I can see why if possible it's best to take apart if fitted to the tractor but nevertheless you done it yet again I can see you enjoy the challenge 😉 keep up the good work I see your channel is growing soon be up to 1000

Hi Jon, yes the biggest lesson is take it to bits on the tractor as much as possible

Wow, these final drives are a real pain. Good on you for fighting the fight and I KNOW you'll come out the winner!

Hi Shane, It's an age thing, haven said that the seals were very soft and I did get the impression that they had been replaced recently even if the Circlips said different, the bearings are briliant, I just wished I knew more of it's history, I may have saved time or money or both, but hey ho, we keep on trucking
      many thanks

I tried to bump the shaft like you did one time and broke the cast cap, bloody thing. 😃Must have not held my mouth right. Its all progress Barry, coming along well.

Hi Lance, it all depends on where you place your tongue, mind my luck is normally to break things, then spend two days saying why did I do that, I knew that would happen, a bit like the clutch plate. The sun was shinning on me that day!
      many thanks

Hi Barry, round 2 was definitely easier than round 1, well done, It would appear that a gorilla has been giving the DB serious grief.

Hi Ken, I think 2nd one is always easier cos you know what to expect, however there's always a bite in the bum. definatley some big fisted bugger's been in here.
      many thanks
      Ken

You mentioned retapping your drums with BFS if that is a fine thread I wouldn't advise it for brute force pulling or pushing. Corse threads are deeper and can take more abuse especially from rust,

I'm so glad you're doing this. You're helping me out with my david brown 1200 that I'm doing a full restore on, they're almost identical. I tried to use bolts to remove the brake drum but after they failed (broke and bent) I just fabricated a tool from some oil pipe and put it in the press. They came right out. Quick question, where are you ordering your parts from? I'm having some difficulty finding everything to rebuild the final drive

Hi Michael, I got O rings from Barcaly williams and the seals from Agriline, I didn't need bearings as someone had replaced these, had I needed them I probably would have used my local bearing supplier.
      good luck
      Barry

Hello Barry what size is the jacking boits for the brake drum and what is the best oil to use.

Hi Andrew thew bolts are 1/2"UNC and I used EP2 grease but engine oil will do, just to stop the threads gauling
      many thanks

Hi I would jusy put some EP90 heavy gear oil in there, won't do it any harm.
      many thanks
