I'd love to hear your thoughts on Brothers of Metal. They are a power metal band based on Norse mythology. They have 3 singers. My suggestion is the official video for Prophecy of Ragnarok (not the lyric video) or Njord.

Well, I'll tell ya! I just listened at your suggestion and checked out Yggdrasil and honestly, the song is pretty sick. Ylva Eriksson has a stellar voice and it had the mixture of silly fun but good musicianship that I enjoyed in Diggy Diggy hole. The video was......well the video was certainly something, ha. But the song was dope! Have a pin and a dancing kirby

"Kinda silly, yeah, but I was vibing."
That's power metal in a nutshell. Everything from the OGs like Helloween and Gamma Ray, to the 90s stuff like Rhapsody and Hammerfall, to newer stuff like Gloryhammer or Wind Rose. It's all just silly good fun and great music.

    • @thorveim1174
      @thorveim1174 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Some take it half seriously, using the fantasy there to make it all epic like Hammerfall does. Gloryhammer or Nanowar of Steel are more a parody of that, taking it to the extreme to make it silly.

    • @1Enkidu
      @1Enkidu 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I understand what you mean, but in the case of Wind Rose at least I disagree. At least since their new album Warfront they're partly very serious and quite profound (e.g. I Am The Mountain). Diggy Diggy Hole was just one silly song from them.

They fit into the "very thematic" Powermetal niche I would say. Saw them live on tour with Nekrogoblikon and Gloryhammer, so maybe check them out? I don't know of any other dwarven themed band like Windrose.
Gloryhammer is (very) simply put Dungeons and Dragons (in space) but Powermetal. Nekrogoblikon is Goblin themed Powermetal with some metalcore vibes and very interesting vocals.
Gloryhammer : Hootsforce, The Unicorn invasion of Dundee, Gloryhammer, Universe on Fire.
Nekrogoblikon : The many faces of Dr. Hubert Malbec, Powercore, No one survives, Dressed as Goblin, Magic Spider.

I would be absolutely ecstatic if you could react and analyze a song or two from the Danish blackened downtempo deathcore band Cabal (dont know if i got the genre 100% correct). Their newest album which dropped early 2020 (April 3rd i think) is full of what i at least think are great songs, a few songs i would recommend are Tongues and Drag me down which features the vocalist of polaris Jamie Hails. For some reason a lot of Danish music is blocked in Denmark right now, I'm not sure on the details but i think its some licensing issues but they should be available in almost every other country.
Edit: I wanted to mention that they use symphonic elements in almost all of their songs to give it more of an eerie vibe, and its absolutely awesome!

First of all, I found you several days ago and you have, by far, the most elaborate reactions out there, and even with that you still show emotions. I really like it. And second, I would really like you to analyze the band Öxxö Xööx (a good song would be LMDLM). It's in "family" with Igorrr and Corpo-Mente, they often do stuff together, and this exact band is focused on experimental melodic doom metal with very interesting vocals. I'd say they are basically suffering screams, but the sound is almost totally clean. I think you'll love it.

Well, if you want more Dwarves-themed music, I recommend Clamavi de Profundis, who are a whole family of singers who have a bunch of original songs about Dwarves set in an original fantasy world they created. It's not really 'metal' but it's still very good.
Also, if you didn't already play minecraft, I think the reason why it was brought up in relation to this is that the song originated as a joke on a Yogscast minecraft stream where one of the members started singing "I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole" while he was mining.

Yes. Hahaha
I feel like you probs have heard or if not someone has commented already but Eluviete is a SUPER sick folk metal band I have REALLY enjoyed listening to in the past. They have had a ton of members too of people actually playing all sorts of different instruments, flute, violin, hurdy gurdy, its sick. A great time.
If anyone knows more bands like Eluviete I'd love to hear as well.

Folk is a bigger thing in europe. My way into metal was through folk and pagan after the classics like metallica etc.
Bands i can recommend are: -Ensiferum
    -Eluveitie
    -Korpiklaani
    -Alestorm
    -Equilibrium (Sagas)
-Bifröst (Heidenmetal) I love them becausse they are fellow austrians and if you understand the language or read into the lyrics a song like der Mönch (the monk) becomes way more entertaining

A vocalist you may like is Leo Jiménez as singer of Stravaganzza (he has been in several bands). They are a gothic/symphonic metal band from Madrid, Spain. If you are to react or just listen to them, I recommend their cover “Hijo de la luna”, or “Nudos” (from their third LP “Requiem”). Cheers, Mark.

  • @confettius

It's cover. They made it cause they're doing Dwarven Metal (really something between folk and power metal) and they're dwarves from Erebor as they personas... So song about dwarves digging a hole is their mug of beer.
I think that yeah, bands like Korpiklaani, Alestorm and Brothers of Metal hits similar stylization.

I know I’m a bit late, but I’d recommend Turisas, Alestorm, or Hulkoff. Hulkoff would be fascinating to your hear dissection of, as their latest album covers a wide range of “flavors” you could say. Perhaps the song “Hildisvin”
Also, the look of mischief on your face when you snagged the hammer was PERFECT.

Listen to Sabaton! Swedish heavy metal band with elements of power metal. Basically anything by them - they’re AMAZING. Start with 82nd all the way or The Last Stand. They’re not silly like this (their songs are actually about military history, so every song is based on historical war events. Great history lesson!). The lead singer is a baritone, and I think you’d enjoy them.

There are some bands that are thematic like Wind Rose mostly in the Power Metal genre (as far as I am aware that is).
    Wind Rose are Dwarves
Gloryhammer are inspired by DnD and 40K
Alestorm are Pirates and so on
Now that I think about it all three mentioned above have a deal with Nuclear Blast
