  • Vintage American Flyer Trains from the link coupler time period. All original track and switches except for a few 36" long straight sections purchased in 1984. Talking station was restored and repainted, Most of the Plasticville is from the late 1940's to the mid 1950's with a few new buildings purchased in the early 1980's. There are a few scratch built structures. Most of the buildings have lights and there are over 20 street lights. The revesersing had car was recently purchased and is a Lionel reproduction.
The original train is the 325AC Hudson with a few freight cars that was purchased in 1953. The collection has been slowly growing since then. Every year (only set up at Christmas) something new is added.

I cannot get enough of your fabulous layout. Yes, I love link couplers! a lot of people do not know how to adjust them so they will stay coupled most of the time anyway. The pin should be in line with the axle but not bent down to the same level of course. Hard to explain unless I show someone. The link cars couple closer and I lots of videos on an exrtra cell phone and a lot of the knuckle coupler trains on this phone. Just bought some excellent to mint link cars on ebay. All in good original boxes. I have no layout and never did. No space in Apts and too many inspections and restrictions to build anything here and way too dusty. Every thing I have is boxed.

Just bought a 632 Virginian die cast hopper in Excellent plus condition with perfect latches and steps. Never see any good ones most of the time. all four steps are rare with perfect loading doors or are they latches?

Wow nice trains! But I can say that Lionel is better.

RaritanRiverRailroadFan4, American Flyer is scale and runs on real two rail track!

RaritanRiverRailroadFan4 Postwar lionel is very good and i had some when I was a kid but I admired American Flyer for those more realistic white walls and scale, size is better to put boxed trains in bankers boxes and set up a track in a small apt. Lionel O gauge is too big to collect but I think it is good for people who like those big trains. That AF 326 Hudson is unmatched by everyone for its good looks and is a match for the prototype engine also. Of course we have two rails just like real trains. I still think postwar lionel trains are just fine.

How do you keep the tracks clean? My son and I are having a hard time keeping ours clean! Email me back at warren1911glen@gmail please? Thanks!

wjgBMW just use old white socks and shop rags with Alcohol or track cleaner meant for track. Don't use any store bought spray or any other stuff. Brite Boy track erasers can be found at train shows and hobby shops. I have never found track cleaning train cars any good because there is no pressure and elbow grease!

wjgBMW Never use anything but a brite boy track eraser and after that use old socks dipped in alcohol to clean those tracks. Tracks should be cleaned every time you run you trains. I clean my tracks all during the time I run trains, every hour or so. Never use any store bought cleaners of any kind. Track cleaning fluid is sold in hobby shop and on line from the companies that sell and repair anything new and used american flyer. That should do it!

I like Lionel postwar trains but only american flyer trains are the most realistic trains ever made and pul-mor engines can pull 40 or more cars. My MP AA diesels from a 1959 set pulled 45 boxcars and tankcars at a scale 227 MPH.

Great American Flyer layout. Really rare to see 100% American Flyer on a layout that others call American Flyer when they run all that ugly S gauge stuff. Only AF looks like real old toy trains. I will not ever own one piece of that other junk.

Thank you for your compliment. All of the Flyer I own is from the link coupler era, 1946 - 1953. I recently acquired a 370 Diesel but good quality AF is getting rare.
