fantastic version of it.

    I think this is just simply a fun song and being metal makes it even better. The only
    thing I would have added is a guitar solo ala Powerwolf. I'm a little surprised that
    you guys didn't compare this to Gloryhammer, they are as tongue-in-cheek as it gets.

    • @NorokVokun
      @NorokVokun 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What I would have LOVED was if they included a Hurdy Gurdy in there in the melodic ... it'd have the deep rumble and the chime that would compliment this cover soooo well.

  • @Ramathustra

    Check out their Stonehymn album. It is Tolkien inspired power metal with intricate vocals and well above the average lyrics. It was really the best musical surprise of the year for me so far, especially Dance of Fire and The Returning Race.

    You've got to admire someone who can sing the words 'diggy diggy hole' so seriously.
    It's not 'Death Metal' it's 'Dwarf Metal'!

  • @ddcarpenter1790
    @ddcarpenter1790 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    If i recall correctly this was originally a satiral song of the game Minecraft that eventually became this from several others covering and mixing the song. This is by far the best version.

    • @belisarius6949

    My first reaction to this was near enough exactly the same as yours: "why is this a thing....." and then within 40 seconds I was singing "Diggy Diggy Hole"
    Definitely fun. Hopefully not the way music is going.

    • @adorablecockroach5131

      Well it's a cover of a popular internet song that started from a joke and both it and the original has more soul then most shit in the mainstream music scene.

    Well the cool part I think is it opens the ancient art of smithing to the public and for anyone who doesnt smith, they were making a shovel throughout that video, which makes sense because of song "diggy diggy hole"

  • @darwinsdummy
    @darwinsdummy 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Well, that was fun. I was skeptical at first, but it was a bit of an earworm and by the end I was practically singing along. Nothing amazing, but a catchy bit of fun that's I'll probably find myself humming later today.
    Recommendations:
    Atlas Pain - To the Moon (th-cam.com/video/Qi_vRS1c6kI/w-d-xo.html). Melodic death metal with a bit of a bouncy quality to it (folk/power metal influences?). The music video is a bit silly.
    Aether Realm - The Chariot (th-cam.com/video/UsHhRskvVxQ/w-d-xo.html). More melodic death metal, this song is reminiscient of Children of Bodom, though the album includes other songs with influences ranging from doom to prog. I'll just keep recommending these guys until either I or this channel die :P
    (also, The Paralydium Project says they'll be putting out a major update "soon", so fingers crossed that we'll get more prog rock goodness)

      If this comment is about who made "folk metal", intending that they did this stuff as first you are terribly wrong.

    Well the lyrics themselves are somewhat metallic no pun intended they literally say "skin made of iron,steel in the bone" and really dwarfs are the berserker type tanks with huge axes in each hand or with fantasy shotgun in my imagination from what i heard at least i would say they are most metallic race and add the part where they always do whatever they want

    Wind rose are an OK rock group dwelling in Middle earth . Mindcratf is where this song started it life with Simon & yogscast There was goingto be a game but people got Mugged off by Yogscast yet somehow they did not loose their fans over it . now feeling sad I know this stuff lol . do more wind rose they are worth a another chance :)

    • @turbulentt297

      stacey bashford they weren’t mugged off by the yogscast. A studio came to the yogscast and the yogscast endorses them. Over time deadlines weren’t met and money was always a problem. Eventually the project fell through and it is believed that one of the people working on the project pocketed the Kickstarter money for himself as he bought a brand BMW shortly after production stopped. The failure of the project was largely not the yogscasts fault
