Appointments are the bane of my motherhood existence. I "only" have 4 kids, but we definitely do their routine dentist appointments all at once. A few of them are already in orthodontic appliances, so I try to overlap their appointments as well. Their other appointments at their pediatrician and specialists are spread out all over the place, and those drive me the most crazy. Then there's my own appointments which I put off constantly just because I don't know where to squeeze them in the calendar.
We have 11 kids… I feel you on the appointments! Our pediatrician sees two kids at a time. So I bring in two kids a week for their check ups until I’m done. That’s practically 6 weeks! 🤣🤦♀️ dentist I try and fit in as many as I can. Usually 3 at a time if they can do more I will have us all come in. Speaking of, need to do the dentist check ups soon! 😝 it never ends!
I’m way over due for a dentist appointment and need to get that taken care of. I see you like watching other channels that have big families like yours. How cool! We probably watch some of the same channels.
In the USA is this normal to get kids regular checkups? Just not a thing in the UK. Kids go to the doctors for vaccines or if something is wrong, if it's serious they might get referred to a pediatrician.
Angie, I have had that issue after styes. A recommendation I got from my doctor was to use a heated eye mask (one that goes in the microwave) several times a day and to do a gentle eye massage afterwards. This softens the lump and encourages natural drainage. The eye massage literally just means to use your index finger horizontally from the brow bone to the cheek bone a few times. Worked a charm after a few short days.
I have 4 kiddos and I try to schedule the particular service all at the one visit with back to back appointments . And then space out one month we do dr check up, one month we take a day to go to the dentist.
Yep, I had a sty removed by the ophthalmologist, the same hard bump. They do it exactly as you've imagined AND while you're wide awake. It was super simple and quick though! Way less dramatic then you'd think.
We have a sabbath rest week schedule. So 6 weeks on with school and 1 week off ( Usually I plan it around holidays). During that week off I schedule our appointments throughout the weeks off. I also wait to do homeschool tweaking and major to do projects on those weeks. This schedule has been life changing. Helps me to stay focused and give me something to work towards. The kids also like it to because anything on their schedule they get behind on they can catch up on during that week but if they stay on task it is more a relaxing week.
I love your random, chatty vlogs! We have that same waterslide for our kiddos too! Its been a life saver. We are in South GA and you aint lying bout that heat! 🥵
Hello! When my four children were young I definitely made all Dr., and dentists, appointments in one day. Just better to get it all done and over with in my opinion.
I’ve been getting styes since I’ve been a child, and the best warm compresses for your eyes is a hard boiled eyes wrapped in a napkin or towel. You can also reheat the egg a few times and as the egg cools, you remove the layers until the egg completely cooled. The egg is the perfect size and shape to fir in the eye.
We group all the doctor and dentists as much as we can. Get them in back to back on the same day. It sucks, but it feels so good to have it out if the way. And I offer lots of rewards for everyones patience and cooperation on those long days.
When the stye thing started happening to me I had a child playing in my makeup. I threw it all out, bought new, and for a good year replaced my mascara every month. It stopped.
I like to take my kids in pairs to appts. One big kid, one little kid. Makes it way easier for me to be present and focus well. Taking everyone at once, there’s no way I’d be able to communicate well with the doctor.
Angie, when you take your makeup off tonight, grab your top eyelid and pull it over your bottom lashes. Sounds sick, but the bottom lashes scoop out whatever is stuck inside the upper lid. It's magic!!!
I have 8 kids and I get appointment fatigue! I try my bar to do all appointments the same week for well check ups and dentist! Then we have Speech and Occupational therapy and orthodontist, chiropractor and I get tired but grateful bc everyone is healthy and we have access to care! I just tell myself this is important it’s okay make it fun!! We also homeschool!!
Hi Angie....I had that lump on my eyelid. and yes it had to be removed coz it May come biggger and it May shut your eye halfway. the lump has cyst in it and you Maybe scratch your eye.makes it irritated . No eye makeup for a week as long as it heals.
You all are having such hot weather while those of us in the Pacific Northwest are struggling to string a few 70 degree days together. It’s been a terribly cold, wet, spring so far. Our kiddo that plays softball has had many games canceled because of days and days of heavy rain. It sounds like we need a little of your weather and you need a little of ours!
We just schedule them out far enough that we do everyone back to back on one day, setting aside the whole day and making sure to bring snacks and books to read while we wait. 👍
I usually schedule two kids at a time for the dentist because we have to pay up front then get reimbursed and I can’t afford more than two at a time. It was pleasant yesterday and then I looked at the forecast for the next few days and yep so crazy hot. We’re near the mountains of Ga so it’s a bit cooler than other parts of our state- I’m thankful for that but I think we’ll limit our outside time to 8-9:30a and even with water it might be manageable at this time of day…. Sheesh! I definitely prefer below 60 degrees.
I have three children, but doctor appointments are our life. They all have disabilities and we are at multiple appts every week! But when we are just doing regular checkups or dentist cleanings, I try to do them all at once😊
It’s called a grandfather sty and the ophthalmologist will excise it by rolling it out and removes from the inside so no scar on the outer lid. Good luck. I had one removed several years ago. Wasn’t that bad.
My kids are grown but I have 4 fur babies and I do all vet and grooming appointments through the month of June. Then I am done for the year. With the Vet anyway. Works well for me.
I definitely try to schedule my kids at least paired... One has special needs and therefore needs many more appointments but the others we combine as we can
I had a large stye as a child and you are absolutely correct about the scalpel near the eyeball 👀👀👀. It was horribly traumatizing and my mom never took me back to that doctor. I still have a small bump and it will be with me till I die 😂😂😂. I’ve come to love my bump
I live in NE OKLAHOMA and have a very similar climate. We do have 4 distinct season though, with some being longer and some shorter, depending on the whims of the weather. We spend a large majority of our lives declaring outside to be either too hot or too cold lol. We do have a lot of spring fed creeks that people take advantage of in the hot summertime. I do want to add that growing up in the 70's and 80's, we did not have AC. We had a water cooler that we would routinely add water to in vain hopes of feeling a little cool air. Most people that lived around us did not have AC, including our schools. I remember the occasional trip to Walmart in the summer and feeling like I walked into a whole other world because the coolness of that store was just amazing! If we were lucky enough to be taken to town and into Walmart, we drove a car without AC, and with 5 kids stuffed into that car, we were a sweaty, hot mess by the time we traveled the 10 miles to town. The sweat on our bodies would give is chills when entering into the world of Walmart AC! Now, I have zero desire to go through our 90+ degree 75+ humidity summers without AC. I may cry big tears if I had too lol.
I don't know if this will be a nice thing to hear, but you are kind of living my dream life. I see your vlogs and realise that it's possible to have and I get ambitious again and a little bit jealous. You have the projects, the property, the kids, the remote job and the ability to follow your hobbies, teach and pass on knowledge and even have a voice that is heard all over the world. Also you're an author. I would be very happy if I had all that, although there is probably always things to worry about. You also have ADHD like me, which makes this feel somehow more achievable for me personally.
I try to make any appointments out of the house on only 2 days of the week at any time. Helps keep my brain organized and because I live outside town, I plan to do other errands like groceries on those days too
My friend’s son got recurring styes that were really big like yours. Because he’s so young they opted not to excise. He just has a pea sized bump now. We used to do 4 dentist appt simultaneously and pediatrician near birthday. Now we’re on a 2 and 2 rotation, but within the week. Each kid has their own eye appt time because of prescription glasses.
I buy the ikea net curtains that are like mosquito nets and are long and wide enough for outdoor rooms. I think they were like 6.99 a pair. I live in Arkansas where it’s “as hot as the devil butt crack” and humid with tons of mosquitoes so they are a godsend. I hung metal 10 ft electrical conduit instead of curtain rods to hang them by. Definitely check them out for a budget friendly solution. I plant ranunculus in the fall for early spring blooms. They are finished by late April in my zone 8 hot climate. Dahlias do fabulous in our world but even they will slow down when it’s at its hottest. I grow lots of salvias, coreopsis, Russian sage, rudbeckia, zinnias, cosmos, guara, sunflowers etc because they do great in the heat and humidity.
The irony that you’re wearing an Wyoming T-shirt. I was coming to comment that our temps here is southwest Wyoming are the polar opposite of you! Up until 2 days ago the highs were only in the 40’s and it was below freezing at night. June 1st my husband was scraping ice off the windshield of our van. 🤪 It’s finally creeping into the 70’s here now. We’ve lived all over the US, though, and just moved here from Missouri a month ago. We’ve lived in SC and TN, the upper Midwest, and I grew up in New England. So we’ve experienced al sorts of climates. High desert is by far our favorite. We had lived in Idaho and were called back to the high desert, hence us moving here to WY. Love the dry climate! Humidity is just stifling!!
Ped appts once a year are always scheduled the same time. I have 3 kids. I’ve heard of pediatricians doing group family appointments. We’ve switched to a family doctor for this convenience vs a pediatrician. Dental Appointments are always booked in two. Oldest alone and two youngest together back to back
From childhood I had a problem with styes, but as an adult not so much. I did have to have a cyst removed from my bottom eyelid, and no, not a pleasant procedure. The specialist suggested to wash my face with baby shampoo (doesn't sting eyes and is soft) and massage my eyelids. I don't do it daily, but if I get a niggle that something is starting up then I do it. I also rub the area with a gold ring. Always helped when I was a kid, many decades ago and still seems to help. 😉
You are halirious Angela, love to hear your ted talks. :-) So excited for you guys aboout your fun new projects! We would like to visit Florida this month yet but hearing you talk about how HOT its out there, mkaes me second think it lol
We take the whole family to the dentist for check ups at the same time. 6 people one after the other, the kids read or draw to pass the time. It works well! Doctor apts are scattered though as needed. 🙂 We are heading into cold weather here in Australia and am so thankful to say goodbye to to the Queensland humid hot heat of summer. I know what you are saying when you say it’s too hot to do anything but swim in the water and do nothing. 😎🥵
When they were little we did all at once. Our dentist and doctor was nice and allowed it but they did mention that it was a risk because if a family got sick they would cancel a complete afternoon of appointments. We never had to cancel.
I had to have a stye that had calcified surgically removed. It sounded WAY worse than it was, but yes unfortunately there was a scalpel near my eyeball :-(
Sorry about your stye! My daughter gets continuous chalazions- in fact she has one right now we are in the process of getting rid of with the warm compression method. The first time she ever had one, while we were still learning about them, she had to have hers drained by the doctor. It sounds rough but it went very well and seemed to be very gentle for her afterwards, like it didn't even happen. I don't know if yours has turned into a chalazion but one of the biggest indicators is there is no pain or soreness at all, just a bump. I hope you feel better about having a procedure done if that is what it comes out to be- they will take care of you 😉 Also, for the appointments question, my children are small so I like to space their appointments out except their Pediatrics Dentist which sees all of them at once and pretty quickly- awesome 👌
Hey Angie, I'm a bit nosey, but I'm wondering if you will show the kids rooms redone! I've been looking forward to it since you've bought the house! All the best 🥰
I raise my 3 grandsons and I try to do all appointments together... except if they get sick of course. Our dentist is also our friend and his office always gets them in together for routine visits!!! I can't wait to see you and CR work on the projects you are starting. Also I have to say I sure miss Ms. Lottie 🐑... maybe you could show her in a video soon🤞🙏???? She is one awesome goat!!!!
My husband recently had a stye removed and he said they did it a way where he didnt have to see it... but it was on his lower eyelid. He also said the worst part was the numbing shot and then it was fine after that. Best of luck! ❤
I have 4 kids and the first older 2 are born the same day just 3 years apart (14 yrs old and 11 yrs old) so I always take them together and then the younger 2 are twins ( 4 years old) so they always go together the same time.
You probably have a chalazion now instead of a sty. I worked at an ophthalmologist’s office and saw many people with them. It sounds worse than it is, but they usual have to flip your eyelid and make a small incision. It’s very quick.
Busyyyy mom as always. Try rubbing in some castor oil on your eye, or try a potato or comfry poultice. Love your flowers good start, take care, God bless u and your precious, family
my son had a stye like that. it was not bothering him at all but it did seem hard and it was stubborn took a while to go away but it did. over a month but it did not bother him so we waited eventually it went away

Try colloidal silver for your eye issues, just spray it on and in your eye. Works well for pretty much anything

Natalie benett planted thyme between her flagstones! Love that idea! Would love the smell!

Thanks for the TED talks!!! Happy sketching!!!
Love seeing the new things you do to your land and home. Looks so pretty!! ❤️
You’re a nut….in the most amazing way!!! 😊 you crack me up! I love watching your homestead change and take shape! Keep up the awesome work Lady
I hope to be able to visualize our space like this once our house is built. I love the way you’ve done everything!
Angie, when you take your makeup off tonight, grab your top eyelid and pull it over your bottom lashes. Sounds sick, but the bottom lashes scoop out whatever is stuck inside the upper lid. It's magic!!!
ElasticU clear hairbands on Amazon are a game changer! I promise, you’ll love them. 😌

I’m from NW. I’ll take our weather any time. I can’t stand humidity!
Hey Angie 😃 Just wondering what those big blue-green things are in your yard, by where the new pergola is going?
We just schedule them out far enough that we do everyone back to back on one day, setting aside the whole day and making sure to bring snacks and books to read while we wait. 👍

About your recurring eye situation, maybe when working in the barn and cleaning and all, you could wear safety glasses...? 😉

The heat must be affecting me, too. I momentarily panicked when you mentioned "bear spots."
I schedule it all at one time and done with
That cliff hanger at the end, Angie!! I need to see the sketch!! 😂😂🥰🥰

Buy some of those cool /wet cloths that motorcycle people wear. Put on your neck really helps to stay cool

Sprinkle them out through the year if possible., also keep a medical journal on the family as a yearly practice.
The cement pad looks like the kids love it for a hard surface to play on!

7 kids. I prefer the sprinkle of appointments. Maybe 2 together. Also in Oregon. Still raining. No summer yet.
Ra none culus if you ask me. I can never get them right! Ugh!
They are so finicky. They are cool weather lovers.

This week will be a boiler… 100 heat index! Watering early in the morning to save plants and grass….

We have 5 and I do like a week full of all the appointments - I don't love it but it's better than it dragging out
My mum always told us to rub a sty with a solid gold ring (the bigger the carrot the better) and it would go away. Always worked xxx
Love the Wyoming shirt.
The rubber bands snap with sunscreen!!
My eldest girl had the same thing with a sty, she had day surgery to remove it, no problems since.
My mom had seven children and we were very close in age, but we all had appointments at the same time.
I have the same, multiple projects in the garden and also in the home together. Really hope Tina likes the new chicks.
I just love your videos Angela thank you for inspiring me💜🙏
My son happened to be watching your video with me. He said, you are very funny!
I used to schedule my children to see their doctor one after the next on the same day. It works and was best for me/us.
We bring all of our kids in at the same time for appointments but sometimes that means we have to schedule them out a little further
I had to have a stye that had calcified surgically removed. It sounded WAY worse than it was, but yes unfortunately there was a scalpel near my eyeball :-(
We just had some more snow here in Laramie, Wyoming 🤠❤️❄️
We have 5 kids and we usually take 3 at a time and then 2 at a time during the same month but a different day.
I have 3 boys & I try to do it all at once
Good advise on the eye wash!!
I hope you feel better about having a procedure done if that is what it comes out to be- they will take care of you 😉
Also, for the appointments question, my children are small so I like to space their appointments out except their Pediatrics Dentist which sees all of them at once and pretty quickly- awesome 👌
We group them all together
I have 10 kids and I try to get as many done at one time as possible. It doesn’t always work.
I only have two kids and I always tried to double them up. Get er done
My ranunculus did absolutely did the same thing. Not sure I’ll try again
I feel your pain on the heat. We have 125 acres and if you aren’t up and put the door by 5 am to do things…we’ll you know.
Hey Angie, I'm a bit nosey, but I'm wondering if you will show the kids rooms redone! I've been looking forward to it since you've bought the house! All the best 🥰

POOOOOOL! For the littles! Just say’n!
You are so amazing in all that you do sweetheart.💞🧚🏻
My husband recently had a stye removed and he said they did it a way where he didnt have to see it... but it was on his lower eyelid. He also said the worst part was the numbing shot and then it was fine after that. Best of luck! ❤
Look up a guy on yt. He shows a great eyewash using colloidal silver 👍
I schedule them all at once if possible.
my mom gets a stye like that every spring in the south related to allergies!
Sadly I don’t have kids yet, but I’m disabled and chronically ill so I have many specialists and quite a few appointments every week.
I’ve heard of washing eyelids with baby shampoo- sting free and pure!
I have 4 kids and the first older 2 are born the same day just 3 years apart (14 yrs old and 11 yrs old) so I always take them together and then the younger 2 are twins ( 4 years old) so they always go together the same time.
yeah Ranuculus don't like temps over 75 for long periods of time.

I schedule appointments back to back but I only have 2 kiddos.
You probably have a chalazion now instead of a sty. I worked at an ophthalmologist’s office and saw many people with them. It sounds worse than it is, but they usual have to flip your eyelid and make a small incision. It’s very quick.
As a mother of 3, I try to have all my kids seen (at the doctor) at once or within the same week.
Busyyyy mom as always. Try rubbing in some castor oil on your eye, or try a potato or comfry poultice. Love your flowers good start, take care, God bless u and your precious, family
