I have a 4 month old Black Lab. He is such a good boy! Doesn't bark, pretty calm, and is so loving. Husband and I are always with him. Puppy has a good life.
@@madduxchapman7853 when dogs are comfortable and confident in their environment, they usually don't bark much. My lab will give out a subtle bark (one time) in a rare occurrence when he sees someone walking towards my front door. I have been blessed.
Best lab puppy training video that I've come across. It's detailed, well-paced with sufficient repetitions. And most importantly it depicts the miss and slips which happen in real life while training the pup. Not like some other videos where the dog responds right from first time through the last without erring. I especially loved the trainer...she has a very personal connect with the puppy and that's clearly visible in her voice modulation and snuggle ❤
Just adopted a labrador puppy. He is 3 months old and I named him Oliver, he is absolutely adorable but only after 5 days I feel so overwhelmed and suffering from an extreme case of puppy blues. I get very anxious when I am trying to relax at home but he does nothing but chew on anything and everything be it pillows, the carpet, the floorboards, power wires for computers/TV that I've tried to hide away from him. I am eagerly attempting to train him but man is it a lot of work and coming home after a long day of work I often feel as though I am failing him as an owner and not properly rewarding him and teaching him. When he constantly bites my toes, ankles, hands, etc I try and hold him close and not be rough with him but sometimes I get frustrated when it doesn't seem to have an effect. I walk him about 6 times a day and try to wear him out but when I am home it is non stop and all I want is time for myself. I understand that it is my decision to adopt and completely put my life upside down and I must live by it. I have no intention of returning him, I wouldn't have it in me even if I wanted to, and I do love him. Going from having absolute freedom to feeling like I have none at all has been such a drastic change in my life that it feels overbearing, in fact I actually randomly started crying on the couch when thinking about it. I've told family and friends that the only time I get peace of mind is when I'm at work and away from him. But even after saying all of this he is asleep laying on the couch nestled up next to me and I am greatly comforted by his love towards me. I am all that he has in the world right now, and I feel so terrible when I think that I just need to get away for a few hours or a day when he spends his day looking forward to when I finally step through that door. I wrote this in a time of extreme anxiety over being a brand new puppy owner to vent my own personal feelings about my situation and somewhat as a warning to people looking to become first time puppy owners who may not be entirely prepared for it. Even if you think you are, prepare more. I just know when he matures and calms down just a tiny bit that I will be so happy and grateful that I stuck through it and have a companion who loves me unconditionally and is always happy to see me. That thought alone warms my heart immensely and brings me great joy even if I want to tear my hair out currently lol. I will do my best to give him the best life I can and I hope that all of my venting shows how much I truly care about him. Be responsible everyone and give your pups an extra kiss on the head.
@@washingtonfan2945 He is so much better now, going on 7 months old. At first I had a hard time adapting to being the only parent to a new puppy but routines have been found. He still needs a lot of work but I feel so much better now after the puppy blues wore off. I used to feel like there was nothing I could do and 100% of time was necessary to devote to him, but now I'm actually able to relax and watch a show or something without him absolutely ruining the place. He has recently learned most things have stuffing inside of them however ☠ so now I have to safeguard the couches and pillows
I am going completly through it as you said, I just randomly start to cry thinking it will never end and I will end up having a desobedient dog… what worries me the most is that he puts so much resistance when I try to discipline him, he reacts to it for 2 days and then nothing… then I get so discouraged… I am glad you are doing much better now with your puppy 😊 it sounds like a dream to me to be honest at this point
I am getting a puppy in 1 week …. I have been asking my parents for a puppy from 1 year and finally they said yes… and that day is my best and happy day !! I cried of happiness….. soo just a week to my labrodor to come to me …. I am super excited
I have EXACTLY a Labrador Retriever, and I'm watching this because she bites and often misbehaves. She's here for around 4 weeks now, and the only thing I've taught her is to climb up and down the staircase, and to sit. (I've noticed she only sits down when i have food around, but there are times when she does sit even without food! I love her hehe) Now I'm teaching her how to stay put. (it's working a little) Now, I've watched this video while eating, and after i was done, i grabbed treats and did the third trick! First, she starts biting, but i pull away immediately. The third and many other turns, she started licking or sniffing only. Thank you! It's working. I played with her after, and now she's exhausted. I will try the other tricks soon~ Thank you!

I wish I would've found these videos 3 months ago. Our lab just turned 5 months and he's doing amazing. Bit if I would've had some of these simple techniques I'm sure it would've gone smoother. Our pup looked just like this one and I miss that tiny puppy stage so much. He's a 60 lb lap dog now.
I just got a lab puppy last Monday so its been a week today 🤣 wish I found this a week ago lol but he’s actually doing really good. Natural heel, settled in his crate after 2 nights, already knows treat lures, sit, down, focus, spin, and learning on leave it. Been using your potty training techniques to better improve my teaching skills to help him catch on and its going well!
Our trainer taught us a game to teach our new English lab puppy her name where we would throw the treat and say her name but we would only throw the treat again if she looked at us when we said her name, and then it just goes back n forth pretty fast….it’s a little confusing but she learned her name that way within 10 mins 😅
I cannot express how graceful I am to your super informative video! I'm expecting my black lab puppy in 4 weeks from now and this is vital! Thank you, you guys are amazing!
I adopted a 6-month black lab/shar pei mix ("Jessie") from a local shelter 4 months ago. She looks just like a lab except she's shar pei size (18" at shoulder and 40 lbs--a mini lab!). She's very smart and VERY active so I've gotten creative in training and exercising to keep her busy. She's learning fast, but still has a problem with not jumping on people. She's a lot better than when I first got her, though training people to not encourage it is harder than training Jessie. :P
Done retriever field trials myself. The treat is the activity.labs love play and retrieving. We used pigeons and ducks as a reward for them. They love it

That was so educational! Thank you. The only thing I'm not going to do is the crate, but i like the idea of the safe space for them, so I'd build a box for them.
I made the mistake of having 2 puppies at the same time (I didn't entend on it, but my sister lost her job after getting the pup and had to move and couldn't take her, so it was 2 pups or one goes to the shelter.) so my dogs will both run if I call either name. So I say one is Colt Remington, and the other is Remington Colt. My labs aren't particularly smart, and are scared of water, but they like building snow forts, with under snow tunnels, and they love playing with all my nieces and nephews and neighbor kids, so them not being able to get a blanket off of them doesn't seem so bad.
My puppy is exactly like him, i just got it and idk where to start, she got some things on her skin ig fleas but im not sure,i have to go to a vet, shes so cute m gonna cry

I’m a single man in my 40s with a demanding and dangerous job and no plans or ambitions to ever get married. But I’m seriously considering getting a black lab puppy. They’ve always been my favorite breed of dog and I have always wanted one. Should I just break down and get one?
Yes absolutely, Ive just got one coming home on sunday! Wanted one for ages but never felt like it was the right time due to work commitments etc.. of course you need to consider many things but ultimately, i came to the conclusion that in life, there will never be a perfect time so you either do nothing and stand still or just bite the bullet, get the pup and move forward in life! And eventually once settled, im pretty sure it’s a decision you wont regret!

You know, TH-cam is the go-to for how-to videos. And while I've found several videos that are loaded with affiliate links trying to sell whatever junk they are talking about, there is nothing in your video but help and free information. I went to your website, and I'll be making a purchase there soon (my puppy to be is less than a week old right now. Gunner is an AKC chocolate lab), but you don't seem to sell the puppy treats. Is there a treat you recommend? if not recommended, is there any kind or type that I should stay away from for health or digestive issues? I really what to thank you for the time you have put into making videos. As a fellow youtuber I understand the amount of effort that you have into each of these productions. Thank you so much.
Hey @thegunguy ! Thanks for watching and commenting. We are excited to see the progress both you and Gunner make! To answer your question about treats, its really exercise and dog specific. Know what your dog loves and what your dog likes. Use these two as low and high value rewards based on when you need to jackpot your dog for an AMAZING decision in training.
Choosing the right breed can be tough! We just released a video on the Top 10 Most Popular Dog Breeds (I Was Surprised!), and it might give you some great insights. Check it out here: th-cam.com/video/IQRxUMbgxlA/w-d-xo.html
Happy training!
@@McCannDogswould you recommend a male or female?
I can’t wait I’m getting my Aussiedoodle ( Australian Shepard and poodle mix ) in 2 weeks she’s only gonna get up to 25 pounds when fully grown but I love watching your videos and I can’t wait to get my dog your training vids reallly help
Looking for a low cost, limited ingredient recipe that you can alter if needed? Check this video out!
