  • @joshfriedman2717
    @joshfriedman2717 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The call is still a good one. In MrDrBatman's eyes, Patrick would play the same way with any open ended (56; 69; 9T). that's 48 combos. He might even raise the river with a low Q to get MrDrBatman off a higher Q or an over pair (which he actually had). So if we add any Q6 or lower, that adds 30 combos. So with 78+ combos that he beats (Patrick can do this with air too sometimes) and only loses to 180 combos that have a 7 or 8 (do the math yourself), he is just about priced in.

    • @Young-ep8ik
      @Young-ep8ik ปีที่แล้ว

      Respectfully disagree PA would bluff with Q low kicker and specifically target a higher Q. Also remember as the preflop 3 better he had a lot less 7s and 8s than batman. That also reduces the chance he was bluffing significantly, especially raising twice on flop and river.

    Patrik is one of the best players in the world. But face it, this was a hand that if you are I played, the commentators would have been screaming that this was a loose play and indicative of an amateur. He got very lucky and that’s all. Nothing to see here other than watching Lady Luck.

    • @SenselessApprentice
      @SenselessApprentice ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You sure? Amateurs are probably under defending their straddles, and more likely to fold 83o. Patrick knows he has a massive edge on this amateur, that and more importantly position. He defends his straddle in position, raises small OTF against a blind bet. You get tons of info from this play, he's usually getting a free river card unimproved on turn. Yes, turn and river were lucky, but there is strategical information to be gleaned from his line.

    • @BenjtheStation
      @BenjtheStation ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The guy raised only to 2.5x the straddle out of position which is simply too little. Out of position it should really be 4x straddle or 1.6k then you really discourage people taking a flop with garbage. Only had himself to blame there.

    • @beachliving3127
      @beachliving3127 ปีที่แล้ว

      @beachliving3127 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SenselessApprentice I understand the strategy you are discussing. The owner of the pocket Aces has to worry if Patrick has a strong hand when there is a raise on the flop. That turn card was lucky as hell and I wonder how Patrik would have played his hand on the turn if he didn’t get that second 8. The way the BB with the Aces played his hand tells me he wasn’t going to fold at all.

      You put in the block bet with intention to call a raise. Most people raise a block bet because they see it as weakness. Everything was pretty standard in the hand. Just a cooler.

    • @jolaz69
      @jolaz69 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@olivierauberger When Patrik bets the flop, he’s repping AQ, KQ and sometime QJ or even QT. When the 8 hits the turn, it’s actually less likely he has an 8. The 7 on the river is irrelevant. You can discount QQ too because if he had QQ there would be more preflop action. I guess he could have the one combo of 88 or one combo of 77, but how likely is that? If you’re folding AA on the river in that spot to a single raise, I say you’re over folding.

    I think the river call is a difficult one to make, but Patrick could easily have T9 or another type of straight draw that missed. He is forced to bet on the river to win. I think the rather bigger mistake was not re-raising on the flop. In my opinion, in this particular situation, re-raising on the flop is automatic. If you don't re-raise with AA in that spot, then you do not have enough value in your reraise range to ever re-raise on that flop as bluff.

    • @pierrearr
      @pierrearr ปีที่แล้ว

      Why would you need to have a 3bet range on that flop to begin with? Why not just play your whole continue range as a call?

    • @JacobGluck
      @JacobGluck ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pierrearr that would be a losing play. Villain could then raise you with any type of hand that he wants to see a river card for free because you will then check to villain on pretty much every turn card and villain can check if he doesn't improve.
      Besides, this woupd violate the basic theory of poker which says that you should put money in the pot when you are likely ahead and check/fold when you are behind. In this case, where both you and your opponent have relatively weak ranges, You being in late position and your opponent being in the blind, you must play the top of your range strongly. Pocket aces is very strong on that flop but gets weaker as more cards roll off. There's no reason to slow play

    What a dumb river lead out. Check maybe patrik bombs river for full pot and you call, maybe he only bets half/75 pot and you call still lose. You still lose less than betting/calling huge raise.

    Professional poker player and he call's a preflop raise of a $1,000 with 8-3 off suite,Patrik should know better,that's playing BINGO at a poker table. Then raises $3,000 bet with only 8's, I expect this shit from a very low level player. I fucking HATE bingo playing. The turn is why,they always get so fucking lucky and ruins a great hand. I wonder if Batman re-raised him to $20,000 before the turn,would Patrik of called.

    Trash cards beat pocket Aces.
    It's a poker. But Patrick played like a fish and everyone talks that he played correctly.
